Georgia Man Awarded $100 Million

 


According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a 65-year-old man was paralyzed from the neck down after an Atlanta police officer tased him, causing him to fall and fracture his neck. Since then, the 69-year-old man has been awarded $100 million, noting the cop involved used excessive force.

Jay-Z Defeats Parlux In Court

 


The mogul testified in the case, saying, “It was so frustrating working with [Parlux].” He also said he was on trial for something he didn’t do. 


Now, a judge ruled Parlux to pay almost $7 million in unpaid royalties for his ‘Gold’ fragrance. This past Thursday, a Manhattan Supreme Court Justice ruled that $6.78 million is owed to Jay-Z, including interest. The perfume brand’s lawsuit was sparked in 2016, with Parlux seeking $68 million. They claimed Jay-Z failed to promote their perfume as part of terms of a 2012 contract.

Kimora Simmons Sues Def Jam founder Russell Simmons

 


Kimora Simmons is suing her ex-husband and Def Jam founder Russell Simmons for $119 in legal fees, according to Finurah. The lawsuit contends that Lee is seeking $83,000 in attorneys’ fees and an additional $35,000 for court costs stemming from a lawsuit filed by Simmons against his ex-wife and her new husband, investment banker Tim Leissner last year. Simmons had accused the couple of stealing stocks he had ownership of without his permission.

Mystikal Arrested Again

 


According to reports, rapper Mystikal was arrested and charged with first-degree rape. The rapper was booked into the Ascension Parish jail for the alleged sex crime. 


The 52-year-old, whose real name is Michael Tyler, was booked on various charges. The charges included simple criminal damages to property, false imprisonment, domestic abuse battery, simple robbery, and first-degree rape

The Air Force Is Working To Create The First HBCU Research Center

 


According to an Air Force release, the agency is also soliciting HBCU schools with high-research activity ratings to apply. The new research center will focus on tactical autonomy. The Air Force and Department of Defense secured $12 million annually for five years to fund the center’s research, faculty, and students.


“Historically Black Colleges and Universities graduate 30% of Black Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics professionals in the United States, but receive less than .05% of Department of Defense research funding,” said Dr. Victoria Coleman, chief scientist of the Air Force.
