Has Rock-N-Roll Always Been Apart Of Hip-Hop Culture?

Yes Hip Hop has always been apart of the Rock culture! Rock and Rap song were some of the best ever made still today! For an institution that is dedicated to immortalizing rock and roll’s greatest heroes, there are many inductees in there who are not quite typically thought of as rock artists.

You’ve got Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC, Miles Davis, Madonna, and Tupac in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The confusion behind these inductees lies not with the quality of their work, but rather the categorization of it.

There are four other artists who have been nominated but have yet to be inducted—Afrika Bambaataa, LL Cool J, Eric B. and Rakim, N.W.A—and four more groups who have been considered for the ballot but who have not yet been nominated—Boogie Down Productions, De La Soul, the Sugarhill Gang, and the Treacherous Three.

There are twenty-six Hip Hop songs in the Hall of Fame’s list of the Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Ever since Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five became the first Hip Hop group inducted in 2007, it started a trend of inducting that will most likely continue in the future.

Hip Hop is a part of the heritage of rock and roll. To put it in more definitive terms, Hip Hop is rock and roll. o, Hip Hop does not usually contain catchy electric guitar riffs. No, Hip Hop is usually not melodic throughout except for hooks. No, most rappers do not usually specialize in particular instruments.

Kool Herc would take funk records by pioneers and mix and match them to create break beats which dancers would break dance to and he would rap over. “Rapper’s Delight”, released in 1979 and considered the first song to popularize Hip Hop as a musical genre.

“Rapper’s Delight” is a heavily sampled Chic’s “Good Times” song. Afrika Bambaataa’s seminal single “Planet Rock”, released just a year after, sampled Kraftwerk and the rock band Babe Ruth. In 1984, Run-DMC released their debut album, featuring the song “Rock Box”, a demonstration in electric guitar. Only the year after would they release King of Rock.

In 1986, the former punk band known as the Beastie Boys released their Hip Hop debut Licensed to Ill, also with much use of electric guitar and samples from bands such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.

As seen with these examples, most of the notable early Hip Hop records have featured samples of rock songs or elements of rock. All of this does not mean that the two genres have always enjoyed a pleasant relationship. Many Hip Hop artists have attempted to put a wall between themselves and rock music.

On “Rock the Bells”, LL Cool J disses Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, and Prince over electric guitar chords. Gangsta rap pioneer Schoolly D wrote an open letter with “I Don’t Like Rock and Roll”.

Gene Simmons called out Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Run-DMC and for not being “rock artists”. David Crosby has tweeted that “rap isn’t music”. Noel Gallagher claimed that having Jay-Z headline Glastonbury in 2008 was just “wrong”; Jay replied by playing “Wonderwall” at his festival set.

In between the mutual respect and conflict, the question still struggles to be answered. Is Hip Hop rock and roll? Take another look at the list of rockers who were influenced by Hip Hop in its inception. Is it an accident that those who caught on the trend early, including Blondie and the Clash, were punk rockers who worked in the antithesis of pop music? The same case goes for Sonic Youth and Nirvana, two of the most influential alternative bands of the ’90s.

The point here is, rock and roll was a genre that shook society and changed the world when it was first conceived. The innovators—the ones who kept finding new sounds in rock and roll—were the ones who also embraced Hip Hop as it emerged as a denizen of the music world. Hip Hop emerged as a musical force of invention, and it was encouraged by the innovators. After all, isn’t rock and roll all about change?

Why 2Pac Should Be In Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame

This had been a debated decision all over the globe. +Tupac Shakur has been inducted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Tupac "2Pac" Shakur will be officially inducted in April 2017 as part of the incoming class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

As far as his music, his lyrics was not the same as the hip-hop you get today. Twenty years after his death following a drive-by shooting, Tupac's influence is nearly as great as it was in life. Hundreds of posthumous recordings have been released, and he's shaped a generation of rappers who came after him.

Tupac pioneered hip hop’s celebration of rags-to-riches success, its poetic lyricism and its political undercurrents, selling more than 75 million albums worldwide in the process.

What Songs Will Last A Lifetime To You?

Whether you listen to rap, dance, hip-hop, techno, country, jazz, rock-n-roll, or pop music, the Wrap-Up Magazine would like to know, what song last a lifetime to you?

Nielsen Music, the industry-standard information and sales tracking sector, released a mid-year report highlighting 2020's current most popular genre. Stats reveal hip-hop as America's favorite and most influential genre, so far.

If you’re a songwriter, I would think that longevity is something you strive for when writing a tune. You want your music to live on, especially if your career doesn’t. We love the nineties. The nineties gave us grunge and gangster rap as well as (unfortunately) a cringeworthy combination of the two.

Additionally, the 1990s gave us Nirvana, Beyonce, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Beck, The Fugees, Snoop Dogg, Green Day, and Smashing Pumpkins. The following decade is when pop truly took over, followed closely behind by rap. It’s when rock started to fade a bit despite stellar offerings from Kings of Leon and Green Day.

Name Your Favorite Kiss Song

Rock N Roll is making a big splash on the Wrap-Up Magazine. This time Fans Favorite brings in the famous band Kiss into the category. KISS can easily be named one of rock's most influential bands.

More gold records than any American band. Kiss might be the Hottest Band In The Land™, but there's always more to learn from there fans. From their first days together, KISS supposedly created an image linked to Nazis, Satan, and blood. That image has become a marketing juggernaut and demonstrates why people are split when it comes to the KISS rock and roll legacy.

To some, KISS is known for their outrageous outfits, makeup, and antics - everything from Gene Simmons's tongue action to on-stage blood-spewing and fire-breathing - aspects which reach far beyond their music.

While the band hasn't had a hit since the late 1970s, they continue to sell merchandise and profit from their connections with the Prince of Darkness.

What is the truth when it comes to KISS and their hardcore rock and roll lifestyle? What do fans have to say about Kiss? Do you have a favorite song you have payed the most?

Whats Your Favorite Led Zeppelin Song?

The English rock band formed in London in 1968 consisted of vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham to form the group Led Zeppelin.

After the accidental death of drummer John Bonham, Led Zeppelin made the difficult decision to break up in 1980. Its been said that Led Zeppelin created the overall blueprint of a rock band.

Essentially Led Zeppelin had some sort of influence on a large majority of popular musicians and groups. They were many things but everything they did was artistic.

It was voted in 2000 by VHS as the #3 song on its list of "Greatest Rock Songs" and landed the #31 spot on Rolling Stone magazine's "Greatest Songs of All Time" list. "Stairway to Heaven" was the most requested song on FM radio in the 1970s.

Which lead the Wrap-Up Magazine to ask, what is your favorite song from Led Zeppelin? "Stairway to heaven" was chosen by its members and still remains there top single. Leave your comments below!

New #Documentary on Motley Crue

Mötley Crüe was formed on January 17, 1981, when bassist Nikki Sixx left the band London and began rehearsing with drummer Tommy Lee and vocalist/guitarist Greg Leon.

Even in the sex and drugs-crazed world of rock and roll, the stories about Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee were so outrageous, we still talk about it today. For the hair metal band Motley Crue, 'The Dirt' was a fitting title for a collection of true stories and biographical film.

Hell bent on changing the musical landscape and acquiring fame, Los Angeles' Motley Crue became emblematic of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll”.

Guns N' Roses Still Reaches More Than 5 Million Fans

Guns N' Roses
Guns N' Roses' Not in This Lifetime reunion tour with Slash and Duff McKagan continues to produce incredible figures in testimony of GNR's rarified place in rock and roll history.

The tour has made a little over 140 stops at arenas, stadiums and festivals around the world since kicking off in 2016. All those shows mean GNR has performed for some 5 million people over the last two years, reports Live Nation.

Earlier this summer, Guns N' Roses broke Metallica's record for concert attendance in Sweden and became the most-viewed band on YouTube to come out of the '80s or '90s.

The tour is coming to an end this December as the band takes its bows in cities in Asia and the Pacific.

After that, everybody but Slash will take a vacation, then the band is expected to consider putting some new music together.

GNR's most recent release was the Locked N' Loaded special edition box set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its groundbreaking debut album, Appetite for Destruction, which rocketed back into the top 10 on the album charts this past summer.

The band's last new music release was 2008's Chinese Democracy, or what Slash has referred to as "Axl's album."

Who Is The King Of Rap?

How do one put a label or tag someone as the king of rap? How do you mix classic rap tracks with today's style of music?

Tupac would probably be the most influential rapper of all time, while Eminem holds the record as the highest selling artist.

The first “Rap” song to ever hit the radio was a joint called “Rapper's Delite” by a group called the Sugar Hill Gang. Rapping first gained popularity in the U.S. in the 1970s as a kind of street art, especially among African American teenagers.

Rap music is cited as the biggest music genre in the world with some of the best selling artists ever. From MC Hammer to Biggie, the Beastie Boys to Eminem, these are the best-selling rap albums to hit music stores.

The Wrap-Up Magazine wants to debate with you on who is the greatest rapper. Everyone has their own opinion on who is the best. Leave a comment below and be sure to share.

Whether it's spitting a flow on the stage or competing for the No.1 spot on the Billboard charts, hip-hop artists are always getting into some type of battle.

While some people are still debating who the king of R&B is, Gucci Mane is mulling over who is the king of rap, and according to him, it shouldn't be the genre's previous champion Eminem.

Like it or not to be the king of rap you have to achieve both commercial and artistic success, and it really matters how much a rapper has sold.

"This Thing Called Hip Hop"

Hiphopbattle.com: One of the world's oldest hip hop websites specializing in urban progressive events and films. In 1999, Velocity Productions founded Hiphopbattle.com. It currently stands as one of the world’s oldest hip hop websites. In 2001, Velocity Productions completed the narrative feature film Hiphopbattle.com: HipHop for Life, which premiered at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and later screened at the Sundance Film Festival (2002) and Acapulco Black Film Festival (2001). Following the success of Hip-Hop 4 Life, the company produced a national city vs. city mc battle documentary series. This fifth and final installment of the series, Hip Hop Life (2007) became one of the first streaming hip hop movies on Netflix. It is now available on both iTunes and Amazon. The original mission of the website was to end all violence within the culture of hip hop through the elevation of MC Battle competitions. Over the last decade, the website has evolved its mission into creating the Neo-Hip-Hop movement.
