Things You Didn't Know About Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck History

Number 10 – They got engaged the same year JLO's marriage plan to Cris Judd ended

This may sound a bit weird to many people, but to Bennifer, an acronym for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, it's not. The two celebrities actually met each other for the first time in 2001 when they were both casts in the movie "Gigli", which happened to be the same year Jennifer Lopez got married to Cris Judd.

Number 9 – Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

The relationship timeline between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez would be incomplete without adding the phase of Ben Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The thing was that in 2002, Ben Affleck was already engaged to Jennifer Lopez. But having met Jennifer Garner during the production set of Pearl Harbor, a movie where they were both casts together, it appears there was a fling between the two.

Number 8 – Jennifer Lopez's third studio album was influenced by her love for Ben Affleck

When two people are in love, there is no length they can't go for each other. That was exactly what played out between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. No doubt, Jennifer Lopez was and still is a music sensation, but people who know of her relationship with Ben Affleck will truly understand every line of her third studio album.

Number 7 – The Bennifer that never happened

In 2003, everyone was expecting the Bennifer wedding to take place, but it did not happen. The credible reason why they called off their relationship on the official side was the media attention about their private life.

Number 6 – Race and sexism were a factor

For Jennifer Lopez, the media and Gigli's flop was the primary reason she and Ben Affleck did not walk down the aisle in 2003. But in Ben Affleck's opinion, that was not the point. For him, race was to be blamed for his breakup with Jennifer Lopez. Ben Affleck told Vanity Fair that "I think it has to do with race and class, the fact that I'm white and she's Puerto Rican. That's what's underneath, although nobody says it, because it's not politically correct,"

Number 5 – They both moved on like nothing ever happened

After they separated and officially ended their engagement in 2004, the speed at which they moved on was surprising. It was as if nothing ever happened between the two stars. It started first with Jennifer Lopez in 2004 when she got married to Marc Anthony, a longtime friend who would later be the father of her twin children.

Number 4 – They were still communicating after the breakup

Bennifer between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez did not happen, but it appears they did not stop communicating with each other. During an appearance on Katie Couric's talk show titled "Katie," Jennifer Lopez said she and Ben Affleck might not be married as they would have loved to, but they have always maintained constant communication with each other. She told Katie, "We talk and we email, more email than anything,"

Number 3 – The Kissing on the yacht

When Jennifer Lopez posted the picture of herself with Ben Affleck on a yacht, the media lapped it up with various headlines. But this will not be the first time they are having that kind of picture.

Number 2 – They had similar upbringings

Well, it's always nice to find someone who shares a home, family and background that's similar to yours. With that, you can always laugh about stories of life before fame that you both relate to, and it just makes the bond stronger. That was the case with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez as they bonded because of their similar upbringing.

Number 1 – Ben Affleck chose the engagement ring

For many people who doubt that Ben Affleck has any sense of style, there's news for you. The custom-made solitaire ring that Jennifer Lopez got as an engagement ring was actually picked out by Ben Affleck himself. This was a Harry Winston pink diamond that would put a lot of engagement rings to shame. At 6.1 carats, it's not so shocking that it is worth as much as 2 million dollars.
