Roc-A-Fella Records, LLC. is an American hip hop record label and music management company founded by record executives and entrepreneurs Damon "Dame" Dash, Kareem "Biggs" Burke, and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter in 1994.

After being turned down by several major labels, Carter, Dash and Burke started their own label through Priority RecordsRoc-A-Fella begins to expand beyond one figurehead artist. Although Jay-Z remained the label's prominent image, other Roc Nation artists began to gain popularity and acceptance.

Murder Inc. Records is an American record label founded by brothers Chris and Irv Gotti in 1998. The label's flagship artist is Ja Rule. According to Chris Gotti, Murder Inc. had sold over 30 million units worldwide and grossed over $500 million.

After helping Def Jam with the success of DMX, Jay-Z, and Ja Rule, Russell Simmons gave Irv Gotti his own label under Def Jam. In 2004 it was renamed to The INC Records, but was revamped back to its old name in 2016.
