Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ Is No. 1 Album of 2020

The eighth album by Taylor Swift, “Folklore,” has gone down as the No. 1 album of 2020, finishing the year with 2.3 million album units. It pulled ahead in the end over Lil Baby’s star-making sophomore effort, “My Turn,” which came in second with 2.1 million in the album-equivalent-unit derby.

The results come via Rolling Stone, which broke down the year’s music consumption data into several different year-end charts, with the differences providing some interesting points of comparison. For instance: Swift also tops the list of the year’s biggest sellers — and Lil Baby is nowhere to be found in that particular top 10. On the other hand, Lil Baby easily landed atop a ranking of the year’s biggest streamers — and Swift is absent from that top 10.

On the overall list of the top 100 albums of 2020 — which represents a combination of streaming and sales data — the Swift and Lil Baby albums were followed in the top 10 by efforts from Pop Smoke, the Weeknd, Juice WRLD, Post Malone, Roddy Ricch, Luke Combs, Harry Styles and, getting its shot at No. 10 for the year, the “Hamilton” cast album.

Selena Gomez or Taylor Swift

Celebrity Match Up is back at it. This time bring you Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. The two has feuded for years and now have come to find a way to settle their beef. But now, where asking fans to nominate the best out of the two.

Selena Gomez is making fans' dreams come true after teasing new music earlier this week. After appearing on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004), she received wider recognition for her portrayal of Alex Russo.

Gomez won three Teen Choice Awards for her lead role in the fantasy teen sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place. She won the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress, five times in a row.

Taylor Swift is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music.

Swift won the Billboard Woman of the Year for the second time after being honored in 2011. Her 2014 studio album—the pop-focused 1989—earned her three awards at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, including her second Album of the Year win, making her the first woman to win the award twice.

So who would you name out of the two to be your most favorite? Better yet, who do you think dresses the best? Lets have a discussion on this topic.

Taylor Swift Donates $13,000

Taylor Swift is spreading the holiday joy this difficult season, helping out those in need. Billboard can confirm the star donated $13,000 (very on brand) to two mothers' GoFundMe pages after reading a Washington Postarticle spotlighting Americans who are behind on rent due to the government's lack of stimulus agreement amid the COVID-19 crisis.

One Nashville-based woman, Nikki Cornwell, is a single mother and shared that she is $5,000 behind on rent, and that she isn't sure her kids will have a Christmas this year. "this has been a horrible year for us," she wrote on her fundraising page, noting that she was supposed to start a job in May, but that was sidetracked when she tested positive for coronavirus. "Its been rough because I'm not the only person looking for work. My family would appreciate any help this holiday. I am definitely praying for miracles. God bless everyone."

#Stream Taylor Swift - Midnights #Album

With its confident songwriting and understated synth-pop, Taylor Swift’s sophisticated 10th album indicates that she no longer feels she has to compete with her peers.

Still, perhaps it’s inevitable that people are intrigued as to Swift’s next move. There has been a lot of talk in recent years about the willingness of big stars to service their fans with more of the same.

The Nannaria swiftae — or vernacularly, the Swift Twisted-Claw Millipede — is one of 16 new species named by Virginia Tech scientists Derek Hennen, Jackson Means, and Paul Marek in a new paper published via ZooKeys. Hennen, the study’s lead author, is the avowed Swiftie who selected the name, noting on Twitter that he chose it for that specific millepede species because, so far, it’s only been found in Tennessee.

Rihanna, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift named 'Music's Most Iconic Figures'

Beyoncé, Rihanna and Taylor Swift are the only music acts included on Forbes’ annual list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, where they’re sharing rarefied air with the likes of Queen Elizabeth II, Oprah Winfrey and Vice-President elect Kamala Harris.

“The leaders on Forbes’ 2020 list of the World’s Most Powerful Women are playing a critical role in determining what the post-pandemic world will look like.” “Their influence is being leveraged beyond economic and political might to transform industries and solve for society’s most urgent issues. The power they hold to move us all forward has never been more apparent — or needed.

Rihanna ranks highest among the singing icons, at No. 69, mostly for her charitable efforts. The$800 million Bajan beauty donated millions of dollars to various charities, including coronavirus relief efforts, and to help abuse victims in L.A. and the needy in New York City. Of course, the “Only Girl in the World” chanteuse is also a business maven, thanks to her Fenty Beauty line and Savage X Fenty lingerie line — expanded through a landmark partnership with LMVH, the French conglomerate, which is at the helm of Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton.

#Stream Taylor Swift - Love Story

Taylor Swift's experiment with her old songs is proving to be fruitful out of the gate -- the early numbers are in for the first song of the big batch ahead of her, and they're not too shabby.

Billboard documented the single-day download and radio play data that has come in since Taylor released "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" on Friday ... the initial, re-recorded mega-hit track of hers in what could be a long line of re-releases she's vowed to distribute anew.

Taylor Swift Unveils 'Willow' Music Video

Taylor Swift introduced her fans to the world of Evermore on Friday (Dec. 11), and to celebrate Folklore's "sister album," the star dropped a music video for "Willow."

The romantic vignette finds the star following a flowing gold string, which leads her to her lover whom she can't reach, whether she's blocked by a reflection in the water or a glass screen. Playing off the idea of Folklore's "invisible string," she continues to travel until she finds her soulmate on the other side of the thread. "The more that you say, the less I know / Wherever you stray, I follow /I'm begging for you to take my hand / Make my plans, that's my man," the chorus fittingly narrates the video.

Mariah Carey Now Has the Longest-Running Holiday No. 1 Hit Songs

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is on top of the Hot 100 yet again, becoming the longest-running holiday No. 1 song ever. Earlier this month, she previously tied “The Chipmunk Song,” the only other holiday No. 1, which ran for four weeks beginning in 1958; Taylor Swift’s “willow” knocked Carey down to second last week before her return to the top spot.

“All I Want for Christmas” first hit No. 1 in 2019, 25 years after its release, thanks largely to a dedicated buying and streaming push from fans. That seems to have been the case this time, too, after Carey’s song broke Spotify’s single-day streaming record on Christmas. Since Billboard forward-dates its charts, “All I Want for Christmas” will be No. 1 on the January 2, 2021 chart, giving Carey the honor of being our first top song of the New Year — an honor she also nabbed last year with the same song. Always a step ahead, that woman.

50 Cent Talks Justin Bieber

"He's going through those phases growing up. It's like Michael Jackson issues," 50 told Sharon Osbourne and co-hosts Sheryl Underwood, Sarah Gilbert, Aisha Taylor and guest host Thomas Lennon. "Everybody gets a little tougher when I'm around." What 50 was alluding to was how much fun Bieber seemed to be having as he went about spraying champagne on the crowd.

Justin Bieber came up as a topic of conversation during Tuesday's episode of "The Talk" [August 2], and along with mention of the mega pop star came a comparison to the King of Pop. With 50 Cent stopping in as the show's guest, reference was made to Justin's behavior while attending a recent party hosted by the "Power" producer; behavior which Fif likened to that of MJ himself.

Bieber has resurfaced on Hip Hop's radar over the past week with him showing up Taylor Swift while face timing with Kanye West early Tuesday. The Instagram photo he posted of this time with Ye would draw 150k comments by the day's end.

Bieber's rock star attitude was scrutinized earlier in the year when he made it known that he would no longer sign autographs or take random selfies with fans in public. Those conditions would allegedly lead to his confrontation with a fan whose request for a signature he'd reject and would up exchanging blows with in Cleveland in early June.

Understanding The Jennifer Lopez Documentary “Halftime” At Tribeca Festival

The Jennifer Lopez documentary “Halftime” is kicking off the 21st Tribeca Festival on Wednesday, launching the annual New York event with an intimate behind-the-scenes portrait of the singer-actor filmed during the tumultuous year she turned 50, co-headlined the Super Bowl and narrowly missed out on an Oscar nomination.

The star-studded, musical premiere at the United Palace in Washington Heights serves as an appropriate opener for the Tribeca Festival, which has jettisoned “Film” from its name to better reflect the wide array of concerts, talks, television premieres, podcasts and virtual reality exhibits that increasingly fill its busy live-event schedule alongside movies.
