Police are investigating after someone spray painted a racial slur on the front gate of LeBron James’ home in Los Angeles on the eve of the NBA Finals. Capt. Patricia Sandoval, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman, says James wasn’t at the home at the time. She says the property manager told officers they believe the incident was captured on surveillance video. James’ agent, Rich Paul, declined to comment. James and the Cleveland Cavaliers play the Golden State Warriors in NBA Finals beginning Thursday night, with Game 1 in Oakland.

Kobe Bryant top vote-getter for 18th and final All-Star Game. Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is an All-Star for the 18th time, and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is notably not among the West’s starting five.

Fans overwhelmingly chose Bryant to be an All-Star starter, voting for him almost 1.9 million times, the most among all players. Bryant will start alongside Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, Thunder swingman Kevin Durant and San Antonio Spurs wing Kawhi Leonard.

“It’ll be a special All-Star because this is Kobe’s last run,” Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heatsaid.

Durant and Westbrook are All-Stars together for the fifth time, breaking a tie with Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp for most appearances by Thunder/SuperSonics teammates. Durant has scored more than 30 points in four straight All-Star Games, and Westbrook was MVP of the 2015 game.

Curry, the reigning NBA MVP, was second among fans with 1.6 million votes. Curry’s father, Dell, finished his career in Toronto, and the league’s leading scorer will make his third straight All-Star start there.

“It’s going to be a fun experience for both sides of my family,” Curry said in a video posted by the Warriors. “I lived there for three years, my wife is from there, she has a lot of family that still is up there that’s going to be able to celebrate with us. So I’m going to enjoy it and look forward to it.”

The Eastern Conference starters are Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, Indiana Pacers forward Paul George, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry and Wade. James was the top fan choice for the East team with 1.1 million votes.

LeBron James scored his 39,000th point as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a 131-99 victory over the Utah Jazz, completing an undefeated run through the NBA In-Season Tournament's group play. With ballers like James Harden, Chandler Parsons, Demarcus Cousins and Klay Thompson snagged to hit the runway, the show will have three segments: attire worn to the game, dressing for the boardroom and a night out on the town. The one-hour show will actually double as a competition, starting off with eight players, four will go to the second round and two will advance to the finals.

Phil Jackson Signs With Knicks

The +New York Knicks has chosen +Phil Jackson as their head coach. Phil Jackson signed on to become president of the New York Knicks after a lunch meeting with team officials. Todd Musburger, Jackson’s Chicago-based agent, was in Los Angeles to finalize the contract with Jackson and Knicks officials, according to sources. Jackson’s deal is expected to pay him $12 million a year.

Jackson, who has won a record 11 NBA championships as coach of the Lakers and Bulls and two as a Knicks player, likely will spend significant time in New York but also retain his time in Los Angeles. Jackson will take over the running of the Knicks’ basketball operations department from president and general manager Steve Mills. A source said earlier this week that Mills will remain an integral part of the organization.

While there was significant interest in bringing him back to the Lakers in some capacity, it never reached a level where Jackson’s representatives were formally contacted, as it was clear to all involved that the Lakers would not offer a role that offered nearly as much power as the Knicks did.

Pleasure P Catches DUI Charge On New Year's Eve

According to Sources, Marcus Ramone Cooper was speeding over 100 mph (160 kph) Friday (Dec. 28) when he was stopped. The report says the singer known as Pleasure P “reeked of alcohol” and refused to perform sobriety tests. Breath tests showed Cooper’s blood alcohol level was twice Florida’s legal limit.

Cooper told officers he was celebrating his birthday and asked them to call his attorney, the singer Flo Rida and retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal.

The Love & Hip Hop Miami cast member was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and resisting arrest. He was released from Miami-Dade County jail Friday.

LeBron James Makes Big Come Back vs Miami Heat

LeBron James stepped onto the floor at American Airlines Arena and put on a show. The four-time NBA MVP won his first two championships with the Miami back in 2012 and 2013 after forming the big three with him, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. Those baskets seemed so familiar to James because he could not miss. He scored 28 of his 51 points in the first half of play and kept his foot on the gas for the entire ball game.

The Lakers have won 5 of their last 6 games. Prior to Saturday’s road loss to the Magic, the Lakers were on a four-game winning streak. On Wednesday James will make his return back home to Cleveland. It will be Lebron’s first game back since joining the Lakers this summer, one of two meetings between the teams. The Cavs will play the Lakers in LA on Christmas Day as well.

“It’s always great to be here,” said the three-time Finals MVP. James embraced a number of people with hugs before the game began. “We had some not so good times, we had more great times, so it’s always a respect factor and a love for the people in Miami and especially the people who work here.” James tallied 48 points heading into the final 20 seconds. With the clock winding down, he was challenged by teammate Lance Stevenson to go for 51.
