Cavaliers Fire Mike Brown

The +Cleveland Cavaliers has just fired their coach +Mike Brown. Brown was fired for the second time in four years by owner Dan Gilbert, who last April brought back the only coach to get the Cavs to the NBA Finals but then dismissed him after the team failed to make the playoffs.

The Cavs went 33-49 under Brown, who had four years remaining on his contract. He was fired last year by the Los Angeles Lakers just five games into his second season. Brown was let go in 2010 after the Cavs failed to advance past the conference semifinals. At the time, it appeared Gilbert was making the move — and hiring Byron Scott as coach — to appease LeBron Jamesand keep him in Cleveland. James, though, decided to leave for Miami as a free agent.

The Cavs improved defensively under Brown, moving from last in the league in field goal percentage to 12th. But the offense was a continued work in progress and the Cavs didn’t make a late playoff push despite a favorable schedule down the stretch.

While the Cavs showed signs of progress with Brown, he was unable to get one of the league’s youngest teams to play consistently. There were also some personality conflicts between All-Star guard Kyrie Irving and backcourt mate Dion Waiters. Although the two claimed to get along, there was little harmony on the court.

Ben Carson Gets Stuck In A Elevator

Neurosurgeon-turned-Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson recently ran into some trouble, as he was stuck in a housing development elevator. Carson was visiting Miami's Courtside Family Apartments along with the Dade County Public Housing Director Michael Liu when he, the Director, and five others became stuck in the elevator. According to the Miami Herald, former NBA player Alonzo Mourning was supposed to be attending the event because his nonprofit was a co-developer of the apartments. Since he was late, this resulted in him not being trapped in the elevator with Carson.

Carson, his wife, and several others were heading to meet residents in the building when the elevator became stuck, resulting in the group being trapped for about 20 minutes total. Firefighters arrived on the scene and freed the group around 9 A.M. this morning. According to the Miami Herald, as soon as Carson was released from the elevator, he said: "Well, we got all of our questions answered."

Patrick Ewing Becomes New Head Coach Of Georgetown University

Georgetown University standout alumni Patrick Ewing is returning to his alma mater as their new head coach. Ewing, who has served as an NBA assistant for 15 years, helped Georgetown win their only national Championship title back in 1984. He will be replacing John Thompson III, who was dismissed two weeks ago.

Ewing sent out a statement following the news, which read, “My four years at Georgetown were the best of my life. Georgetown is my home and it is a great honor for me to return to my alma mater and serve as the next head coach. I have been preparing to be a head coach for many years and can't wait to return to the Hilltop."

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said some kind words about Ewing on Monday (April 3) after working with him for over a decade. He said, “I've had the privilege of working with him for 12 years with three organizations and I know the effort he has put into coaching. He has attacked this profession with the same mentality he had as a player, with hard work, dedication and a passion for the game of basketball. I'm thrilled that all of Patrick's hard work has paid off and he has earned the opportunity to be Georgetown's head coach. We wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his coaching career." Back in 2001, Iverson signed a ‘lifetime’ deal with the shoe company.

What NFL Team Is Jay-Z Buying? And Why Is Everyone Mad?

I'm seeing a'lot of bad talk around Jay-Z purchasing a NFL team of his own. People have been talking bad since Colin Kaepernick did not get mentioned to the point it would reinstate him.

In my eyes, If Jay-Z owns the team, that could mean he is calling shots right? So that mean he has the opportunity to give Colin Kaepernick another round at stardom.
