Turk Rejoins Cash Money

After settling a lawsuit for past owed royalties from Cash Money and a previous beef, original Hot Boys rapper Turk announced that he has signed a deal with Cash Money yet again. The Louisiana native told followers, "Real n*** just signed back with Cash Money...Y'all just stop trying to figure this s*** out and just accept it for what it is."

Last February, Turk filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against Cash Money, as he claimed that he was never paid for the roughly 80 songs he helped create while previously signed to the label. Last June he requested that the judge drop the lawsuit, as he revealed that he reached an amicable settlement with Cash Money.

Gansta Marcus released a statement to The Wrap-Up Magazine about Birdman and Suge Knight. He speaks on Lil Wayne suing the person who found him, and Suge Knight facing prison time. Read and comment on the statement below as they are stated by him.

"The beef the is acquiring between Lil Wayne and Birdman is small to tell you the truth. All +Lil Wayne wants is him money that he feel is owed to him. Birdman has not made a statement on the current situation, but i'm sure he is working out something behind the scenes. At least I hope for legal sakes."

Jay Z Splits From Longtime Business Partner

Jay Z has ended his partnership with John Meneilly, a man he once called his ‘consigliere.’
On to the next one. Jay Z and Solange Knowles may have (publicly at least) squashed whatever beef led to their now-infamous elevator brawl, but Hova and his longtime business manager are over.

Music industry insiders exclusively tell Confidenti@l that Jay Z has cut ties with John Meneilly, who helped build the “Empire State” rapper’s empire. Music industry insiders tell Confidenti@l that news of Meneilly’s departure started making the rounds shortly before Memorial Day weekend.

The former Provident Financial executive is largely credited with navigating the rise of the Rocawear clothing line, which Jay Z sold off for $200 million in 2007 while maintaining marketing and licensing rights. Meneilly is also credited as one of the architects behind Jay Z’s huge deal with Samsung last year, which instantly moved a million copies of the rapper’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail.” Meneilly was also a chief player at Roc Nation, which has grown from a record label to a talent management group that reps Yankee CC Sabathia and former Bronx Bomber Robinson Cano.

The “99 Problems” rapper is having a rough couple of weeks for sure. In addition to a surveillance video that went public of his sister-in-law pummeling him after the Met Ball gala in mid-May, photos of Jay and Bey sufaced in the Hamptons last weekend while his “Watch the Throne” collaborator Kanye West was marrying Kim Kardashian in Europe. Jay Z is also being sued for $7 million by an artist who says the rapper ripped off his Roc-A-Fella records logo design in 1995. Jay Z’s legal team is trying to postpone that case while Mr. and Mrs. Carter are on tour this summer.

Kanye West Buys Spotify Music

Forbes declared Kanye West, a billionaire around this time last year, evaluating his worth at $1.3 billion. Kanye West disagreed and said the estimate was about $2 billion off. And he just proved to us all that he wasn’t lying. It’s official: As of today, the fashion and music mogul has just acquired the ever-popular audio streaming platform, Spotify.

Something big like this isn’t unpredictable for Kanye West, but people are curious about his intentions for buying out Spotify. Some are saying it’s just another outcome of the rivalry with long-time collaborator Jay-Z, who once held a majority stake in Tidal. I guess the Chicago native was really taking Watch The Throne literally… When will the Jay and Ye beef end?!

B.I.G. SUV Sells For $1.5 Million

One week after the BMW Tupac was shot in on the Vegas strip in 1996 was put on the market for $1.5 million, the SUV Biggie was murdered in in 1997 went up for sale for the same cost.

On Thursday, March 2, it was announced that the sale of the green GMC Suburban the Brooklyn rapper was riding shotgun in when a gunman pulled up alongside the vehicle and took his life in L.A. in 1997, has gone public. Its current owner divulged to TMZ that it was in seeing the price Tupac's car was valued at that she decided to test the market as well.

The owner originally came into possession of the vehicle seven months after B.I.G's murder on March 9 of that year. Intriguingly, she says that the family wasn't even aware of the Suburban's history until 2005, when a detective contacted them to request it as evidence in the rapper's wrongful death trial.

A brand new purchase of the same '97 model today would run a buyer a mere $2,000. But the historical value it now attains is unquestionable with hip hop's rise to rock and roll fame over the past two decades. The passenger seat belt still has a bullet hole in it, to boot. The BMW 750IL Pac was shot in also still had markings of the bullets sprayed into the car, with an indentation in the license plate as well as the door panel. In contrast to the history of the SUV though, Tupac's Beemer has changed hands several times since his shooting.

The Notorious One was gunned down after leaving an industry party in L.A. only six months after Tupac's dramatic death. The fact that his life was stopped on the West Coast, following a public rap beef that was sensationalized by the media as an East vs. West, rivalry has brought the incident to survive with a lasting allure, encapsulated by the time that it took place.

Birdman And Mannie Fresh Reunites

It has been over a decade since Birdman and Mannie Fresh split after a legendary run together as the executive + producer team behind Cash Money Records' rise in the rap game. But come October 7, they will have officially put their long estrangement behind them, as the duo announced a Big Tymers reunion show that will mark Fresh's return to the label.

Holding down the exclusive role as in-house producer of Cash Money since 1993, Mannie Fresh was almost solely responsible for the production work behind the Hot Boys albums that put New Orleans rap on the map. He would also compose the solo projects of members Juvenile, BG, Turk and Lil Wayne, before forming the Big Tymers tandem with the label head himself. But in 2005 a royalties dispute spelled the end of his relationship with Birdman, and the two went their separate ways.

News of the group's restoration comes on the heels of the label's deal to release a documentary titled, "The Cash Money Story: Before Anythang," through Apple Music. On Friday, September 2, tickets went on sale for fans interested in seeing the Big Tymers perform hits off of their 5 album catalog, at the New Orleans' House of Blues. The show promises to feature special guest appearances, and with such a nostalgic Cash Money Films project abound, Birdman just may make a push to bring other members of the original Cash Money camp back into the fold.

Young Thug Changes Album Title

I still lost all respect for +Young Thugga only due to the fact of whats going on with +Birdman and +Lil Wayne. Young Thug has renamed his upcoming album to the Barter 6. In addition to switching the title, Thugga took to Instagram to announce that his first show, following the album’s release, will be in Hollygrove, Louisiana.

Young Thug is referring to the same Hollygrove neighborhood in New Orleans, Lil Wayne and Mack Maine grew up in. “YSL Carter 6 coming out Friday. First show, New Orleans, Hollygrove fuck nigga, meet me there, better yet beat me there,” Thug says in a new Instagram video, as two men stand behind him waving firearms. Just a few days later, Thug uploaded a video to Instagram that features various clips of him performing while a woman narrates what seems to be shots at Wayne and his imprint.

The “New Atlanta” rapper has been using his Instagram account to fuel his feud with Lil Wayne. After Wayne urged fans to “stop listening to songs of niggas who pose naked on their motherfucking album covers,” Thug responded by saying, “I understand that Lil Wayne is frustrated about his career and I feel him on that, but this is my idol. I would never in my life swap words with him or beef with him about nothing. This is a person that I look up to. Ha Ha.”

The Truth About Jennifer Lopez And Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey became the Queen of Shade when she was asked about Jennifer Lopez in the early 2000s and famously replied, quote, "I don't know her." It became an instant meme sensation, but there's a lot more juice to this alleged beef. Here's what really went down between Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey.

Lopez was once accused of lifting ideas from Mariah Carey's Glitter soundtrack in 2001.

Carey reportedly cleared a sample of Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Firecracker" for her lead single, "Loverboy," and tapped rapper Ja Rule for a duet on her track, "If We." But before she could release the songs, Lopez dropped "I'm Real", which sampled "Firecracker", and her "I'm Real" remix, which featured Ja Rule. According to XXL, the publisher for "Firecracker" said Carey cleared the sample first, while Lopez reached out to use the track a month later.

Did Birdman And Young Thug Really Try To Kill Lil Wayne?

Lil Wayne
The Cobb County District Attorney’s office said Friday it will decide in the next couple of weeks whether to charge an Atlanta rapper and a record executive as co-conspirators in the 2015 shooting of Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter’s tour bus.

Prosecutors claim Jimmy “Peewee Roscoe” Winfrey shot up the bus on I-285 after a concert as a way to gain status in a gang.

One theory they initially floated was that Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Jeffrey “Young Thug” Williams put him up to it.

The Georgia Supreme Court overturned Winfrey’s conviction last year after ruling the Cobb County judge improperly coerced him into taking a plea deal and accepting a 10-year prison sentence by threatening he would get more time if a jury convicted him in his court.

On Thursday, the Court of Appeals remanded the case back to Cobb County.

“Mr. Winfrey always denied being the shooter of the bus,” Manny Arora, who represented Winfrey in his first trial, told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik.

The driver of the bus, Alvin Lewis, is suing Winfrey, Birdman and Young Thug, alleging they conspired in the shooting that caused him pain and suffering.

In a civil court filing this week, Lewis’ attorney, Jeff Gewirtz, included pieces of evidence from the criminal case that he argues point to that conspiracy.

Among the documents obtained by Petchenik, phone records that the lawsuit said shows Young Thug called Winfrey eight times in the 12 minutes leading up to the shooting.

Petchenik also obtained a jailhouse phone call referenced in the lawsuit. In it, Bryan “Birdman” Williams is talking to Winfrey.

“Time for you to come out here and get your money,” he can be heard telling Winfrey. “You did everything you could do boss ... it’s eye-opening. (It's) strictly business, man.”

Arora told Petchenik he doesn’t buy the conspiracy argument.

“The musician that was the intended target has never once said, 'these guys did it' or 'there was a beef,'” Arora said. “He’s actually been pretty silent on this whole issue.”

Arora said he believes the civil suit is a money grab.

“This is just a bus driver looking to get paid and they need a deep pocket so if you connect Mr. Winfrey to other musicians or executives, that makes it a viable case for them,” he said.
