What Happened To The Fugees?

Some of the most painful feuds emerge from once-close relationships, including the bitter dispute that led to the breakup of The Fugees, one of the greatest artistic collaborations of the past several decades. The group's second album, The Score, was a massive hit, a timeless masterpiece that straddled the borders between rap, hip-hop, R&B, and rock.

A third album never arrived. Lauryn Hill temporarily left the group before The Score's 1996 release, most likely due to her turbulent romantic relationship with bandmate Wyclef Jean, who was married. The next year, Hill started seeing Bob Marley's son, Rohan. She became pregnant and, according to Jean's memoir, lied to him about the child's paternity.

What Would R. Kelly Say About Jacqees Naming His Album King of R&B?

Jacquees is teasing at R. Kelly and the rest of the R&B singers as he has just released a new album titled 'King of R&B.' I'm just imagining what R. Kelly things about this while he is still locked up behind bars.

Jacquees had boldly claimed he was the 'King Of R&B', but R Kelly, John Legend and more had a few things to say last year. Tyrese and Tank took to social media to firmly assert R.Kelly is the king of R&B and that Jacquees is a new artist who still has work to do.

Slaves For Sale In Libya

CNN published an investigative report that detailed several “slave markets” in Libya. Adults and youth were being sold for close to $400 as day labourers. The auctions took place in nine areas outside of Tripoli in the North African country.

The Government of National Accord said the country “is going through difficult times which affected its own citizens as well. It is, therefore, not fair to assume responsibility for the consequences of this immigration, which everyone unanimously agreed that addressing this phenomenon exceeds the national capacities.”

Cocaine is smuggled to Guinea-Bissau from Latin America before finding its way to Europe as well as the US.

Dave Chappelle Is No Fan Of Staten Island

One thing is clear from watching Dave Chappelle’s new Netflix special: He’s no fan of Staten Island.

In addition to calling the borough an “awful place, Chappelle said: " F– everybody on Staten Island except the Wu-Tang Clan" in the special, dubbed “8:46” that can be viewed on YouTube.

In addition to bashing Staten Island, Chappelle addresses rallies and issues surrounding the death of George Floyd, killings of African Americans and police brutality in the 27-minute show. He commended the youth for the demonstrations, and expressed his outrage over Floyd’s death.

Who Is The King Of Rap?

How do one put a label or tag someone as the king of rap? How do you mix classic rap tracks with today's style of music?

Tupac would probably be the most influential rapper of all time, while Eminem holds the record as the highest selling artist.

Versace Sued By Employees

A former employee at a Pleasanton, California Versace store has filed a lawsuit accusing the high-end retailer of discrimination, not only against him, but towards its Black customers.

The suit alleges that during his time as a clerk with the company, 23-year-old Christopher Sampiro was not afforded rest periods and was wrongfully terminated without having received payment for time worked. Sampiro also claims the store carried out a policy of having staff alert co-workers when a Black person entered the establishment by passing mention of it through a secret code.

#NewVideo ArOzA Crew "Asphalt" @arozacrew

The new ArOzA Crew single "Asphalt" comes up with hard kicks and snares and brings back 90s vibes. Dope beats, dope raps, dope cuts.

What‘s realness? Realness is lifestyle, an attitude towards life. It is the essence of what hip hop‘s all about. Unfortunately, this realness has been nearly completely lost in the last few years and is only rarely found in recent productions. One wack song followed by another is released to generate plays and to enter the charts. The realness, the values, the art and the soul of these African American cultures is being sold for a few euros.

Learn More About #Comedian Sheryl Underwood @sherylunderwood

Sheryl Underwood is a name most of you have not heard from in a while. She use to love telling great penis jokes. I truly fell in love with her jokes in "I Got The Hook Up Comedy Jam." Perhaps best known for her role as Catfish Rita in 2005's "Beauty Shop," Sheryl Underwood is a self-described "sexually progressive, God-fearing, black Republican."

Spike Lee Rants Off

+Spike Lee has been heard on audio ranting off in Brooklyn. Speaking Tuesday night in Brooklyn, blocks away from his company headquarters and his father’s apartment, Spike Lee went off on how the neighborhood has changed.

The filmmaker, wearing a Knicks beanie, orange socks, blue Nikes, and “Defend Brooklyn” hoodie, was at Pratt Institute for a lecture in honor of African American History Month, surrounded by locals, when he was nearly asked a question about “the other side” of the gentrification debate.

“Let me just kill you right now,” Lee interrupted, “because there was some bullshit article in the New York Times saying ‘the good of gentrification.’” “I don’t believe that,” said Lee. And for the next seven minutes he explained, with passion, humor, and a fair amount of f-words.

Will The Malcolm X Story Be Remade?

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Archaeologists are digging at a boyhood home of Malcolm X in an effort to uncover more about the slain black rights activist’s early life as well as the property’s long history, which possibly includes Native American settlement. The two-week archaeological dig began Tuesday outside a two-and-a-half story home in Boston’s historically black Roxbury neighborhood that was built in 1874.

Bagley says once the initial rubble is cleared, a ground-penetrating radar survey will be used to determine the best locations to dig. Major excavation work is expected to dig up to four feet into the ground. The site will be open to the public throughout to observe the work.

Rodnell Collins, a nephew of Malcolm X who lived with him in the house, hopes the survey can raise public awareness of his family’s deep roots in Boston. He’s been working for years to renovate the dilapidated structure for public tours and other uses. The house was designated a city landmark in 1998 because it’s the only known dwelling from the outspoken activist’s formative years in Boston still standing.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Little had bounced around from foster homes following his father’s death and his mother’s institutionalization for a nervous breakdown. Little-Collins eventually became his legal guardian. But Little rebelled against family life and landed in a Boston prison for burglary charges in his early 20s. There, he became a Nation of Islam follower and dropped his surname in favor of “X” to represent his family’s lost African ancestral name.

A charismatic speaker, Malcolm X quickly became the Detroit-founded Nation of Islam’s principal spokesman during its rapid rise in the 50s and 60s. He founded temples and mosques up and down the eastern seaboard, promoting a message of black nationalism and denouncing white American culture.

Former Microsoft CEO To Buy Clippers For $2 Billion

Former Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer won a frenetic bidding war for ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers, with his $2-billion offer setting a record price for an NBA team, The Times has learned. Ballmer, who was chief executive of Microsoft for 14 years, was chosen over competitors that included Los Angeles-based investors Tony Ressler and Steve Karsh and a group that included David Geffen and executives from the Guggenheim Group, the Chicago-based owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The sale price is almost four times the highest previous NBA franchise sale price — the $550 million paid earlier this month for the Milwaukee Bucks. It is second only to the Dodgers’ 2012 sale for $2.1 billion as the highest price for any sports team in North America. The prospective sale by Clippers co-owner Shelly Sterling comes five days ahead of an NBA hearing to oust her family from ownership following a controversy in which Donald Sterling insulted African-Americans in a secret audio recording.

The tentative deal still must receive the blessing of her husband, Donald Sterling, who has waxed and waned on the question of whether he would allow his wife to sell the team he has controlled for more than three decades. The deal also needs the eventual approval of 29 other NBA owners, but is expected to clear that hurdle as long as Ballmer reaffirms his pledge to keep the team in Los Angeles and not move it to Seattle, where he lives.
