It speaks volumes when your first-ever appearance on #TheList is at #1. That’s the kind of year Burna Boy has had.

His album, Outside, released as far back as January, is arguably the best album of 2018. His song “Ye” is arguably the biggest song of 2018. With over 60% of Team NJO voting him at #1, Burna Boy is the hottest artist in Nigeria!

Both home and abroad, Burna Boy has flourished. With Fall Out Boy’s “Mania” album earning a Grammy nod for “Best Rock Album“, Burna Boy could be going home with a Grammy in the next couple of months, thanks to his feature on the track “Sunshine Riptide“, the only feature on an album which peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

He also worked with the likes of Major Lazer and Lily Allen, got featured on YouTube’s Artist on the Rise, sold out Brixton Academy, and “Ye” went viral on Spotify USA (thanks in part to Kanye West’s “Ye” album). Let’s not forget, “Outside” got on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. All these and more have led to industry gatekeepers like DJ Ebro predicting a Burna Boy takeover in 2019.

Was Aaliyah And R. Kelly Dating?

Yes Aaliyah and R. Kelly was dating. It was very obvious that they had feelings for each other and did not mind telling the world back then which pretty much accepted it by purchasing the songs.

Aaliyah and R. Kelly never commented on the nature of their relationship. However, in 1994 it was widely reported the two secretly got married. Although a public marriage certificate said she was 18, the singer would have been 15 at the time. In Surviving R. Kelly, his former personal assistant, Demetrius Smith, claims to have attended the wedding and to having helped obtain false documents for underaged Aaliyah.

“I was in the room when they got married. I’m not proud of that. I had papers forged for them when Aaliyah was underaged. It was just a quick little ceremony, she didn’t have on a white dress he didn’t have on a tux. Just every day wear. She looked worried and scared,” Smith alleged. The marriage was purportedly annulled within the year as “her parents had the last say.”

Jovante Cunningham was on tour with R. Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, in the ’90s and alleges her boss and his protégée began a sexual relationship when he was 27 and Aaliyah just 15. “We were out on the road with Aaliyah,” Cunningham said in the first episode. “On a tour bus, there really aren’t many confined spaces. When you get on the bus there are bunks and so these bunks have little curtains you can pull at night if you don’t want anybody to see you sleeping.”

“So it just so happened we were all laying in our bunks and the curtains are open, everybody’s communicating, laughing,” she continued. “When the [room] door flew open on the bus. Robert was having sex with Aaliyah.”

In a statement, Haughton said, “the woman and so-called back up singer … that describes seeing, meeting or even breathing the same air as my daughter, Aaliyah, is lying and is a liar.” Haughton noted she and her husband were “always” on tour with Aaliyah and that have “never seen her before anywhere on planet earth, until now.”

Roku Streaming Service Now Challenging Amazon Prime

Roku just unveiled new streaming TV changes that sound a lot like what Apple is planning. The change gives Roku's media partners a chance to include ad content inside of the Roku app instead of leaving it inside separate apps where fewer viewers can see the ads.

The Roku Channel, a separate section of the Roku user interface on TVs with Roku software and Roku products, will soon let users subscribe to paid content from Showtime, EPIX, Starz and a handful of other, lesser-known networks. Customers will be able to see all of the shows and movies available on those platforms before they subscribe, and can access the movies and TV shows from other devices, such as phones and tablets. They'll also be able to pay for all the services through one bill paid to Roku, instead of a separate bill for each service.

But there's a lot of missing content in Roku's new offering. HBO, Hulu and Netflix aren't available. Those apps are still available outside of "The Roku Channel," but users will need to navigate to the home screen and away from "The Roku Channel," which is clearly where Roku is going to try to keep its users' eyeballs.

The move also sounds similar to what Apple is planning. CNBC reported in October that Apple will mix its free original content with subscription channels inside of the TV app , which is available on iPhones and iPads. Apple may introduce its service as soon as this year.

Burnt Donuts Truck Causes Polices Officers To Cry

At least we have found something that make police officers cry! Even after killing and arresting people, nothing brings officers to their knees like a donuts truck catching fire.

Police in Lexington, Kentucky are offering their own tongue-in-cheek response to the age-old stereotype involving police officers and donuts.  They took to social media to mourn a burnt Krispy Kreme doughnut truck. All donuts were lost in the flames, the cops said.

It wasn’t a small fire. Video of the scene shows smoke billowing to the sky. A closer look showed the truck legit up in flames.

The driver reportedly had discovered the smoking rising from the back and managed to escape. I mean, sure, he was okay, and no humans were reported to be injured, which is fine, I guess, but look! All those donuts! Gone! Obviously, it had a deep, life-changing impact on the responding officers. Police in other parts of the country joined Lexington cops in mourning this irrevocable loss.

In more inspirational news, cops in Florida were rewarded with donuts last October after they tracked down a Krispy Kreme van that had been reported stolen.

In October 2017, A man in Michigan said he’d turn himself into cops on outstanding warrants, bring in donuts as a gift, and collect litter if his Facebook post got 1000 shares. It got 4,000 after 10 days, and he made good on the promise.

Pleasure P Catches DUI Charge On New Year's Eve

According to Sources, Marcus Ramone Cooper was speeding over 100 mph (160 kph) Friday (Dec. 28) when he was stopped. The report says the singer known as Pleasure P “reeked of alcohol” and refused to perform sobriety tests. Breath tests showed Cooper’s blood alcohol level was twice Florida’s legal limit.

Cooper told officers he was celebrating his birthday and asked them to call his attorney, the singer Flo Rida and retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal.

The Love & Hip Hop Miami cast member was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and resisting arrest. He was released from Miami-Dade County jail Friday.

Kim's New Year Message To Trump

Kim said he was willing to meet the U.S. president at any time, mixing in conciliatory messages with his warnings of conflict to Washington and Seoul in his annual speech where he laid out policy priorities for his isolated and impoverished country.

Kim Jong Un said North Korea would take a new path if the U.S. insisted on keeping sanctions, delivering a pointed message to President Donald Trump in his New Year’s address.

In so many way's I feel Kim in his address. He is doing what he has to do for the survival of his country. Kim highlighted recent exchanges with socialist countries, speaking on his trips to China and the Cuban president’s visit to North Korea. China has been the key benefactor for North Korea’s economy.

Kim said he was willing to resume without conditions joint projects with South Korea that were frozen due to political tensions and North Korea’s weapon tests. So he lets things be known he is willing to work out differences.

Kim read his address in a suit and tie, in a departure from recent appearances in which he wore a black tunic. Instead of standing on a podium, Kim delivered a speech sitting on a couch in a Western-style room, illustrating an image of an approachable leader in a fireside chat.

Talks between the U.S. and North Korea have made little progress since Trump and Kim held an unprecedented summit in June and signed to “work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” without defining the term or setting a deadline. The two sides have clashed over the pace and sequence of talks, with North Korea demanding relief from international sanctions and the U.S. seeking more steps toward disarmament.

Mold Found In Staten Island Hospital

More than 50 nurses and other staffers sickened at Staten Island University Hospital after mold found in nursery.

Dozens of people working in the hospital’s maternity unit have reported getting ill with everything from headaches to dizziness to swollen throats in recent months, after air monitoring devices found the presence of mold and trace amounts of anesthetic gases, nurses and administrators say.

53 employees have reported getting sick in the unit, according to both nurses and hospital execs. A nursery has been relocated, but nurses are asking for their entire unit to be moved, something the hospital says is not necessary because tests show the air is safe.

After the odor was reported, babies were moved to a backup nursery in the unit and air monitoring began. Mold was detected at moderately elevated levels, similar to outdoor levels, hospital execs say. Workers found water-borne mold behind a sink wall and decontaminated the area.

The hospital said in a statement that air monitoring this month detected “the presence of anesthetic gases sevoflurane and nitrous oxide, which are routinely used during surgical procedures.”


Those concentrations were “significantly below” the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s recommended exposure limit and pose “no risk to patients, staff or visitors,” the statement said.

A certified air gas specialist was brought in to inspect the gas system’s infrastructure and found zero leaks, hospital administrators say. The air is now being retested to see if the trace amounts still remain.

“Hospital administration has been directly communicating with staff multiple times a week, met with union representatives six times and notified the appropriate regulatory agencies to proactively address this matter,” the statement added.
