Wu-Tang Clan and Nas Announces 'New York State Of Mind Tour'

 

Two of New York’s finest hip-hop acts are coming together for a collaborative tour. On Tuesday (April 19), the Wu-Tang Clan and Nas announced their New York State Of Mind Tour.

Produced by Live Nation, the 25-stop event begins Tuesday, Aug 30 in St. Louis, Missouri and will continue through major cities across North America including Toronto, D.C., Raleigh, Atlanta, Houston, and Oakland, before wrapping up Tuesday, October 4 in Los Angles, California.

Gambino Mobster Charged With Murder

Gambino crime family associate Gennaro “Jerry” Bruno (above) was hit with racketeering charges yesterday. Authorities say Bruno was involved in the 2002 murder of a rival, narcotics trafficking, extortion, and obstruction of justice. The mobster was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, by FBI agents, and faces a long hard time behind bars if he is convicted.

The recent charges are the latest in the illustrious criminal career of 41-year-old Bruno. A career that began as a young punk on the streets of Queens, New York, when he joined a local gang called the Ozone Park Boys, which was also known as the “Liberty Posse” and “Young Guns.” They allegedly were responsible for a wide range of crimes, including car theft and chop-shop operations, drug trafficking, extortion, robbery and gambling.

Just like it was for infamous Mafiosi like former Gambino family underboss Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano and Genovese crime family boss Daniel Leo, Bruno’s start as a member of a street gang was simply a case of proving he was worthy before he was allowed to hang with the big boys of La Cosa Nostra.

“As alleged, Gennaro Bruno started his criminal career at a young age as a member of a street gang where he earned his criminal credentials. He then graduated to become an associate in the Gambino crime family, where he proved himself to be both an earner for the family and capable of murder,” stated United States Attorney Loretta E. Lynch.

When Bruno was released following a prison term from 1997 to 2000, he emerged as an associate of the Gambino crime family. Over the next 14 years, before his arrest yesterday, Bruno allegedly became a member of the crew led by Joseph “JoJo” Corozzo, a powerful Gambino mobster who had risen to become the consigliere of the family.

Together with several other Gambino wiseguys, Bruno moved large quantities of high-potency marijuana from Canada into the New York City area. In 2001, Bruno’s criminal associate Martin Bosshart began efforts to exclude one of Bruno’s coconspirators from the marijuana importation operation.

Such disloyalty had to be punished. On the night of January 2, 2002, Bruno lured Bosshart to an isolated location in Queens. When Bosshart turned his back Bruno allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him in the back of the head at point-blank range, killing him immediately. The body of Martin Bosshart, who was 30 years old at the time, was recovered at the scene.

Thereafter, Bruno evaded justice for years and, according to prosecutors, conspired with other Gambino associates to obstruct an official grand jury proceeding into the Bosshart murder, while continuing to participate in the core money-making activities of the Gambino crime family, including drug trafficking and extortion. Bruno allegedly used his position in the Gambino crime family to extort payments from the owner of a waste carting company in Queens, New York.

Apple Set To Build New Headquarters In Texas

Apple Inc said on Thursday it would spend $1 billion to build a second campus in Austin, Texas that will house as many as 15,000 workers, amid a broader push by many U.S. companies to create more jobs at home.

The iPhone maker had announced at the start of the year it would invest $30 billion in the United States, taking advantage of a tax windfall stemming from U.S. President Donald Trump's sweeping tax reforms.

The 133-acre campus in Austin will employ workers across various functions including engineering, R&D, operations and finance. The city is already home to the second largest number of Apple employees outside its headquarters in Cupertino, California.


Apple will also set up sites in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, California and hire over 1,000 employees each in these locations, while also expanding operations in Pittsburgh, New York and Boulder, Colorado over the next three years.

Many American multinationals have been facing political pressure to ramp up investments at home as part of Trump's "America First" policies, which have left the United States embroiled in a bitter trade war with China. The president has also warned of tariffs on iPhones and other Apple products imported from China.

Apple's technology rival Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) last month ended a months-long search for its second headquarters, picking New York City and an area just outside Washington, D.C. for massive new offices, with plans to create thousands of jobs.

The new Austin campus will be located less than a mile away from Apple's existing facilities, and will first house 5,000 new employees with the capacity to expand to 15,000.

The CLA-Class is Mercedes’ most affordable coupe, based on the redesigned Mercedes A-Class. Launched in 2013, the CLA-Class preceded the A-Class as Mercedes’ entry-level model in the U.S. market, with a starting price of under $30,000 at launch. Sales have declined since the peak of 29,643 units in 2015 to 22,556 last year.

The new CLA 35 is the faster, more exciting version of the entry-level coupe, tuned by the company’s AMG performance division. It makes 305 horsepower from a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which routes power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The GLC coupe — a fastback version of the company’s GLC SUV — also receives a fresh interior with MBUX integration. The new model, which premiers in New York, is a refreshed version of the GLC coupe that debuted for the 2017 model year.

The GLC coupe receives updated lights, a restyled diffuser, a new interior color and an updated engine. While the current GLC 300 coupe offers 241 horsepower from its turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the updated motor will produce 255 horsepower.

Free Middle Class College Tuitions In New York

New York is set to make tuition at public colleges and universities free for middle-class students.The tuition initiative is part of a new state budget approved Sunday by the state Senate, a day after the Assembly approved it.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed the tuition plan, which will cost an estimated $163 million. In-state students whose families earn $125,000 or less will be eligible. Cuomo says the idea is to provide new economic opportunities for New Yorkers by making college more affordable.

The budget was due by April 1, but passage was delayed by difficulties in negotiations.

Although the lyrics of the song sounds like I’m talking about going to another place, I was actually inspired by events that have happened here at home. A lot of the time New York natives don’t enjoy our city as much as other people do and it’s a shame because we have everything right here. People travel from near and far to visit where we live. I see New Yorkers travel to LA and South Beach to things that they could do right across the bridge and they could have saved money on the flight.

South Africa’s Sharks Team Up With Roc Nation

 

The Sharks’ ground-breaking deal with American consortium MVM Holdings has been consolidated by a partnership announcement with Roc Nation, one of the world’s leading marketing companies that promotes the likes of massive singing sensations in Rihanna and Shakira.

The company was founded in 2008 by rapper legend Jay-Z and has offices in New York City, London, Nashville and Los Angeles, and it clearly has the expertise and marketing muscle to grow the Sharks into a global brand.

In the deal formalized a fortnight ago between MVM and the Sharks, New York lawyer Marco Masotti showed he has the financial clout to take the Sharks to a new level and in Roc Nation he has the tool to exhibit the Sharks on the international stage.

New York City showed out for Harlem princess Teyana Taylor and Chi-town hitmaker Jeremih when their “Later That Night Tour” took over the Playstation Theater in Times Square. The evening’s energy was leveled up by opening act DaniLeigh, Def Jam’s latest rising artist. Rocking a flannel sweatshirt with matching pants, the viral “In My Feelings” Challenge star got the audience warmed up with her fan favorites “All I Know” and “Play.”

After a dance break set to 6ix9ine’s “FEFE,” Dani closed the short set with her growing new club track “Lil BeBe.”

Scheduled as the supporting act, it was Teyana Taylor who much of the crowd was there to see, and she delivered a routine filled with hype energy, provocative sexuality, and heartwarming emotion. Well-know for her choreography, Taylor showed off to her greatest inspiration with an outstanding dance routine to Janet Jackson’s “I Get Lonely.”

Jeremih was the show’s headliner but he brought some friends along to turn-up the NYC crowd. The hitmaker took the stage with his breakout smash single “Birthday Sex,” but then asked the fans what they wanted. “I need to know if you want to hear some new shit or some old shit,” he questioned. They screamed, “Old!,” setting up the 50 Cent-featured track “Down On Me.”

Controversial rapper 6ix9ine hit the stage making a feverish entry and ran through some of his latest hits. Jeremih used his popular single “Planez” to transition into an appearance from Dipset boss Jim Jones who had the crowd in antics over the “We Fly High (Remix).”

Diddy Facing New Lawsuit

 

Diddy is facing another lawsuit, one of the last cases brought under New York's Adult Survivors Act, according to Rolling Stone. Filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday, the lawsuit accuses Diddy of sexually assaulting a woman, a former student at Syracuse University, in 1991 by drugging her during a date and filming the alleged incident.

Murdoch is buying the top four floors of new Manhattan luxury condo One Madison for $57.25 million. The 60-story glass tower on E. 23rd St. offers amazing New York city views, including clear views of the new World Trade Center. Murdoch’s new “quadruplex” penthouse includes more than 10,000 square feet, features five bedrooms, 5½ bathrooms, a spiral staircase and wide-open living areas, all wrapped by floor-to-ceiling glass. The condo also has an internal private elevator.

Mr. Murdoch recently became a bachelor after he and his former wife, Wendi Deng, divorced last November, ending 14 years of marriage. As part of the divorce settlement, he signed over to Ms. Deng a triplex penthouse at 834 Fifth Avenue, which he bought for $44 million in 2005. The couple’s two young daughters, Grace and Chloe, will live with their mother.

Mr. Murdoch’s new apartment will be on the 57th through 60th floors of One Madison, a building near Madison Square Park. The owner of the building, Related Companies, said in a statement announcing the sale — without naming Mr. Murdoch as the buyer — that the apartment encompassed more than 10,000 square feet.

The residence “offers a soaring double-height great room with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and a wraparound terrace, with uninterrupted cinematic views of Manhattan, river to river and from the World Trade Center to the uptown tip of Madison Avenue.
