JAY-Z’s latest investment sees him pour some cash into his close friend and CEO Michael Rubin’s Fanatics company. Fanatics received a private $18 billion valuation, which is triple compared to its valuation from 2020.

Jay-Z’s auction of a rare bottle of his D’usse Cognac raked in mid-five figures during an auction with Sotheby’s.

The Roc Nation honcho sold off a luxury D’usse 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition bottle for $52,500 to raise funds to support professional advancement and entrepreneurship workshops for students.

The decades-old cognac has a 24-karat gold foil around the neck, a diamond decanter design encased in a leather box. This particular bottle of D’usse was even rarer because it was engraved with Jay-Z’s signature.

Founded by the rapper in 2008, the company currently boasts the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Mariah Carey, Nick Jonas and Haim on its roster. As Variety reports, Aguilera has now been added to the label’s management division – though an official announcement is yet to be made.

Sources close to Roc Nation claim that the deal went through weeks ago, and the pop star is now listed on the company’s website. There’s currently no word on potential new material from the singer. It comes after Aguilera announced she’d parted ways with her manager of 20 years, Irving Azoff, last week. It’s unknown whether her team-up with Roc Nation Management came prior to or after their decision to split.

Hov’s Marcy Venture Partners has officially backed NFT marketplace Bitski. Bitski revealed that the JAY-Z’s company was amongst the backers who invested $19 million USD into the San Francisco-based startup, including Roc nation co-founder Jay Brown, Endeavor CEO Ari Amanuel, Troy Carter and 3LAU. 

Bitski’s new investors also include other YouTuber MrBeast, tennis legend Serena Williams and many other senior executives across TikTok, Twitter and Snapchat. The news arrives shortly after Bitski’s recent partnership with adidas to launch No. 1 NFL draft pick Trevor Lawrence’s NFT collection.

Brodie Wagenen Named Chief Operating Officer of Roc Nation Sports

 

Former Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen is joining Jay-Z's  Sports as the company's chief operating officer, Van Wagenen announced.

Van Wagenen worked with Roc Nation when he was the co-head of Creative Arts Agency's baseball division. Van Wagenen took the Mets job in October 2018 and left the agency.

"We believed in the vision Jay and [Juan Perez] had back in 2013," Van Wagenen told ESPN's Jeff Passan. "We've stayed in constant contact with them. It was a natural homecoming."

Square adds Jay-Z on Board of Directors

 

Square Inc. disclosed late Friday that it has officially added Shawn Carter as a board member of the credit-card payments processing company after closing a deal with the music-streaming service Tidal.

Jay-Z is co-founder and majority owner of entertainment company Roc Nation LLC, from which Square will sublease nearly 16,000 square feet of office space in New York City for $1.5 million a year, with an option to extend the sublease for two additional six-month terms, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Roc Nation and Square also reached a marketing agreement between Square and Carter that will lead to a $200,000 commission for Roc Nation.
