Tracy Morgan Files Lawsuit Against Wal-Mart

Actor +Tracy Morgan has rumored to be sewing the giant +Wal Mart after being released from rehab. The comedian heads home just one month after being critically injured in a car crash. A publicist for the former "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" star says Morgan will continue his treatment at home and asks for privacy during his recovery.

"Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program," publicist Lewis Kay said on Saturday. "He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point. He would also appreciate some privacy during this crucial point in his recovery."

The accident occurred on June 7 as Morgan was returning from a comedy show in Delaware. Authorities say truck driver Kevin Roper failed to slow for traffic ahead, causing him to swerve at the last minute to avoid the crash and hit the limo bus carrying Morgan and several other passengers.

As a result, Morgan has filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart for their negligence in the fatal crash. The star claims the retail giant should have known Roper had been awake for more than 24 hours. He also believes the driver's 700-mile commute from his home in Georgia to work in Delaware was "unreasonable" and alleges he fell asleep at the wheel.

"As a result of Wal-Mart’s gross, reckless, willful, wanton, and intentional conduct, it should be appropriately punished with the imposition of punitive damages," states the complaint. Comedian Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey and Krista Millea, all passengers with Morgan, have also been named as plaintiffs.

Kay confirmed Morgan's legal proceedings while speaking with media on Saturday. Wal-Mart also responded to the lawsuit, stating: "We are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved. As we've said, we're cooperating fully in the ongoing investigation."

Rick Ross Buys Evander Holyfield’s Mansion

Rapper +Rick Ross has purchased professional boxer +Evander Holyfield mansion. Rick Ross just moved into the biggest single-family home in Georgia, a 109-room mansion with a dining room that sits 100 guests, and a pool that holds 350,000 gallons of water. From Meek Mill‘s recent Instagram, it looks like the Miami rapper is right at home in Atlanta.

Rick Ross purchased the mansion a year after heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield lost it to foreclosure—he owed the bank a whopping $14 million. This summer the Atlanta residence, which is actually located in Fayetteville County, Ga., went back on the market for $8.2 million, but it hasn’t been revealed how much Rick Ross dropped on the mansion. At auction, the starting bid was $2.5 million.

With 235 acres to be mowed, along with a movie theater and bowling alley, it will cost the new homeowner $17,000 in electricity bills and another $1 million a year just to maintain the property. Congrads +RICK ROSS

Rocko Arrested

Atlanta rapper Rocko and another man were jailed Friday in Monroe County after the two were reportedly seen racing up Interstate 75 in a Rolls Royce and a BMW. Rocko, whose name is Rodney Ramone Hill Jr., was at the wheel of a late-model Rolls Royce Phantom when a Monroe deputy caught up with him near Forsyth about 1:30 p.m., said sheriff’s Lt. Brad Freeman.

Hill, 36, was not cited for speeding because the cars had slowed considerably when deputies spotted them, Freeman said. But Hill, also known as Rocko Da Don, was arrested on a pair of charges that included driving with a suspended license. The driver of a BMW that had been heading north with Hill kept going at speeds in excess of 150 mph, Freeman said.

Deputies found the BMW backed in at a gas station at the Johnsonville Road exit, a few miles north of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Its driver, Jason Philbert Wright, 26, of Decatur, faces felony fleeing-and-eluding charges and a string of traffic violations, a jail official said.

Hill, who according to his Wikipedia page has children with R&B singer Monica, scored a 2013 hit with the song “U.O.E.N.O.” His 2008 hip-hop album “Self Made” was also popular. Rolls Royces like the one he was said to be driving Friday cost about $500,000. But the license plate on it had expired and Hill was cited.

“You’d think a man with a Rolls Royce could afford a tag. But apparently not,” Freeman said. When Wright, the guy in the Beemer, didn’t stop, the deputy who had pulled over Hill gave chase, Freeman said. Hill later showed up at the Johnsonville Road exit — apparently to check on Wright, who was in custody, Freeman said.

By then, deputies had learned that Hill’s license was suspended and that his tag had expired, and they arrested him, Freeman said. Freeman said Wright was “part of (Hill’s) entourage, for lack of a better term.”

Homeowners Are Still Underwater

Across the nation, there are approximately 9.8 million homeowners who still owe more than their homes are currently worth. Zillow also finds that the effective negative equity rate — homeowners with less than 20 percent home equity — is at 37.6 percent. Meanwhile, roughly one in seven homeowners owe more than double what their home is worth.

Millions of Americans are no longer underwater on their mortgages, but millions of homeowners are still struggling in the wake of the housing bubble. With the help of low inventory levels and unprecedented actions by the Federal Reserve, higher home prices have been a life preserver to the real estate market.

A homeowner technically reaches positive equity when the market value of the house exceeds the outstanding loan balance by any amount, but the associated costs of listing a house and moving prevents many Americans from selling. Zillow notes that listing a home for sale and buying a new one typically requires equity of 20 percent or more to comfortably meet related expenses.

In the fourth quarter of 2013, the national negative equity rate declined to 19.4 percent of all homeowners with a mortgage, according to Zillow’s latest Negative Equity Report. The reduction comes after the previous quarter witnessed the fastest decline on record. In comparison, 27.5 percent of homeowners with a mortgage were underwater one year earlier. The peak was made in the first quarter of 2012, at 31.4 percent.

The national negative equity rate has now declined for six consecutive years. In fact, this is the first time in years that the rate dipped below 20 percent. Almost 3.9 million homeowners were freed from negative equity during the final three months of 2013. While this is a significant improvement, many people are still underwater, especially in certain states. Nevada leads the nation with 34 percent of borrowers owing more than their homes are worth, followed by Georgia at 32 percent.

Two Plead Guilty To Scam In Roc Nation, Wu-Tang Clan Case

Two men have pleaded guilty to a scheme in which they pretended to be affiliated with the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan and Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation in order to scam hotels and luxury limousine companies out of thousands of dollars worth of goods and services, the Department of Justice said this week.

According to the DoJ, Aaron Barnes-Burpo and Walker Washington both pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud, a charge that could land both up to two decades in prison.

According to an Associated Press report from when the trial first began in February, Barnes-Burpo and Washington took advantage of hotels to the tune of more than $100,000, including some of the most luxurious hotels in the southern U.S.

Family Loses Everything

A Georgia family lost nearly all of its possessions when the Craigslist movers it hired disappeared with a loaded truck. An unidentified woman victimized by the theft in Douglas County said that the belongings were worth $75,000.

“Ten years of memories, irreplaceable items, things that my husband and I worked hard for and earned. It’s just gone.” The truck, believed to be stolen, had nothing inside when it was found by police in Atlanta, though the family has mysteriously recovered some of its most important documents.

Birth certificates, death certificates and other essential papers were found when one box was discovered dumped two days later, though an iPad that had been inside was missing. A St. Louis couple across the country fell victim to a similar scheme late last year, paying $1,100 to a company they found on Craigslist and then waiting in vain for their items to show up in North Carolina.
