Disney+ is the home for your favorite movies and TV shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

I started streaming Disney Plus because of my newborn daughter. It carries all her favorite shows such as Mickey Mouse and Bluey. Most of all, it had all my favorites from Marvel such as Avengers and Thor.

Disney+ gives you endless access to all the Marvel movies and TV. Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus are bundled together in a $13.99 per month package, which saves you $5.83 per month. The devices it supports are: Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, PS4, Xbox One, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android and Chromebooks.

Walt Disney And 21st Century Fox Merges Together

Shareholders from Fox and Disney met up separately to vote on the merger involving both companies. Reports noted that 99% percent of the Disney shareholders voted to approve the acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

According to Variety, only one voter protested Disney purchasing Fox, saying the company was “overpaying for Fox.” In a blockbuster deal, Walt Disney Co. has finalized their plans to purchase a huge chunk of 21st Century Fox for a whopping $52.4 Billion deal.

The company will be purchasing the Murdoch family’s longtime corporation in stock as well as its film and television divisions and its international and cable networks. Their objective is to, reportedly, “meet competition from the technology companies in the entertainment business”, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Before the buyout is complete, 21st Century Fox intends to divide Fox Broadcasting Network, Fox Business Network, and its sports divisions FS1, FS2, and Big Ten Network into a brand-new media company that will be sold to various shareholders. The news became a shock to the entertainment industry as many did not expect that Rupert Murdoch or his sons would ever sell off such a huge amount of their decades old company.

The deal will reportedly be good news to Marvel fans as the deal will give Disney Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, and Fox 2000 which are the longtime homes of the rights to X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four. The new acquisitions are also not limited Twentieth Century Fox Television, FX Productions, and Fox 21. This means that Disney will also have television shows such as The Simpsons and Modern Family.

Disney Acquire Fox in $71.3 Billion Deal

It seems as if Disney will be challenging Netflix with gaining ground in the streaming world. In a deal that will have a seismic effect on entertainment and television, Disney has finally completed negotiations to acquire Fox.

The deal is worth a reported $71.3 billion with assets such as Fox film and TV studios, National Geographic, FX Networks, a number of international channels, and a third of Hulu. In addition, Disney also acquired the rights to such film franchises such as  X-Men, Deadpool, The Fantastic Four, and Avatar.

Fox will function as a standalone corporation which will continue to oversee the broadcasting channel as well as Fox News and Fox Sports. It is being reported that 4,000 layoffs could be imminent as the companies finalize the consolidation.

Marvel Developing TV Shows

I know this is going to make many Marvel fans happy! Disney is going to lean on the Marvel Cinematic Universe to give its upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service a superhero-sized jolt when it launches next year.

As it ramps up competition against Netflix, Disney is planning on making its upcoming ad-free service the only place to stream its movies as well as those from its subsidiaries Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm.

Disney is once again taking big steps in the movement toward increased diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry: The Disney Channel recently introduced its first-ever transgender character in Raven’s Home, the reboot of That’s So Raven.

Apple has quietly continued to improve upon the AirPods Pro with firmware updates that have tweaked their noise cancellation and sound quality. The company rarely details or comments on the changes that come in each release of AirPods firmware; there are no update notes that spell out what’s new.

But last month, the AirPods Pro picked up a pair of new features that Apple did announce: spatial audio and automatic switching. Automatic switching is the simpler one, and it’ll probably make a bigger difference to your day-to-day use of the AirPods Pro.

Without you having to do anything, the AirPods will automatically switch between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac whenever you start using one of them. This handoff is nearly instantaneous; you can be listening to music on your phone, pause it, pick up your iPad and start playing a video, and the AirPods will be ready for that audio.

Disneyland Catches Fire In Florida

Disneyland had a fire break out near it at Disneyland late on Saturday evening. Firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the blaze. Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, opened on July 17, 1955.

Miley Cyrus Disses Hip-Hop

Miley Cyrus took to social media early Saturday [May 6] in hopes of giving clarity to the remarks she made concerning her relationship with hip hop, that had some fans of the genre up in arms. 

The Disney star-turned-raunchy performer caused a stir when Billboard published an interview they had with her, in which she claims to have been turned off by what she characterized as the "Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my c**k" nature of the music she once co-opted as an expression of freedom from her teeny bopper image.

In the caption of an Instagram post fashioning an image of her in a long white dress that is far less revealing than anything she's become known for wearing, Miley wrote: "I have always and will continue to love and celebrate hip hop as I've collaborated with some of the very best! At this point in my life I am expanding personally/musically and gravitating more towards uplifting, conscious rap!" 

Her comments in Billboard were delivered in the context of her stating her appreciation for Kendrick Lamar's new music, which her critics saw past as they accused her of behaving in the typical manner of an artist who conveniently appropriates a cultural style, then abandons it when it is no longer beneficial.

The tone of Miley's message, and the photo itself, taken in a field that might be conveyed to reflect the purity of nature, does appear to signify her taking a new direction as an artist. But it also gives off more the impression that she is simply interested in explaining where she is coming from, and not so much responding to a need to apologize or answer to the backlash. Whether fans will interpret her post as a righteous one, or rather, a self-righteous one remains to be seen. "As I get older I understand the effect music has on the world & Seeing where we are today I feel the younger generation needs to hear positive powerful lyrics!" she says.
