LeBron James has joined Fenway Sports Group as a partner, making him a part-owner of the Boston Red Sox, according to the Boston Globe. Maverick Carter, LeBron's longtime friend and business partner, also joined LeBron in the deal. Additionally, FSG is also taking a $750 million investment from RedBird Capital Partners.

LeBron already had a stake in the English soccer team Liverpool Football Club, whose majority owner is Fenway Sports Group. FSG is led by billionaire John Henry, and also includes the NESN cable channel, a marketing arm, a real estate firm, and Roush Fenway Racing. Henry, who is also the owner of the Boston Globe, will retain control of FSG with Tom Werner as chairman and Michael Gordon as president.

Brodie Wagenen Named Chief Operating Officer of Roc Nation Sports

 

Former Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen is joining Jay-Z's  Sports as the company's chief operating officer, Van Wagenen announced.

Van Wagenen worked with Roc Nation when he was the co-head of Creative Arts Agency's baseball division. Van Wagenen took the Mets job in October 2018 and left the agency.

"We believed in the vision Jay and [Juan Perez] had back in 2013," Van Wagenen told ESPN's Jeff Passan. "We've stayed in constant contact with them. It was a natural homecoming."

Curry passes Miller in the all-time scoring records early on in his 715th game against the Utah Jazz. In just his 12th year in the NBA, Curry now records 2,561 threes and counting. Holding first place is legendary shooter Ray Allen with 2,973 career threes, which is a little over 400 three-pointers more than Curry’s current record. With a cushion of half a thousand beyond the arc shots, Allen’s title as NBA’s all-time three-point shooter should remain safe during the 2021 season. However, at the pace of Curry’s rise to the all-time leaderboard, Curry will likely surpass Allen in the second half of the 2021-2022 season.

The University of Washington has suspended its star guard on the basketball team due to two sexual assault allegations against him. With his last name being Carter, he won’t be the only one facing backlash for these accusations.

21-year-old Nahziah Carter, who is the nephew of Hip Hop/pop culture icon Jay-Z, violated UW’s school policy on sexual assault and his suspension has been upheld following his appeal. Carter was suspended indefinitely in October for the first accusation and received a suspension for the winter and spring quarters after the second investigation concluded.

Two women accuse Carter of forcing them to perform oral sex on him and one of his accusers even posted the findings of the investigation once it was public information.
