Denzel Washington Talks Trump And Race Relations

Denzel Washington speaks before a screening of his new film "Fences" in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday evening. The fake news story mentioned in the video was widely shared on social media. It claimed that Mr. Washington endorsed Donald Trump for president.

Denzel Washington says there's too much cynicism in the world — particularly in politics. Denzel Washington on Race Relations: 'You Can't Legislate Love'. Denzel Washington says it is time for the mainstream media to stop selling fake stories.

Diddy Has Become Hip Hop's First Billionaire

"A young boy from Harlem, I couldn't even be a waiter. They didn't want me to be a waiter, so you know what I did? I became a billionaire."

Diddy took to the internet to announce that he has become Hip-Hop's first billionaire. Diddy has an impressive body of work in terms of his companies, with Ciroc Vodka, Bad Boy Records (now partnered with Epic Records), Revolt TV, Sean John, and AQUAhydrate all doing well. Puffy also makes sure he gives back, recently opening a charter school in Harlem. Dr. Dre comes in second with a cool 700 million and HOV in third with about 610 million. Watch the video here! Any thoughts?

Diddy recently topped Forbes' list for top earners in hip hop (something he's getting used to doing by this point), and thus sat down with the people at Forbes to discuss his business model, how much he has in the bank, and his potential to become rap's first billionaire.

When asked if he felt he would become the first rapper to hit the 9 figure mark, Puff said he couldn't be sure, but stressed that he would remain humble no matter the outcome. "I can't deny how humbling... how proud I am to be from Harlem, New York, to be from the inner-city and be on the Forbes list," he said. "But it doesn't define me-- whether I become a billionaire, or whatever my status is."

He also made sure to clear the air that the numbers Forbes reports him to have are not reflective of what he has in the bank, and more likely have to do with his assets. "First of all I do want to say to the Forbes cameras, I'm going to tell you that I don't have that money in the bank." he said, half-jokingly. "I want to make sure y’all are clear on that. I have no problem with saying that. If that pushes me down on the list, I’m okay with that.”

Man Screams In Court Over Mistreatment

A man linked to the murder and dismembering of a woman nine years his junior in 2005 was formally charged with the heinous crime on Wednesday, February 22. But authorities had a difficult time handling him throughout much of the afternoon, as he is reported having resisted from the moment he was pulled into the courtroom; so much so that they were unable to fingerprint him.

In a video that leaked from Kwauhuru Govan's court proceeding, he insists that he wants to stand, as those in the pews behind him had been standing, but his request is denied by the judge and a crowd of court officers put their weight on him to ensure that he successfully obeyed the Judge's demand that he remain seated.

"I would like to stand. I would like to stand in court. I have a right to stand in court," Govan repeatedly insisted, as over a half dozen law enforcement officials wrestled to keep him still. "I want to stand up so the American people can see my clothes. Can see how they've been treating me."

According to court reports, Govan, 38, came into the courtroom hollering that he had been framed. But forensics says that his DNA was found on Rashawn Brazell's belongings. Last year Govan was put away when his DNA turned up on another young woman, 17-year-old Sharabia Thomas only one year earlier. Brazell reportedly lived across the street from Govan. Investigators say they are now looking into exploring the possibility that they may have nailed a serial killer, whose involvement in other murders has yet been unearthed.

Man Jumps Off Bridge

An undocumented immigrant who was deported back to his native Mexico for what was a third time on Tuesday, February 21, committed suicide within an hour of his release on the other side of the U.S./Mexico border.

Guadalupe Olivas Valencia, 45, was declared deceased at a local hospital, but is said to have died of a heart attack triggered by a concussion he suffered from his leap off of a bridge. According to a source close to Valencia, he had been experiencing bouts of anxiety from feeling depressed over his departure. Aside from being left at the El Chaparral border crossing between San Diego and Tijuana, which is an area he was unfamiliar with, he was said to dread the idea of returning to his hometown of Sinaloa, where for years El Chapo oversaw a reign of terror atop the narcotics trade.

Tensions have been on high in the Mexican migrant community, ever since President Trump took office with a vow to rid the nation of immigrants living in the States illegally. But their fears were all the more exasperated earlier this week, when the passing of stricter Department of Homeland Security guidelines are being instituted to allow for authorities to have more leeway in identifying and expelling immigrants.

Magic Johnson New President Of Basketball Operations

The Los Angeles Lakers have shaken up their front office, promoting team legend Magic Johnson to president of basketball operations and firing general manager Mitch Kupchak and vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss.

“Today I took a series of actions I believe will return the Lakers to the heights Dr. Jerry Buss demanded and our fans rightly expect,” team governor Jeanie Buss said in a statement. “Effective immediately, Earvin Johnson will be in charge of all basketball operations and will report directly to me. Our search for a new General Manager to work with Earvin and Coach Luke Walton is well underway and we hope to announce a new General Manager in short order. Together, Earvin, Luke and our new General Manager will establish the foundation for the next generation of Los Angeles Lakers greatness.”

Jeanie Buss is Jim Buss’ sister, and both took on greater responsibility after the death of their father in February 2013.

Johnson was drafted by the Lakers in 1979 and won five titles with the team. He was hired as an adviser to the team in February. Johnson has held titles with the Lakers in the past, including honorary vice president, which he resigned from in June. He has also previously owned shares in the team, which he sold to Dr. Patrick Soon Shiong in 2011.

“It’s a dream come true to return to the Lakers as President of Basketball Operations working closely with Jeanie Buss and the Buss family,” Johnson said in the statement. “Since 1979, I’ve been a part of the Laker Nation and I’m passionate about this organization. I will do everything I can to build a winning culture on and off the court. We have a great coach in Luke Walton and good young players. We will work tirelessly to return our Los Angeles Lakers to NBA champions.”
