Will Jack Dorsey Purchase Tidal?

Since purchasing Tidal for $56 million back in 2015, Jay-Z has made the streaming service a big contender in the music industry. But it could be that Jay-Z is considering handing-off a majority stake in the company. The rapper has reportedly been in talks to sell the site to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and his Square Inc. payment company.

As reported by Bloomberg, Square Inc. is looking to “diversify” their assets with the purchase of Tidal. The streaming service hasn’t publicly released their year-end figures since reporting they had 3 million paying customers back in 2016, but Jay-Z’s move to put his music back on Spotify has led some to question the longevity of the platform.

Colorado Recreational Marijuana Legalized

Its time to blaze up in Colorado. Hundreds of marijuana users in Colorado are rejoicing as it has become legal to sell weed for recreational purposes. That’s right no medical marijuana card needed in that state.

Hundreds of mary jane smokers stood in line before dawn as the state entered history. More than 200 customers stood in the snow before the doors of 3D Cannabis Centre, Denver opened at 8am and the very first sale was made. Bongs were sparked and partygoers took turns taking a pull as Colorado’s Prohibition on Marijuana officially came to an end at midnight.

Florida Legalizes Smoking Medical Marijuana

The legalization of recreational marijuana in Florida will likely be on the ballot in upcoming elections, where it's been assumed that it will likely pass over the next few years. It should be noted that ten US states and the District of Columbia already allow recreational sales of marijuana, while 34 states have authorized medical marijuana use.

The new law allows patients to receive 2.5 ounces of whole flower cannabis every 35 days, while patients under the age of 18 can smoke medical marijuana if they have a terminal condition and get a second opinion from a pediatrician.

"Over 70 percent of Florida voters approved medical marijuana in 2016," DeSantis said in a statement. "I thank my colleagues in the Legislature for working with me to ensure the will of the voters is upheld. Now that we have honored our duty to find a legislative solution, I have honored my commitment and filed a joint motion to dismiss the state's appeal and to vacate the lower court decision which had held the prior law to be unconstitutional."

World’s First Ecstasy Shop

Just when you thought that the liberal clubbing capital of Amsterdam couldn’t get anymore lenient or progressive in its drug policy, the Dutch Liberal Democrats youth wing have announced that for one day they will be opening the world’s first MDMA shop in order to highlight the need for harm reduction over prohibition.

With the shop set to open its doors at 11am Monday morning at 10 Rosmarijnsteeg in Amsterdam’s city center, the progressive political group’s intention is to display “why regulation is better than leaving the distribution to illegal street dealers”, and to keep within the confines of the current law they will be handing out placebos*.

They explained on their site MDMJA.nl: ”We can prevent minors from buying, make sure there is no overdose in pills and educate people on ways to minimize the risks involved with ecstasy-usage.”

Open only for a single day, the shop aims to bring the conversation of MDMA decriminalisation to the Dutch parliament, in the hope that they can educate people at a grassroots level of the dangers of drug use. The group require 40,000 signatures on their site MDMJA in order to bring the issue up for debate.

Last year it was reported that three people died as a result of MDMA consumption at ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event), and the country, which is widely known for its decriminalisation of cannabis, has often lead the way in conversations about drug harm reduction and progressive addiction programs.

How Jay-Z created a hip-hop path to luxury

This past Monday, rapper Jay-Z unveiled a deal with LVMH to expand his Armand de Brignac champagne globally. The next day, Oatly, the Swedish vegan-milk group in which he has invested, took its first step towards a $10bn initial public offering.

Jay-Z has further tasks to occupy him, apart from his own music. He still heads Roc Nation, a music and sports talent agency that includes Rihanna among its clients. He is also “chief visionary officer” of a special-purpose company backed by Roc Nation that acquired two Californian cannabis groups in November. And so on.

This year is the 25th anniversary of Jay-Z’s first album Reasonable Doubt, released on his own Roc-A-Fella Records label. Some have lasted and some not, but Jay-Z was ahead of his time in business in a way that is only now clear. “Put me anywhere on God’s green Earth, I triple my worth,” he once rapped. The deal with LVMH, under which the world’s leading luxury group has taken 50 per cent of Armand de Brignac — the “Ace of Spades” champagne praised in his lyrics — is proof of that.

Recreational Marijuana Goes On Sale Today

Some of the more than 250 dispensaries that already offer medical marijuana in Oregon opened their doors soon after midnight — just moments after it became legal to sell to anyone who is at least 21. At Portland’s Shango Premium Cannabis, co-founder Shane McKee said the first sale to an excited customer came about a minute after midnight, with many others waiting.

Store owners say they’re hopeful they can avoid the shortages and price spikes that followed the start of legal sales last year in Washington and Colorado, the only other states where the drug can now be sold for recreational use. Alaska could begin retail sales next year.

McKee said his store offered its first 25 customer a 35-40 percent discount. The store was also handing out soda, coffee, juice and other refreshments. One store was offering a goody bag with T-shirts, but no free marijuana. Another will have a live band and 10 percent discounts. The marijuana review site Leafly will set up with food trucks at a handful of stores, giving away free meals to anyone who promotes the service on social media.

Possible First-Ever Marijuana Overdose

Recently, we did a article on marijuana causing health problems and now according to the New Orleans Advocate, Coroner Christy Montegut claims that he's recorded the first-ever case of a marijuana overdose.

A police report noted the woman allegedly visited the emergency room with a chest infection three weeks before she died, with Montegut adding that nothing in the toxicology report pointed to other causes of death. He stated, "It looked like it was all THC because her autopsy showed no physical disease or afflictions that were the cause of death. There was nothing else identified in the toxicology—no other drugs, no alcohol. There was nothing else."

Former senior policy adviser at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, Keith Humphreys, questioned the report, saying there would be more recorded marijuana overdoses if humans were able to consume that level of THC.

Marijuana has been used for years by smokers from all over the globe, but now THC is used in various new ways than before. Not only that, the Government is also experimenting with marijuana in ways we have never seen.

Who is to say what the future of Marijuana holds for household that use cannabis as a supplement. While the fight to legalize marijuana is still on going, there is another fight behind closed doors to keep it from becoming legal.
