The Fight For R. Kelly's $1.5 Million Dollar Royalty Account

R. Kelly has more than $1.5 million in a royalties account with Sony, the singer’s former record label. The question now: Who gets that money?

R. Kelly’s former Near West Side landlord secured a $3.5 million judgment earlier this year against the jailed singer to cover past-due rent. A woman sued the singer last year, alleging sexual abuse, and was awarded $4 million. That woman, who the Chicago Sun-Times is not naming, is one of Kelly’s four alleged victims in his pending criminal case in Cook County.

After the awards were issued in each suit, attorneys for both plaintiffs contacted Sony with a “citation to discover assets,” which revealed Kelly had $1,544,333 in a now-frozen royalties account.

Gansta Marcus Talks The Future Of Rap Music

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Music has changed inn many way. When I was growing up, we had +Rap City and then went to +106 and Park. Now +BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION is doing reality t.v.

I don't know what the future holds for the rap game. Rappers in the gay community is having there time right now, but if the trend of change continues, then this will also come to pass. Not only have we had rap, but swanger music from Texas, snap and dance types from Atlanta, and swing music from the Midwest.

We don't know what the future holds for the music industry or how it will change. I feel the next thing coming is Swagger. It's something that's always been hot and I believe will remain.

One Fame - Broken

Melodic Soul meets Spoken Word on new single from Midwest legend One Fame

CHICAGO, IL – Like many young people who grew up in the Chicago public housing authority on the South Side of the city – an area known as State Way Gardens – life was rough for Dalvin Williams. But living in the rough streets of Chicago and going through some difficult situations has motivated him to tell his story and put it all in his music.

Out of that process has come a sound that is unique – a melodic Soul vibe mixed with a little bit of Trap and hints of R&B and other genres. His goal is to become one of the greatest artists of all time and to bring his city together through music. It’s the reason why he adopted the stage name One Fame. His latest attempt at that musical healing comes in the form of his new single, “Broken.”

Real Deal Wit It - No Cap

Midwest artist Real Deal Wit It shares inspiring musical journey with ever-widening global fanbase

AKRON, OH – To understand the music and talent of Midwest artist Real Deal Wit It, you have to understand where he comes from. Living in the streets of Akron, Ohio is already a rough starting place, but add to that a crack-addicted mother and an absent father and it’s easy to see how this young man might be led to a life of drugs and violence. By the age of 14 he was in-and-out of juvenile prison while dodging life-or-death situations on the streets. But through it all, music was his escape. Artists such as Tupac and Tribe Called Quest became sources of refuge for him, and ultimately became the inspiration behind his own creative outlet of songwriting and recording.

Top 5 Lima, Ohio Artist Who Made The Biggest Impact In Our Hip-hop Community

These Lima, Ohio artist has stepped up to the plate and will leave there musical legacy over the city's rap culture. The Buckeye state has no shortage of celebrities, but these Top Five artist sure stood out among the rest.

Even though Eastside Po was not mentioned in the article, he is next up on the rising artist list.

Were not saying that these are the best artist from Lima, Ohio, but I am noting that these are the artist who legacy will continue on through time.

In contrast with its East Coast, West Coast and Southern counterparts, Midwest hip hop has very few constants in style or production. Midwest hip hop's first dose of national popularity came in the mid-90s with the extremely fast-paced rappers known as Bone Thugs-n-Harmony (Cleveland), Twista (Chicago), Tech N9ne (Kansas City), Atmosphere (Minneapolis), and Eminem (Detroit).

But Ohio, in general, has a rich musical history that makes it one of the most important states when it comes to the evolution of sound in various genres. Everything from shock rock and industrial metal to funk and R&B developed in the Lima, Ohio area.

Two Women Sue Sperm Bank

An Ohio woman and her partner have sued a Chicago-area sperm bank after she became pregnant with sperm donated by a black man instead of a white man as she’d intended. Jennifer Cramblett was five months pregnant and happy with her life in April 2012. She and her partner had married months earlier in New York, and within days of their nuptials she had become pregnant with donor sperm at a fertility clinic in Canton.

Cramblett, 36, and her partner, Amanda Zinkon, 29, were so elated that they called Midwest Sperm Bank LLC outside Chicago to reserve sperm from the same donor in the hope that Zinkon would someday also have a child. But that’s when Cramblett received some disturbing news, says a lawsuit filed Monday against Midwest Sperm Bank in Cook County, Illinois. She learned from an employee at the sperm bank that she had been inseminated with sperm from No. 330, a black donor, and not No. 380, a white donor she and Zinkon, who are white, had chosen.

Cramblett said she and Zinkon love their 2-year-old daughter, Payton, very much and wouldn’t change anything about her. But they are concerned about raising her in the predominantly white community where they live. The lawsuit said they had moved from Akron to Uniontown for better schools and to be closer to Cramblett’s family. She said that as a lesbian she has felt the sting of prejudice but doesn’t know what it’s like to be mistreated because of her skin color.

The lawsuit says Cramblett also is worried about how Payton will be treated in her “all-white, and often unconsciously insensitive family.” Therapists have recommended that Cramblett, Zinkon and Payton move to a more a racially diverse community with good schools, the lawsuit said. Cramblett said she decided to sue to prevent the sperm bank from making the same mistake again. The lawsuit says the sperm bank has no electronic record-keeping and no quality controls that would have prevented it from sending the wrong sperm to fertility clinics.

BRB Loopy (@1officialloopy) - "Blessings"

Recently Midwest rapper and prominent East St. Louis rapper BRB Loopy delivered his new visual "Blessing" to fans. Fresh out of the hospital and in recovery from a vicious shooting that almost took him from his family and loved ones, BRB Loopy returns with strength and delivers an emotional visual after taking five shots. "I just want the fans, the older fans, the newer ones just coming in, I appreciate you all. Going through what I went through over the past few months, I know people and fans have gone through what I've gone through and hopefully if fans go through this they can relate. I just hope they can stick with me because we on the way for sure," BRB Loopy explained. As of now this song will be a single, but according to management BRB Loopy will just continue to release singles through Create Music through the next few releases. "When I put the album together this will be on there for sure," BRB Loopy said. "Create is bringing their staff and they are known for their social media presence. They reached out to us and so we are going to release a few records through them and see how this goes." In the visual BRB Loopy can be seen with his kids embracing them and holding them closely, as his perspective on life has truly changed after being humbled by the nearly fatal shooting. "A lot has changed quickly, I got shot 5 times, I lost a kidney, still working on getting my right leg back together. After I got shot I got pulled out of my hospital bed by police and I'm still fighting a case with an ankle monitor, but the situation woke me up and the situation is a lesson learned for real for real and it's a blessing to be alive, which is how I came up with the song" BRB Loopy said. Refusing to give in to the perpetrators and quit rapping BRB Loopy embraced this challenge in his life by fighting for his life and coming home to his family. "The image that I wanted to get out is about family. I wanted to make sure people felt the song and then putting those images with the song, it shows people that this is real life, this is something that really went on. The hospital scene, my family interacting in the church scene, it made sure that I was bringing everything to life. I had my family members come out so that it made it look like a full church and it really helped my image and the family images I wanted to put out," BRB Loopy said. With Summer on the brink of breaking through BRB Loopy has his sights on establishing some stability and focus to continue to crank out records. "I got court this Summer and then I got my birthday and I'm hoping to get this ankle monitor removed so that I can do shows, radio and appearances that I want to make. Then I will probably be moving to Florida or Atlanta and just putting everything in my music."
