Mariah Carey’s brother slams new memoir

The launch of Mariah Carey’s forthcoming Christmas album has been overshadowed by a family feud that is apparently about to become a legal headache for the singer.

The 50-year-old released her second memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, back in September but the book didn’t sit well with one member of the Carey clan.

Mariah’s brother Morgan has strenuously denied some of the claims she made in the book and said that the singer in his opinion is on the verge of a ‘breakdown.

In the book, Mariah Carey claimed that her brother had accepted money to kill someone but that he never actually went through with the killing.

Mariah Carey has unearthed her long-lost and never-released video for “Underneath the Stars,” from her 1995 album Daydream, as the latest installment of the singer’s yearlong #MC30 celebration.

“The long lost video for ‘Underneath the Stars’ is finally here,” Carey tweeted. “It’s one of my favorite songs from the Daydream album and somehow never got released.”

The video was filmed during Carey’s Daydream trek around the release of the album, with plenty of audience and behind-the-scenes touring footage along with shots of Carey singing the track.

Christina Aguilera signs to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation

Founded by the rapper in 2008, the company currently boasts the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Mariah Carey, Nick Jonas and Haim on its roster. As Variety reports, Aguilera has now been added to the label’s management division – though an official announcement is yet to be made.

Sources close to Roc Nation claim that the deal went through weeks ago, and the pop star is now listed on the company’s website. There’s currently no word on potential new material from the singer. It comes after Aguilera announced she’d parted ways with her manager of 20 years, Irving Azoff, last week. It’s unknown whether her team-up with Roc Nation Management came prior to or after their decision to split.

Why Did Mariah Carey Really Mention J.Lo In Her New Book

The long-running feud between the two makes a cameo in the book, with Mariah Carey even poking fun at her now infamous "I don't know her" comment about Lopez as she detailed how ex husband Tommy Mottola allegedly tried to derail her career following their divorce.

While she writes that she understands "Glitter" wasn't exactly Oscar bait, she doesn't think it "deserved" the hate it got at the time -- and places at least some of the movie and the soundtrack's failure on Mottola.

She accused her ex "and his cronies" of physically pulling standees and other promotional items for the album from record stores, before claiming he "interfered with the 'Glitter' soundtrack."

While writing about the alleged "sabotage" to the soundtrack, Mariah Carey explained she had originally selected Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Firecracker" to sample on the lead single, "Loverboy."

Though she doesn't name Jennifer Lopez or her song "I'm Real" by name, that single also includes the sample and was released just ahead of "Glitter." None of this is new, it caused controversy at the time and has always been credited as the source of their feud.

Is Eminem Obsessed With Mariah Carey?

After allegedly being concerned that Mariah Carey was going to spill all the intimate details of their relationship in her upcoming memoir, the songstress revealed that she does not talk about the Real Slim Shady in her book.

Carey’s new memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” will drop on September 29th, and already, she’s hyping up its release. Much ado has been made about the fact that she might be addressing her brief fling with Eminem — to the point that the “Vision of Love” singer had the “Kim” rapper allegedly “worried” about what she might reveal.

#NewMusic Mariah Carey - Save The Day

"Save the Day" is the first release from Mimi's double-disc archival deep dive The Rarities (Oct. 2), which comes hot on the heels of her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey (out Sept. 29).

With heartfelt, affecting vocals delivering a timely message ("We're in this together"; "it's curious, the fear still holding us down"), a few classic Mariah high notes and a sick beat drop courtesy Jermaine Dupri that accompanies the entrance of Ms. Lauryn Hill's voice (sampled from the Fugees' Grammy-winning "Killing Me Softly With His Song"), "Save the Day" is pure MC goodness.

Why Is Scareface The Most Loved Movie In Hip-Hop Culture?

The movie Scareface has been a huge staple in the hip hop community. Even rapper Jay-Z has dedicated countless rap lyrics and interludes to the film. The release of Scarface coincided with the rise of hip hop music.

The hip-hop community has single-handedly made the movie a cult classic. Even though the story of Tony Montana, a poor Cuban immigrant who quickly ascends through the ranks to become a drug kingpin, is actually a remake of a 1932 film of the same name.

Mariah Carey's Rare Documentary

In 2003, Mariah was the most successful female recording artist of all time. Her marriage to Tommy Mottola in 1993 was a turning point in her life, which all began to fall apart when she started to struggle with her mental health.

At 18 Mariah Carey signed with Columbia Records, and her first album had four No. 1 singles, including "Vision of Love" and "I Don't Wanna Cry." Carey went on to generate several more albums (later with other studios) and top singles, becoming one of the most commercially successful artists of all time with 19 No. 1 hits.
