The track itself is set to appear on 2 Chainz's forthcoming album, Rap or Go to the League, an LP that will serve as a proper follow-up to Mr. Chainz's critically acclaimed 2018 effort Pretty Girls Like Trap Music. Speaking on the project in an Instagram post promoting the LP, Chainz offers up his explanation for the title.
"With the height of racial tensions across America I felt I should do my part in explaining some of the brain washing formulas used in my community," he wrote at the time. "[This] album not only touches on those who did succeed thru entertainment but those who didn't ! Welcome to Rap or Go TO THE LEAGUE ! My 5th solo studio album and project that shows continued growth , success , and motivation which is playing a role in the shift of the trap paradigm [.]"
Even though Eminem has released the most talked about album of the year, Em has owned up to most of his shots fired. Although he is denying dissing Drake on the Joyner Lucas-assisted track "Lucky You."
Eminem ruffled a lot of feathers with his Kamikaze album, where he doesn't hold any punches, dissing several rappers and media personalities.
Of course, anytime a ghostwriter is brought up in rap songs, the assumption is Drake is the target. According to Em, that is not the case here. In the fourth part of his interview with Sway Colloway, Eminem opened up about the speculation.
"Drake is going to always be in my good graces, because he did something for one of my daughters that I will never forget and he will always be in my graces for that," Em noted. "And I like Drake. What I'm telling you with these lines is, I don't know what's real and what's not, at this point. Because you hear shit about this rapper, that rapper, whatever. I'm telling you that I don't do it. Never have and never will. If I ever need a ghostwriter, I need to just fucking put the mic down."
Kim Kardashian's flirtation with political activism has Offset's support. In an interview today (Sept. 6) with TMZ, the Migos member praised the reality television star's advocacy for criminal justice reform.
"Hell yeah, I fuck with that shit. I've been through that shit," Offset said in response to a question about Kardashian's work. "To be able to have a second chance? That's one hunnid."
The rapper, currently touring on Drake's Aubrey and the Three Migos Tour, faces charges in Georgia for an improper lane change, possession of marijuana, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon after being pulled over in a traffic stop that his attorney has called "racially motivated."
TMZ's inquiry seems to be inspired by Kardashian's recent meetings with Donald Trump, whom she's now lobbied to free two people in prison, including Alice Marie Johnson, whose sentence for cocaine distribution and money laundering was commuted by the president in June after the 63-year-old woman spent 23 years in federal prison.
Kardashian reportedly returned to the White House yesterday (Sept. 5) to seek a pardon for Chris Young, whose 2010 arrest for marijuana and cocaine possession led to a life sentence in maximum-security prison. Young is one of around 3,800 individuals currently serving life sentences in the United States for drug offenses, according to the Buried Alive Project.
"He’s had to have a few surgeries and he’s been in a medical facility for a few years, and he goes back into the maximum-security prison where lifers have to go. And he’s had a perfect record," Kardashian told Jason Flom’s Wrongful Conviction podcast.
Beef between Drake and Kanye West seems to be brewing. In a new song snippet, which made its way around the internet on Tuesday (Sept. 4) and appears to be from a collaboration with French Montana, Drake can be heard throwing shade at Yeezy 305s.
Bad blood between Drake and Kanye has been building since Drizzy's beef with Pusha-T earlier this year. Many assumed that Kanye gave Pusha-T the ammo aimed at Drake—airing out that he had a secret child and the mother was a porn star—something the Chicago rapper denied during a recent interview.
Rumors circulated over the weekend that Drake had an affair with Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian, and a conspiracy theorist on Twitter wrote an impressive thread tying Drake's lyrics to the alleged affair.
So, you probably know the back story already. But, Kanye West got on the radio with Kendra G and apologizes for the MAGA hat as well as the statement "slavery was a choice." It was actually "sounds like a choice to me," but who cares. Anyway, everybody is talking about Kanye saying sorry and crying. BUT we are NOT talking about Kanye calling Drizzy "insensitive" and denying that he helped Pusha T reveal that Drake was "hiding a son."
"I don't play like that, I don't play in that place. It ain't no beef. Ain't nobody got no beef. Nobody going to jail. I'm not calling nobody to do nothing," he said. "I don't do that. I make beats, I'm here for a reason. The universe is on my side."
"We all got love for Drake. We understand he was upset about it, and I felt it was insensitive of him to stress me out in any way after TMZ while I'm in Wyoming, healing, pulling all pieces together."
And last, but not least, Kanye said that Drake would send him the "devil" emoji and harass him.
It may seem like nothing to the commoner but that ain't true. He uses three sets of "666" and a devil emoji in a post and the LOL emoji in the aftermath of the interview. Most people agree this was a response without saying something. Drake is selling out show after show on tour, so its crazy that he took time to do this.
Rising Manila-based R&B singer/songwriter Jess Connelly has released her anticipated new mixtape JCON.
The independent artist has quickly amassed a massive following in the Philippines as a leader of its underground R&B scene. The 13-track project includes the dreamy track “Call Me” produced by Dave Drake and Ayo, plus the previously released “Deep + Involved” and “Turn Me Down.”
Part Filipino and part Australian, the classically trained vocalist began singing as a child and later dove into songwriting at 13 years old. She was born in Australia and later migrated to the Philippines with her parents to start a new life. Growing frustrated with the music industry in the country that has traditionally favored industry-build pop stars, she set out to change it with her own art. Jess has since released music on her own that has sonically strayed from the norm and her one-of-a-kind artistry has quickly become sought after by the larger entertainment industry in Manila.
Soon after Birdman and Lil Wayne seemingly ended their beef, things might be reignited yet again.
In 2017, Aspire Music, co-founded by Lil Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant, sued Birdman over unpaid royalties from Drake's catalog. Birdman has responded with a countersuit that accuses Bryant and Lil Wayne of working with attorney Ronald Sweeney in an attempt to gain a larger share of Drake's profit.
Aspire claims they discovered Drake and are entitled to 1/3 share of profits from Drake's first six albums in addition to a share of copyrights. The remainder was to be split between Lil Wayne's Young Money and Birdman's Cash Money.
Birdman is seeking unspecified damages for fraud, aiding and abetting a breach of fiduciary duty and interference with contractual relations in the lawsuit. He also wants Aspire's lawsuit to be tossed.

According to ABC, sales decreased by 18.5% in 2017, which is a perfect example of the growing power of streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, among others, at work.
While CDs have begun to become a thing of the past throughout the last several years, vinyl copies of songs and albums will still remain on Best Buy shelves for at least a couple more years, as they continue to quench the nostalgia of music lovers. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), vinyl sales were up 3% in 2016. The RIAA has also reported that in 2016, streaming alone generated more revenue in the United States music business than all other formats combined for the first time ever. Target is expected to be the second retail giant to begin selling fewer amounts of CDs in upcoming months.
