Many Low-Income Families Will Loose Public Housing

“A comfortable setting…would make somebody want to say: ‘I’ll just stay here. They will take care of me,'” said Carson, while on a trip to visit facilities around some of the down trodden areas of Detroit, Dallas, Miami and Ohio earlier this week. Carson is reported as having made several remarks projecting the need for a downgrade, at one point sarcastically stating that a complex reserved for veterans lacked "only pool tables." He was also cited by the Times reporter as having shown favor for an official at a homeless shelter's account of having "stacked dozens of bunk beds inside," and purposely deprived the quarters of televisions.

“We have some people who are mentally ill. We have some elderly and disabled people. We can’t expect in many cases those people to do a great deal to take care of themselves," Carson is reported as stating, before adding that, “There is another group of people who are able-bodied individuals, and I think we do those people a great disservice when we simply maintain them.”

The remarks have incensed some, who believe that many factors, including the lack of access to transportation, jobs, and resourceful networks in areas that have long been undesirable for business all the while devoid of much of a tax base to fund upstarts, leave many with a long climb and a short rope. Such an outlook, they believe, would only serve to punish those with few choices available to them, and does little to actually address the problems Carson has been tasked with alleviating.

The philosophy behind the approach Housing and Urban Development head Ben Carson is about to take as he embarks on policy for federally subsidized living has been exposed by a New York Times report, which reveals the former Republican presidential candidate having made statements that infer that public housing shouldn't be too comfortable a place to live.

Will The Malcolm X Story Be Remade?

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Archaeologists are digging at a boyhood home of Malcolm X in an effort to uncover more about the slain black rights activist’s early life as well as the property’s long history, which possibly includes Native American settlement. The two-week archaeological dig began Tuesday outside a two-and-a-half story home in Boston’s historically black Roxbury neighborhood that was built in 1874.

Bagley says once the initial rubble is cleared, a ground-penetrating radar survey will be used to determine the best locations to dig. Major excavation work is expected to dig up to four feet into the ground. The site will be open to the public throughout to observe the work.

Rodnell Collins, a nephew of Malcolm X who lived with him in the house, hopes the survey can raise public awareness of his family’s deep roots in Boston. He’s been working for years to renovate the dilapidated structure for public tours and other uses. The house was designated a city landmark in 1998 because it’s the only known dwelling from the outspoken activist’s formative years in Boston still standing.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Little had bounced around from foster homes following his father’s death and his mother’s institutionalization for a nervous breakdown. Little-Collins eventually became his legal guardian. But Little rebelled against family life and landed in a Boston prison for burglary charges in his early 20s. There, he became a Nation of Islam follower and dropped his surname in favor of “X” to represent his family’s lost African ancestral name.

A charismatic speaker, Malcolm X quickly became the Detroit-founded Nation of Islam’s principal spokesman during its rapid rise in the 50s and 60s. He founded temples and mosques up and down the eastern seaboard, promoting a message of black nationalism and denouncing white American culture.

Eminem Rap Battle With Chris D'Elia Will Happen

Things are not clear on what Eminem is trying to do by calling certain entertainers to battle him, but it sure looks like the Detroit rapper is winning. On Tuesday, Eminem returned to the 'Gram to promote the collaborative record and to make the following promise to his fans: "Me and @chrisdelia are gonna battle one day," he wrote in the caption.

The 39-year-old comedian, who raps under the Chank Smith alias, caught wind of Em's post and immediately accepted the challenge. The post also included a photo of D'Elia posing with a trunk filled with napkins—a reference to his 2018 freestyle in which he imitated Shady's signature flow.

Eminem was seemingly amused by D'Elia's impression. He posted another clip of the comedian's video titled "Eminem in the cypher." "This is INCREDIBLE!!!," he captioned the video, "4 a second I actually thought it WAS me!!"

D'Elia told Billboard that Logic's team had reached out to him just days before "Homicide" dropped. The comedian said he was honored to be featured on the record, so much so that he refused to accept payment for the sample.

LeBron James May Opt Out

Rumors are that +LeBron James may opt out of his contract with the +Miami HEAT. LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul has informed the Miami Heat that the four-time NBA MVP will exercise his early termination option and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Opting out does not mean that James has decided to leave the Heat. James had until June 30 to decide whether to opt out of the final two years of his contract with Miami. He was scheduled to make $20 million next season and had two years and about $42.7 million remaining on his deal.

“The last four seasons have been historic, and LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Erik Spoelstra have led the Miami Heat to one of the most unprecedented runs in the history of the NBA. We look forward to sitting down with LeBron and his representatives and talking about our future together. At the moment, we are preparing for the opportunities in the draft and free agency as we continue with our goal of winning NBA championships.”

After Miami’s season-ending loss to the San Antonio Spursin Game 5 of the NBA Finals, James told reporters he would take a vacation with his family before considering his contract options. James indicated that he welcomed the opportunity to become a free agent and have the same level of flexibility he was afforded in 2010, when he signed with Miami after spending his first seven years in Cleveland.

In his four seasons in Miami, the Heat have gone to the NBA Finals four times, winning two championships. James could join Shaquille O’Neal as the only players in league history to lead the NBA Finals in total points scored and then play for a different team to start the following season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. O’Neal played for the 2003-04 Los Angeles Lakers, who lost to the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals, and was traded to the Heat in the offseason.

Why Do Eminem Always Diss Christina Aguilera?

Eminem first dissed the "Genie In a Bottle" singer in 2000 on his song "The Real Slim Shady."

Eminem came up through Detroit's underground rap battle scene, where MC's who spit the funniest, wildest rhymes reigned victorious. After his debut album Infinite flopped, he concocted the 'crazy' Slim Shady persona, who evokes the 'anything goes' battle rap mentality.

Ironically, that tactic turned Marshall Mathers into one of the biggest musical artists in the world. Today he still crafts cheeky bars about pop stars, but he's just as likely to collaborate with them.
