Why Is Google Helping To Bring Down R. Kelly?
A newly unsealed court document related to an alleged associate of singer R Kelly shows how Google can hand over data about what people search to the police.
The court filing was submitted in July but unsealed on Wednesday. It details a police investigation into an arson attack on a car outside of the home of a witness involved in the ongoing sexual racketeering case against R Kelly.
The court document showed that investigators linked Michael Williams — a family relation of R Kelly's former publicist — to the arson by sending something called a "keyword warrant" to Google. Specifically, police asked Google for any data on "users who had searched the address of the residence close in time to the arson."

We Miss Google+
A security bug allowed third-party developers to access Google+ user profile data since 2015 until Google discovered and patched it. Google+ made sharing online more like sharing in real life.
Due to low user engagement and disclosed software design flaws that potentially allowed outside developers access to personal information of its users, the Google+ developer API was discontinued on March 7, 2019, and Google+ was shut down for business use and consumers on April 2, 2019.
But here at The Wrap-Up Magazine, Google+ brought many viewers to our platform. We enjoyed and miss Google+.
Photos and videos stored in Google Photos, for instance, will not be affected. Your Google account, which is linked to services such as Gmail, YouTube and Maps, will continue to work, but your Google+ account, which was only used for the social network, will be deleted.

YouTube TV Pulled From Roku
The dispute between Roku and YouTube has escalated.
On Friday morning, Roku said that the YouTube TV app has been removed from its platform, as the contract between the companies has expired. New subscriptions will not be possible until an agreement is reached between the companies.
That being said, the company says that existing YouTube TV subscribers will be able to continue using the service for the time being. YouTube TV is the multichannel video service that provides streaming access to traditional pay-TV channels. The regular YouTube app is not impacted.

Get Your Status Up Grinding
1. Establish profiles on the major social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest). Before launching any social campaigns, take time to figure out which social media site or sites your target customers frequent. Then set up pages or profiles on those sites -- and post content regularly, at least once a week. To centrally manage your social media posting, consider using a service such as Hootsuite
2. Create fresh, shareable content. "Business blogs are the most cost effective way to boost your organic traffic," says Lisa Chu, owner, Black N Bianco Children's Formal Wear. "Google loves original and valuable content. By [creating] informative articles, not only will Google reward your site, but people will organically start sharing your blog posts. [Just] remember: Write for your target audience not for Google.
3. Offer influencers/bloggers free product(s) in exchange for mentions and/or reviews. "When you first start your business, it can be difficult to direct traffic to your site," notes Chu. "A simple way to start a buzz around your product and website is to send out free samples to influential bloggers. Most bloggers will be happy to take your free sample and review it on their blog," she says. "Once the review goes up, there will be a link directly to your site. That link will give you a nice SEO boost on search engines" and will drive traffic to your site.
4. Follow and engage industry influencers on Twitter. "Build a Twitter following by favoriting and retweeting key people in your industry," suggest Amir Tarighat, founder & CEO, Superdense, a Web design and development firm. "Use Twitter's advanced search to find people located within a specific area related to your market and engage with them. You can also create Twitter lists of people in the markets you are trying to reach. Many times they'll engage with you or follow you back."

Jennifer Lopez tops Google’s list
Jennifer Lopez, is the top searched Golden Globes red carpet star since 2010, according to a new report from Google examining trending searches related to the awards show over the past decade.
J.Lo has attended the awards show five times since 2010; her look from the 2015 ceremony, a silver beaded caftan-style gown by Zuhair Murad, emerged as that year’s top searched fashion moment.
Other highlights from the “Hustlers” star’s fashion reign at the Globes include her sexy sheer lace look from 2013 (also by Murad), her sunny yellow Giambattista Valli Couture cape gown from 2016 and her bow-tied Valentino Haute Couture dress from 2020, which sparked comparisons to Christmas presents.

Which Major Website Was Taken Down By Request?
Warner Bros. believes that Google facilitates finding pirated content and wants it to remove websites like The Pirate Bay from search results entirely. The movie studio is doing its best by reporting pirated content to Google and asking it to be removed from the results. Like the entire entertainment industry, Warner Bros. intensified its efforts and thus far it has flagged over 4m allegedly infringing links. The problem is that not all of the reports are accurate – and this week’s example proves this.
Through its anti-piracy partner Vobile, the Hollywood studio asked the search engine to censor its own URLs from the search results, including the official Warner page of the 2008 Batman movie The Dark Knight and another Warnerbros.com URL for the sci-fi classic The Matrix. So, Vobile asks the search giant to remove this link from search results acting on behalf of the studio. A few days earlier, a similar takedown notice targeted Warner’s website, claiming that the official page for The Lucky One is infringing its copyrights.
In this case, Warner Bros. only hurts itself with such takedown requests. But the problem is that its own website is not the only erroneously targeted domain. It also targets a link to the Amazon store, selling or renting a copy of The Dark Knight, as well as a link to Batman Begins in the Sky Cinema store, long with the movie’s official IMDb page.

Google Starts Drone Deliveries
"We have approved Wing Aviation Pty Ltd to operate ongoing delivery drone operations in North Canberra," the Civil Aviation Safety Authority said on Tuesday.
About 3,000 deliveries were made, allowing regulators to judge the project was safe, leading to the first commercial approval in Australia and one of the first anywhere in the world.
Winged drones will only be allowed to fly 11-12 hours a day and they must be piloted, rather than fully automated. The initial area of operations is only about 100 homes, but that is expected to expand quickly.

Why Youtube And Facebook Video Sharing Is Not The Same
Youtube And Facebook |
The growth of Facebook video over the last two years has been widely documented. Its rapid expansion has placed it squarely in the running for top social video platform. To earn that title though, Facebook has to dethrone YouTube, which has long been synonymous with online video.
At the same time, even if someone shares a video on YouTube, that will go to their Google Plus profile and I don't think Google Plus is as active as Facebook. Even if they share YouTube video on Facebook or any other social networking sites that mean you are combining 2 different channels.
YouTube and Facebook have become popular online destinations for sharing information and connecting with others, so it's no surprise that the two sites are compatible. There is not much to say about Youtube, the have been around for years and have the credit to prove it.
Facebook uploads more than Youtube, but Youtube does the most views overall. As a indie artist, best suggestion is to upload to both. Don't know how to share Facebook on other social media platforms, but you know what to do with your Youtube videos!

Google+ Will Now Be Closing Its Doors
In December 2018, Google announced their decision to shut down Google+ for consumers. In April 2019, due to low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product the company will be shutting down it's services.
On April 2nd, your Google+ account and any Google+ pages you created will be shut down and we will begin deleting content from consumer Google+ accounts.

Photos and videos from Google+ in your Album Archive and your Google+ pages will also be deleted. Here is how you can download and save your content.
The process of deleting content from consumer Google+ accounts, Google+ Pages, and Album Archive will take a few months, and content may remain through this time. For example, users may still see parts of their Google+ account via activity log and some consumer Google+ content may remain visible to G Suite users until consumer Google+ is deleted.
As early as February 4th, you will no longer be able to create new Google+ profiles, pages, communities or events.

Facebook Launch Three New Portal Devices
Facebook announced three new hardware products today focused on video calling and augmented reality, doubling down on its voice assistant products that will compete with similar devices from Google and Amazon.
The second-generation Portal, the new Portal Mini and new Portal TV each feature a camera and a set of microphones, and combine video calls with augmented reality features such as multiplayer games and 3D camera lenses.
All three devices, priced $129 to $179, are available for preorder starting today in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Companies like Google and Facebook generally hope to gain insights about consumer behavior through persistent interactions with their products that are eventually used for targeted advertising.
Facebook launched its first Portal device amid intense scrutiny of its privacy practices from U.S. and European regulators in 2018, prompting backlash from several tech reviewers. Facebook is also adding a new privacy option to all Portal devices that allows users to view, listen and delete any of their voice interactions using the Facebook Activity Log.
The devices will also be the first to run Facebook’s updated Portal operating system that was announced at the company’s annual F8 developer conference. In a surprising move, Facebook is adding Alexa skills including flash briefings, smart home controls and Amazon Prime Video to all of its Portal devices.
