Donald Trump Rants Off On Colin Kaepernick

When asked if he thought Kaepernick should get an opportunity to play again in the NFL, Trump said “only if he’s good enough.”

“Colin has always been prepared to compete at the highest level and is in the best shape of his life," a person familiar with Kaepernick's quest to return to the NFL told USA TODAY Sports on Friday. The person was granted anonymity because of the sensitivity of Kaepernick's comeback efforts.

Kaepernick's last NFL appearance was in Week 17 of the 2016 season when he played for the San Francisco 49ers. Shortly after that season, Kaepernick opted out of his contract as he sought a better deal, but he has since remained a free agent.

“Only if he’s good enough,” Trump said outside the White House. “If he was good enough, they’d hire him. Why wouldn’t he play if he was good enough? I think if he’s good enough, I know the owners – I know (Patriots owner Robert) Kraft, I know so many of the owners – if he’s good enough, they’d sign him. ...

“So I’d like to see it. Frankly, I’d love to see Kaepernick come in, if he’s good enough. But I don’t want to see him come in because somebody thinks it’s a good PR move.”

In August 2016, Trump said Kaepernick "maybe ... should find a country that works better for him. In September 2017, Trump said NFL owners should "get that son of a bitch off the field" when any players protest during the national anthem. Trump said in October 2018 that the NFL “should’ve suspended” Kaepernick for his protests of social inequality during the anthem.

In six seasons with the 49ers, Kaepernick, 31, threw for 12,271 yards and 72 touchdowns with 31 interceptions, and also ran for 2,300 more yards and 13 rushing scores.

Lady Gaga Sued

Steve Rosen claims Lady Gaga stole a three-note progression from his 2012 song “Almost.” Through his lawyer, he has filed suit for copyright infringement and damages in the “millions and millions” of dollars.

Lady Gaga’s song “Shallow” earned the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter her first Academy Award. The song, featured in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, is now the subject of a multi-million-dollar lawsuit.

This suit comes as the latest in a string of music copyright lawsuits, beginning with the “Blurred Lines” case, Katy Perry over her song “Dark Horse” and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court Of Appeals’ calling for a new trial over the claim against Led Zepplin.

One of the key elements in these cases is the question of the artists having access to the previous work. Another question arising from these cases concerns the protect-ability of simple chord progressions.

Donald Trump Rants Off On Hollywood

U.S. President Donald Trump made a bold claim regarding the film industry while speaking to press outside the White House.

In the midst of discussing alleged anti-conservative bias in social media, Trump abruptly shifted the topic to entertainment, accusing Hollywood of “racism” without providing context.

Trump is criticizing Hollywood’s terrible history of whitewashing and perpetuation of harmful stereotypes. Considering that Hollywood has recently shown great commitment to diversity and inclusion, the statement seems untimely, at best.

Which Song From Garth Brooks Inspire You The Most?

Garth Brooks has made songs for not only adults, but also for kids to. In the early 1990s, country music embraced Garth Brooks and a style known as New Country that infused the genre with many of the musical sounds and performance practices of stadium rock bands.

With this rock-influenced approach to making country music, Garth Brooks garnered unprecedented success. Brooks destabilized the idea that country was distinct and different from other genres with his open acknowledgement that he was drawing from rock roots.

New Country of the 1990s was not the first time that country and rock had intersected. In the mid 1950s, Elvis Presley and other early rockabilly stars emerged directly out of the country music industry.

All of these developments reinforce the idea that borrowing across genres is a time-honored source of innovation in all of popular music. Garth Brooks in particular, his public avowal of rock as a major influence ironically helped him become the biggest selling country artist of all time and injected country music with a boost in popularity.

So which song from Garth Brooks inspired you the most? What song can you relate to? This is a survey being held by the Wrap-Up Magazine. Leave your thoughts and feelings below!
