V-LO The Maestro (@vlosworld) signs with Rocnation’s Equity Distribution

V-LO The Maestro has been putting in much work over the years. The Washington, Louisiana native has shined on tracks alongside Kevin Gates, Young Buck, Just Brittany, and many more artists accumulating streams in the hundred thousands. More recently he made his first appearance on BET with his “Can’t Phase Me” video. As things continue to look up for the MC we are happy to help announce his partnership with Roc Nation’s Equity Distribution, an entity that works with names such as Tiny Harris, Jadakiss, Chanel West Coast, Vado, Jaz-O and many more. Equity Distribution has become world renown for their alignment with Jay Z’s own Roc Nation imprint. Having a company with the power of Roc Nation backing you, particularly while still being able to move as a largely independent artist, is a great look. As far as how V-LO, also known as Vernon Wiggins, feels about the new deal he states the following: “Its amazing to be releasing my next album with them. I’m so excited about this. This gives me the opportunity to grow even more and it really gives me a chance to showcase my talents on an even bigger stage. I’ve worked very hard my whole career. I’ve made hit records with many notable names in this industry. I’ve been waiting for this new beginning for a long time.” As V-LO The Maestro steps into this next chapter it’ll be quite interesting to see it unfold. He has done a fine job of bringing his unapologetically Southern sound to the masses on his own. To watch him flourish with Roc Nation’s Equity Distribution, a company recently getting coverage in top publications like Complex, OnSmash and Variety will be a real treat. President of the company Krystian Santini states they are heavily focused on breaking artists and this gives them yet another chance to do so.

Lil Wayne Signs To Roc Nation

Now, Wayne has taken to the stage to tell fans that he is now a member of Roc Nation. The rapper had a show at Slippery Rock University, and told fans he is joining the company, saying, "Is it cool if I just say it? It's the Roc. You know I'm a member of that team now." Once Wayne said that he threw up the Roc sign, then went back to performing for the packed out show.

Meek Mill Releases Dream Chasers Records Under Roc Nation

The two hip-hop players celebrated the launch of Dream Chasers Records at the Roc Nation headquarters in New York City, signing contracts at a small press conference and popping champagne to celebrate the partnership.

Meek Mill is in a Jay-Z state of mind: The Philadelphia rapper-turned-entrepreneur is launching a new record label in a joint venture with Jay-Z's Roc NationMeek Mill, 32, will lead Dream Chasers as president, overseeing the label and its staff.

Jay-Z, hip-hop's ultimate businessman, said he and Meek Mill not only bonded musically, but in other areas.

Jay-Z, Mill and others joined forces earlier this year to form a coalition that lobbies for changes to state probation and parole laws, called the Reform Alliance. Meek Mill became a symbol for criminal justice reform activists after a judge in Pennsylvania sentenced him to two to four years in prison for minor violations of his probation.

For his new label, Meek Mill said he hopes to sign hard-working artists looking to move the needle, "not a social media success for the weekend or for the month." Meek Mill recently announced he's now a co-owner of sports-apparel retailer Lids, and will lead the company's creative strategy and release a limited-edition collection of hats.

Lawsuit Dismissed Against Jay-Z & Meek Mill

Jay-Z and Meek Mill have reportedly settled a lawsuit with a Philadelphia police officer who sued both of them along with Roc Nation after a depiction of her in the 2019 Amazon original doc ‘Free Meek.’

The documentary spoke on Meek’s incarceration, and how the rapper shifted his focus on calling out the injustices of the U.S. prison system and criminal justice system in Philadelphia. Crooked police officers in Philly were highlighted as well, but it was revealed that one of the officers—Saqueta Williams, was reportedly proven to be innocent of any wrongdoing as a cop. How Jay-Z created a hip-hop path to luxury

This past Monday, rapper Jay-Z unveiled a deal with LVMH to expand his Armand de Brignac champagne globally. The next day, Oatly, the Swedish vegan-milk group in which he has invested, took its first step towards a $10bn initial public offering.

Jay-Z has further tasks to occupy him, apart from his own music. He still heads Roc Nation, a music and sports talent agency that includes Rihanna among its clients. He is also “chief visionary officer” of a special-purpose company backed by Roc Nation that acquired two Californian cannabis groups in November. And so on.

This year is the 25th anniversary of Jay-Z’s first album Reasonable Doubt, released on his own Roc-A-Fella Records label. Some have lasted and some not, but Jay-Z was ahead of his time in business in a way that is only now clear. “Put me anywhere on God’s green Earth, I triple my worth,” he once rapped. The deal with LVMH, under which the world’s leading luxury group has taken 50 per cent of Armand de Brignac — the “Ace of Spades” champagne praised in his lyrics — is proof of that.

J. Prince Talks Roc Nation and Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion found herself in controversy with her record label 1501 Records after inking a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation last year.

1501 Records simultaneously inked a deal with Houston legend, J. Prince. “Carl is from my hood better known as 5th Ward and I’m proud to be his new partner moving forward,” Prince wrote at the time.

Months later, Meg accused 1501 of not allowing her to drop new music because she requested a negotiation of her contract. She also fired off a $1 million lawsuit and a temporary restraining order, which allowed her to drop all the music we heard since.
