Rod Stewart Talks Never Cooking In His Life

Rod Stewart
Stewart tells Rolling Stone in a new interview that there's no hyperbole at play when he claims on his new album, Blood Red Roses, that he can't even boil an egg.

"In the '70s, it was a different era," he said. "We used to have girlfriends we'd shack up with. And then you'd sort of get fed up with them and they'd leave, or you'd kick 'em out. Horrible, but then you realize, 'Who's gonna cook me dinner? Who's gonna cook me breakfast?' And you find yourself walking down to the local café."

That could explain why the singer has been married three times. He says he's yet to learn his way around the kitchen, though he did try it once.

"I'm still absolutely hopeless," Stewart continued. "I cannot cook to save me life. The last time I tried to make a boiled egg, I had about 20 pans and things out of the cupboard. What a mess. Nothing to be proud of."

Rod Stewart's lone culinary achievements include "a bit of toast and a cup of tea in the afternoon," he admitted.

Metallica Goes Acoustic for Charity Benefit

Metallica supported its All Within My Hands charity foundation with a 12-song acoustic set this past weekend in San Francisco.

The band's set included rearranged versions of its own songs, along with acoustic renditions of some tunes from classic rock heroes like Bob Seger, Deep Purple and Blue Oyster Cult.

Band members James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich were joined by a quartet of backing musicians who provided additional percussion, keyboards, strings and vocal harmony.

While Metallica has several downtempo tunes that prominently feature acoustic guitar, the set fully embraced the band's thrash roots. "Disposable Heroes" from 1986's Master of Puppets was the opener.

The All Within My Hands foundation is aimed at improving workforce education, providing critical local services and especially fighting hunger.

Ulrich revealed during the band's WorldWired tour that for years Metallica has been donating time, money and food to charities in every city they play.

Leading up to the band's second annual Day of Giving this spring, Ulrich wrote in a Rolling Stone op-ed that the band started the foundation and began publicizing its efforts in hopes of increasing volunteer-ism worldwide.

Drake Goes Triple Platinum

The RIAA certified it triple platinum officially on August 3. Views debuted selling one million equivalent units in just one week’s time. It’s also had four songs including “One Dance,” “Controlla,” “Too Good,” and “Pop Style” all climb the Billboard Top 200 chart. This certification takes streaming into consideration when determining units sold.

Views received moderate to good reviews in publications like Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. However, fellow rapper Joe Budden questioned the album’s quality and said Drake sounded “uninspired” on the project, sparking the recent beef between the two.

Jay Z Talks Tidal, Jimmy Iovine, And Rewriting The Music Rulebook

Jay Z doesn’t give many interviews. In conversation, he often pauses mid-sentence, considers, rewinds, slices and reshapes his answer, choosing a more appropriate word or analogy that draws a finer point before revealing it to the interviewer. What’s commonly assumed is a mistrust of the press may just be that unlike his work in the studio or onstage, Jay Z doesn’t ultimately control the final result of an interview, and therefore treads more carefully while giving one.

Travis Barker Talk Tom DeLonge

+Travis Barker just released a statement against +Tom DeLongeTom DeLonge is deceiving fans by saying he’s still in Blink-182 – this according to the band’s drummer Travis Barker, who thinks DeLonge should “just man up and quit the band.” Barker added, “I think the right thing for him to do would just man up and quit the band instead of telling people he didn’t quit and just be real with the fans.”

“We were all set to play this festival and record a new album, and Tom kept putting it off without reason,” the statement read. “A week before we were scheduled to go into the studio, we got an email from his manager, explaining that he didn’t want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely but would rather work on his other, nonmusical endeavors.”

“To all the fans, I never quit the band,” DeLonge wrote on his Facebook page. “I actually was on a phone call about a blink 182 event for New York City at the time all these weird press releases started coming in… Apparently those releases were ‘sanctioned’ from the band. Are we dysfunctional- yes. But, Christ….. ‪#‎Awkward‬ ‪#‎BabyBackRibs‬.”

The drama went back and forth again when Barker and Hoppus followed up with a Rolling Stone interview, in which the pair discussed years of flakiness from DeLonge, who has allegedly been stringing along Blink’s other members for years. DeLonge responded with a blistering open letter on Facebook, saying the group’s relationship “got poisoned.”

Kid Rock Talks Beyonce And White Chicks

Kid Rock told Rolling Stone he is “flabbergasted” by BeyoncĂ© worship, saying, “BeyoncĂ©, to me, doesn’t have a fucking ‘Purple Rain,’ but she’s the biggest thing on Earth. How can you be that big without at least one ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ or ‘Old Time Rock & Roll’? People are like, ‘BeyoncĂ©’s hot. Got a nice fucking ass.’ I’m like, ‘Cool, I like skinny white chicks with big tits.’ Doesn’t really fucking do much for me.”

He has been hanging around with the likes of Hank Williams, Jr. and Bob Seger, the latter of which wrote “F.O.A.D.” (aka, Fuck Off and Die) for Kid Rock’s new album First Kiss. He also bought his 500-acre property in Troy, Ala., from a tip from Williams — sight unseen — to go along with his houses in Michigan, Malibu and Nashville.

Photos Of The Boston Bomber

“I hope that the people who see these images will know that this was real. It was as real as it gets,” Murphy wrote in a posting on the magazine’s website. “This may have played out as a television show. A Massachusetts State Police spokesman said in a statement that the release of the photographs was unauthorized. Boston Magazine reported that Murphy had been relieved of duty hours after the photos were published.

The Aug. 1 issue of Rolling Stone, featuring a softly-lighted “selfie” of Tsarnaev on the cover, sparked a national uproar. Much of the criticism revolved around what has been described as the rock-star treatment of a suspected terrorist, a view Murphy took as well.

Murphy, a tactical photographer, made public for the first time a series of behind-the-scenes photos documenting the night of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s capture in Watertown, Mass.
