Judge Makes Racist Comment

Check this out! A Utica City, New York judge was accused of denigrating Blacks and others. Despite his actions, he got to keep his job. Popeo is alleged to have used a racial slur after a session in his court when he asked an African-American attorney if he knew what New York City Blacks call Black people from upstate New York. When the lawyer said he had no response to the question Popeo posed, the judge allegedly said, “country n***ers.”

There have been other accusations against the Popeo, such as in 2011, he twice referred to a prosecutor as a “cigar store Indian” for not being more aggressive in court. Again in 2011, Popeo came under fire after he was criticized for telling a public defender to “shut up” before then lashing out at a defendant who had smirked in the courtroom. “You’re standing there with a grin that I would love to get off the bench and slap off your face,” Popeo bellowed.

Despite the justice’s courtroom antics, the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct decided that Popeo was not being racially insensitive with the Native American insult. As far as the alleged “country n****rs” comment, the Commission concluded that the insults could not be verified because three other witnesses did not hear the remarks, and Popeo did not ‘fess up to making the statement.

Apple Set To Build New Headquarters In Texas

Apple Inc said on Thursday it would spend $1 billion to build a second campus in Austin, Texas that will house as many as 15,000 workers, amid a broader push by many U.S. companies to create more jobs at home.

The iPhone maker had announced at the start of the year it would invest $30 billion in the United States, taking advantage of a tax windfall stemming from U.S. President Donald Trump's sweeping tax reforms.

The 133-acre campus in Austin will employ workers across various functions including engineering, R&D, operations and finance. The city is already home to the second largest number of Apple employees outside its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple will also set up sites in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, California and hire over 1,000 employees each in these locations, while also expanding operations in Pittsburgh, New York and Boulder, Colorado over the next three years.

Many American multinationals have been facing political pressure to ramp up investments at home as part of Trump's "America First" policies, which have left the United States embroiled in a bitter trade war with China. The president has also warned of tariffs on iPhones and other Apple products imported from China.

Apple's technology rival Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) last month ended a months-long search for its second headquarters, picking New York City and an area just outside Washington, D.C. for massive new offices, with plans to create thousands of jobs.

The new Austin campus will be located less than a mile away from Apple's existing facilities, and will first house 5,000 new employees with the capacity to expand to 15,000.

Trap Manny (@trapmannyhbtl) - "Trap Seazon" LP

Though he is a fresh face in the national rap scene, Trap Manny is no rookie in the game of life. Having gained legendary status in his Bronx neighborhood via his music, Trap’s career trajectory was stifled due to several jail stints. Garnering a co-sign from Hip Hop heavyweight Max B, who had similar struggles with the law, Max offered Trap advice on maintaining artistic integrity and remaining steadfast with his musical aspirations. Tapping into his inner sense of resiliency, Trap Manny reconnected with his longtime friend and fellow Bronx native Don Q, landing him a deal with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Highbridge the Label. Trap’s first few releases showcased his ability to turn gritty stories from his life into bouncy cuts with strained yet soulful melodies that resonated with listeners. Now on the brink of stardom, Trap Manny looks to carve out his own niche with the release of his debut project via Atlantic Records titled Trap Seazon. Featuring contributions from his Highbridge comrades A Boogie and Don Q, the 14-track opus is an encapsulation of his life. Akin to the haunting tales by the iconic DMX, Trap Seazon harkens back to a grimier era of New York City meshed with a new age sensibility. "Empty The Clip," which is the lead single from the project recently had its visuals premiered via HotNewHipHop and "Alone," which features A Boogie has already been staking its claims as one of the standout tracks. In support of the release, Trap Manny is set to perform at various cities throughout the northeast and midwest: June 30 - Common Ground Music Festival - Lansing, MI July 2 - Henry W. Maier Festival Park - Milwaukee, WI July 21 - Mad City Festival - Foxborough, MA August 17 - Funk Master Flex Car Show - Bronx, NY August 30 - Soulfrito Fest - Brooklyn, NY Aug 31 - Hot 104.7 Summer Jam - Portland, ME October 13 - Rolling Loud New York - New York, NY October 25 - Powerhouse Philly - Philadelphia, PA October 26 - Power 105.1 Powerhouse - Newark, NJ

Jennifer Lopez Debuts at $33.2 Million in Hustlers Movie

The new movie is now playing and Hustlers has danced its way to a massive second-place opening weekend. The STXfilms release exceeded expectations to open to an estimated $33.2 million across 3,250 theaters.

Hustlers, which is based on a New York Magazine article follows a band of former strippers, led by Lopez’s Ramona, who come together to turn the tables on their Wall Street Clients. In addition to Lopez and Wu’s buzzy leading roles, the film also stars Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, and features memorable appearances from Cardi B, Lizzo, and Usher.

STX reports that the opening weekend audience was 67 percent female and 69 percent of the film’s audience was over the age of 25.

The film, budgeted at just $20 million, became the rare recent hit that was neither a sequel nor a reboot nor part of a series. It was also the biggest opening ever for a live-action Lopez film, and had numbers comparable to co-star Constance Wu's hit "Crazy Rich Asians," whose long-term box office success could be a model for "Hustlers."

"This is exactly the kind of movie that every studio dreams of producing, because it's going to be profitable, prestigious and a long-term performer," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore. "A lot of original type movies that are non-franchise non-sequels, many of them have had a rough go this year. This is a nice counter-balance to that."

Based on a New York magazine piece, "Hustlers," written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, tells the true story of a group of New York City strippers who, put out by the recession's effects on their Wall Street patrons, start a side con that involves drugging their wealthy marks and running up exorbitant credit card bills that they get a cut of.

According to TMZ, U.S. Customs and Border Protection were able to intercept a shipment at JFK Airport in New York City from China containing $11.7 million in phony championship/team rings.
