For the better part of hip-hop’s existence, it was solely considered a genre of music. We now recognize the larger cultural movement surrounding the New York-bred art form as a leading force driving growth in fashion, entertainment, food and beverage, and technology. It was certainly a banner year for West, especially considering he claimed to be $56 million in debt just over three years ago. Although the entire industry had a great year — with the top 20 acts’ revenue increasing by 33 percent since 2018 — the huge financial increase poses an interesting question: with an album on the way, YEEZY accounting for $1.5 billion in annual sales, and a track record of exploring radical projects, will Kanye West be joining JAY-Z in the billionaire’s club?

Kanye West has revealed that he wants Jay-Z to be his vice-presidential running mate in the upcoming US election.

Speaking to Kris Kaylin of the Charleston radio station Z93 Jamz on Sunday (July 19), West addressed this aspect of his campaign on the same day that he staged his first rally in the South Carolina city.

Kaylin initially brought up the independent presidential candidate Jade Simmons, asking West if he had considered teaming up with her.

Kanye West Buys A Ranch Worth $14 Million Dollars

Kanye West plunked down some serious money for a property called Monster Lake Ranch. The asking price was $14 million for the huge chunk of land outside Cody, Wyoming. Cody is known as the "rodeo capital of the world.

The Ranch itself has 8 lodging units and is known for "monster trout" fishing. It has 2 fresh water lakes, a restaurant, an event center and meeting facilities. And -- it's a ranch, right -- so there are lots of horse barns, corrals and lots of horses.

We're told Kanye West did not pay full price but we don't know exactly how much he plunked down. The property itself is more than 9,000 acres! He now owns 4,500 of those acres, and the rest is leased from the federal government.

Kanye West Documentary Bought by Netflix

According to reports, Netflix has purchased the rights to a new Kanye West documentary film that is 21-years in the making. 

Directors Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah compiled archival footage spanning Ye's 20+ year career and will feature never-before-seen footage of Kanye West from the '90s. It's reported that the film was sold to the streaming giant for $30 million. 

Coodie and Chike have worked with Kanye West for quite a while and directed some of his earlier videos, namely a version of "Jesus Walks" and they helped co-direct "Through the Wire." 

The title of the project has not been disclosed, but Billboard reports it will debut later this year.

Kanye West is suing both Roc-A-Fella Records and EMI for an undisclosed amount of owed money. TMZ revealed that a lot of information is redacted from the lawsuits, but it shows that he's asking for a declaration of his rights and owed money.

The lawsuit also shows that Kanye West signed a deal with EMI in 2003 before releasing The College Dropout, and by 2011 he had written or collaborated on over 200 songs that he gave EMI the rights to. While specific songs weren't listed in the lawsuit, Kanye wrote some of his most influential and successful songs during this time period.

Kanye West is being represented by Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, which is noted as one of the most prestigious and selective law firms in the world.

Kanye West Donates $2 Million Dollars

E! News confirms West donated $2 million in relation to the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor and has been donating to several black-owned businesses in his Chicago hometown.

Kanye West, a father of four, also set up a college savings fund to cover tuition for Floyd's 6-year-old daughter, Gianna. Floyd died on May 25 after police officer Derek Chauvin pinned Floyd to the ground using his knee on Floyd's neck during his arrest. Chauvin and three other officers involved in Floyd's arrest and resulting death have since been fired, arrested and charged in a criminal case.
