GQ: This year’s been great for you. Your new album, Ciara, was a hit and “Body Party” went Gold—it’s one of my favorite tracks this year.
Ciara: It’s one of those songs that happened fast, because it has such a sweet vibe. I can’t even lie, when we were mixing it, I was listening to it over and over like a fan. I don’t like using obvious samples, but it felt right—I couldn’t ignore the track the way [producer] Mike Will flipped the sample of “My boo.” It’s one of those songs a girl can sing to her man and where guys don’t have to feel too cool to slow dance with your girl.
GQ: And you’ve just released your new single, “Overdose.”
Ciara: The song’s got a throwback ’80s vibe with a modern twist; I think that’s unexpected. It’s more a product of my experimentation—it has a vintage-y feel, but I feel like everyone can love it. And what’s better than to dance to the feeling of love? The song’s about embodying that energy.
GQ: Speaking of dancing, you’re one of the best. How would you advise the GQ guy?
Ciara: Go with the flow; don’t overthink it. If you’re a head-nod kind of guy, nod your head. If you’re a guy who likes to coast out and rock or sway, just do that. Whatever you do, don’t get out there and try do something you haven’t practiced. Do what shows your style and vibe—let me catch that without you trying to show me anything. I’m kind of okay to just chill. Keep it simple and let the girl guide you a little bit. If you can do that, I think you’ll be all right.

A man tried to dupe JFK Airport security into thinking he was only bringing in a few bottles of South American booze after arriving in New York from Guyana — but it was actually liquid cocaine he was carrying. Atlanta resident Wilton Sinclair, 35, thought he had officials completely fooled when he arrived in New York on Nov. 17 with four big bottles of purported “El Dorado” rum in two duty-free bags.
Before to boarding his flight to New York from Georgetown, Sinclair had allegedly secretly filled the 1.75 liter glass containers with nearly 18 pounds of liquidized cocaine, which officials later estimated to be worth more than $300,000. But his scheme fell apart when he presented the bags for inspection to US Customs and Border Protection agents.
Customs officers noticed that the liquid in the bottles had an unusual chemical odor and that it was a “thick syrup-like substance inconsistent with rum. The substance tested positive for cocaine — what amounted to 8 kilos, or 17.6 pounds, with a street value of approximately $310,000, officials said. Sinclair was arrested and charged with federal narcotics smuggling.

The Cobb County District Attorney’s office said Friday it will decide in the next couple of weeks whether to charge an Atlanta rapper and a record executive as co-conspirators in the 2015 shooting of Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter’s tour bus.
Prosecutors claim Jimmy “Peewee Roscoe” Winfrey shot up the bus on I-285 after a concert as a way to gain status in a gang.
One theory they initially floated was that Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Jeffrey “Young Thug” Williams put him up to it.
The Georgia Supreme Court overturned Winfrey’s conviction last year after ruling the Cobb County judge improperly coerced him into taking a plea deal and accepting a 10-year prison sentence by threatening he would get more time if a jury convicted him in his court.
On Thursday, the Court of Appeals remanded the case back to Cobb County.
“Mr. Winfrey always denied being the shooter of the bus,” Manny Arora, who represented Winfrey in his first trial, told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik.
The driver of the bus, Alvin Lewis, is suing Winfrey, Birdman and Young Thug, alleging they conspired in the shooting that caused him pain and suffering.
In a civil court filing this week, Lewis’ attorney, Jeff Gewirtz, included pieces of evidence from the criminal case that he argues point to that conspiracy.
Among the documents obtained by Petchenik, phone records that the lawsuit said shows Young Thug called Winfrey eight times in the 12 minutes leading up to the shooting.
Petchenik also obtained a jailhouse phone call referenced in the lawsuit. In it, Bryan “Birdman” Williams is talking to Winfrey.
“Time for you to come out here and get your money,” he can be heard telling Winfrey. “You did everything you could do boss ... it’s eye-opening. (It's) strictly business, man.”
Arora told Petchenik he doesn’t buy the conspiracy argument.
“The musician that was the intended target has never once said, 'these guys did it' or 'there was a beef,'” Arora said. “He’s actually been pretty silent on this whole issue.”
Arora said he believes the civil suit is a money grab.
“This is just a bus driver looking to get paid and they need a deep pocket so if you connect Mr. Winfrey to other musicians or executives, that makes it a viable case for them,” he said.
The casting call was found by Nadeska on the website Backstage and the specifics of the roles have now been removed. According to the listing details Migos will be shooting the video in Atlanta on Dec. 10th.
