Going Platinum according to Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) means your song, which in this case is the hit single, Fall, has sold over 20,000 Unit which is the amount that guarantees a Platinum status while 10,000 Unit guarantees Gold.

While he is being congratulated for this height in his career, most people do not understand what it means to go Platinum in South Africa. So in plain terms, Fall produced by Kiddominant has sold up to 20,000 units in South Africa.

Respect Is Earned, Not Given

Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is something earned, not something given. The fallacy in this philosophy is that true respect is earned, not bestowed. It easy to hate someone you don't even know. Respect needs to be earned, and I see daily examples in which respect is earned and not given.

If someone needs to earn your respect, then you do not actually respect the person, you are only respecting their achievement, talent, or attirbutes. If you respect a person, you choose to do so without regard to what they have or have not done.

The Push To Save Africa's Elephants

Elephants are on the verge of going extinct in Africa due to mass killings of the beast. 96 elephants are killed each day in Africa, according to one estimate, and nowhere is that clearer than in Zakouma National Park.

Every day, in this remote wildlife refuge in the Salamat region of southeastern Chad, park rangers risk their lives to protect elephants that have managed to survive the poaching massacres of the last decade.

A handful of men throw themselves flat to the ground, aim, and fire their Glock pistols, hitting distant targets. They jump up, run, and fire again from standing positions, repeating the drill with Kalashnikovs.

Duboscq leads the men through a rallying cry for Zakouma; the rest of the exercise is all business. They're capable of taking on armed poachers, handling sniper rifles, and engaging in a firefight. They're trained in making arrests, judicial procedures and presenting evidence in court.

Libya Faces ISIS Crisis

How do one network gain the attention of the world? By doing whats ISIS does I guess. Italy warned that ISIS is at Europe’s doorstep as France and Egypt called for the United Nations Security Council to meet over the spiraling crisis in Libya.

French President Francois Hollande spoke by phone with his Egyptian counterpart, President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, to discuss the situation in Libya on Monday, according to Hollande’s office. It said the two spoke of the growth of ISIS in Libya and “underscored the importance of the security council meeting and for the international community to take new measures” against the threat.

United Nations negotiators have been meeting with representatives from the internationally-backed government and the one which claimed power through force in Tripoli last summer. Libya is not only situated close to Egypt and Algeria, but is just across the Mediterranean Sea from Europe. The spiraling violence has sent floods of migrants to European shores — and ISIS has repeatedly mentioned Rome as a benchmark of its growth.

ISIS has been operating in Libya for months. One group of Libyan fighters pledged allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in November and at least two other factions followed suit. Since then, ISIS supporters in Libya have claimed responsibility for a number of attacks — including the November car bombings outside of the Egyptian and U.A.E. embassies.

For now, ISIS is competing for influence against the many other Islamist militant groups in Libya. The group might be able to rely on the fact that they’re more disciplined and better organized than some of their rivals, according to Firas Abi Ali, who heads Middle East and North Africa forecasting for IHS Country Risk.

The World Largest Smartphone Makers

The latest numbers from Strategy Analytics reveal that Apple tied Samsung during Q4 2014 to become the world’s largest smartphone maker based on global shipments. According to the report, both Apple and Samsung shipped 74.5 million smartphones during the three-month period of October through December. Apple’s number is an official figure from its financial results, while Samsung’s number is an estimate since the company stopped reporting smartphone shipments a few years ago. The research firm adds that Apple and Samsung were last tied in smartphone market share in Q4 2011.

Apple experienced a record-breaking first quarter of the fiscal year because of strong demand for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The larger screen sizes of the two new smartphones were a major selling point for many consumers, attracting more new customers and Android converts than ever before. Meanwhile, Samsung reported a 27% quarterly decline in earnings earlier today amid tough competition from both Apple and up-and-coming Chinese rivals such as Xiaomi and Huawei.

Strategy Analytics claims that global smartphone shipments grew 31% annually to eclipse a record 380 million units in the fourth quarter. An estimated 1.3 billion smartphones were shipped worldwide in 2014, with strong growth in emerging markets such as China, India and Africa. Apple has experienced a lot of momentum in China, noting that its online sales in the region for 2014 were more than the previous five years combined.

Apple also surpassed Microsoft to become the world’s second largest mobile phone vendor on the strength of the United States and China. Apple’s 74.5 million smartphone shipments placed ahead of Microsoft’s 50.2 million units shipped, but were behind Samsung’s market leading 95 million units shipped. Apple and Samsung have global mobile phone market shares of 14.5% and 18.4% respectively.

Boko Haram Attack Kills Hundreds

Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau claimed a massive attack on the northeast Nigerian town of Baga and threatened Niger, Chad and Cameroon in a new video published online on Tuesday evening.

The message came as Nigeria and its neighbours met in Niger’s capital, Niamey, to discuss a regional response to the threat and Chadian troops headed to Cameroon to help repel repeated Boko Haram attacks. “Heavy clashes” between Islamist fighters and Cameroon soldiers were reported in the far northern border village of Bonderi on Tuesday night.

Hundreds of people, if not more, are feared to have been killed in the attack on Baga, a fishing town on the shores of Lake Chad, in what could be the militants’ worst in their six-year rebellion. The rebels burnt large parts of the town to the ground and razed at least 16 surrounding settlements, forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes, many of them into Chad and Niger.

“We killed the people of Baga. We indeed killed them, as our Lord instructed us in His Book,” Shekau said in the 35-minute message, which was posted on the video-sharing website YouTube. The militant leader was shown speaking in front of four white pick-up trucks, with eight masked and heavily armed men. But there was no indication of when or where the video was shot.

Survivors of the Baga attack, which also saw Boko Haram fighters capture a military base used by Nigerian, Nigerien and Chadian troops, have described how bodies still littered the streets. Shekau dismissed the extent of the slaughter, saying: “We will not stop. This is not much. You’ll see.”

Representatives from Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon have been meeting to seek a regional response to the threat from Boko Haram because of increasing fears of cross-border raids. Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has also suggested a new force, possibly under the auspices of the African Union, to crush the group.

But in the video, Shekau dismisses the threat and shows off a huge arsenal of weapons, apparently from the military base, and said Boko Haram would take on all-comers. “The kings of Africa, you are late. I challenge you to attack me even now. I’m ready,” he said.

Cross Dressing Mafia Boss Arrested

Gionta was arrested by plain clothes policemen at the Sicilian port of Pozzallo as he tried to board a ferry for Malta using false papers. Agents found €1,000.- in his pockets. A man and two women who were accompanying Gionta were also placed under arrest. All four are now in a prison in Syracuse, Sicily. It is unknown whether Gionta was planning on staying in Malta or only using it as a short stop on his way to North Africa.

As a fugitive you have to be creative to remain a free man. Even when that means dressing up as a woman every now and then. Just ask 42-year-old Camorra boss Aldo Gionta. Gionta is the leader of the Torre Annunziata clan of Sant’Antonio Abate. A Naples clan that was founded by his father, Valentino Gionta (right), who is currently in prison under the 41-bis law, which is reserved for Italy's most dangerous gangsters. He was convicted of ordering the murder of journalist Giancarlo Siani.

Most of Valentino’s relatives were arrested in a huge anti-Mafia operation in November of 2008 targeting the Torre Annunziata clan in Naples. Around 80 clan members were charged with mafia association, murder, extortion, and drug trafficking. Among them was Aldo Gionta, then 36.

Italian prosecutors indicated that the clan made € 170,000 per day from trafficking drugs alone and that the Gionta clan is among Italy’s most prolific narcotics smugglers. Authorities seized € 80 million worth of properties consisting of 11 companies operating in the construction sector, sportswear, and wholesale seafood products, 63 apartments, cars, and personal items of significant value such as gold jewelry.

Locked up with nowhere to go, Gionta continued to be a wiseguy through and through. In various letters he sent while behind bars in the Opera prison in Milan, Gionta turned to his son Valentino, Jr., urging him to “learn to shoot with a Kalashnikov, then I'll tell you what to do.” And that his son had to “be smart, attentive to bugs. And not afford to do anything without my permission.”

While awaiting a verdict in his trial, Gionta, surprisingly enough, was allowed to go outside. A very lenient judge was sympathetic to Gionta’s pleas that he regretted his decisions in life. While Italy has cracked down on the Mafia it has left its various criminal organizations plenty of opportunities to get away with their age old business of racketeering and gangsterism. So, the judge gave Gionta a little bit more wiggle room.

It couldn’t have come as a huge surprise when Gionta (right) did not come in when he was ordered to. Italian authorities had yet another Mafia fugitive on their hands. And as one Bernardo Provenzano showed, those guys can play hide and seek like no one else.

Running from the police, Gionta wore wigs and dressed in women's clothing to avoid capture. An unusual move for an Italian Camorra boss. Yet it’s not something that hasn’t been done before. Infamous Dutch crime boss Stanley Hillis once fled the scene after a robbery by dressing up as a woman.
