What Happened to FUBU?

This video shares the real truth behind FUBU. "What happened to FUBU?" "Is FUBU back?" "Did FUBU close?" - It's all right here!

FUBU mostly withdrew from the U.S. market, concentrating its efforts in Saudi Arabia, China, Korea, Japan and South Africa. Daymond, J. Alexander, Keith, and Carl still own FUBU and remain close today. Daymond is still creating spaces for entrepreneurs through Shark Tank.

The NBA’s Highest-Paid Players 2019-20

At $92 million, including salary and endorsements, James is the NBA’s highest-paid player for the sixth straight year. It is a record haul for an active basketball player. Nike is his biggest backer, and the company is naming a new research lab at its Beaverton, Oregon, corporate campus after James.

The four-time NBA MVP added a pair of endorsement deals in 2019 with Rimowa luggage and Walmart, which joined Coca-Cola, Beats By Dre, Blaze Pizza and NBA 2K in his sponsorship stable. He also has a budding digital media company, Uninterrupted, and a production firm, SpringHill Entertainment, which will release a sequel to the 1996 Michael Jordan vehicle Space Jam in conjunction with Warner Bros. in 2021. All of the off-court work is worth an estimated $55 million for James this season.

Stephen Curry comes in at No. 2 on the earnings list this year and is expected to generate $85 million this season, including $45 million off the court. Under Armour represents nearly half of his off-court income.

Curry’s $40.2 million salary from the Golden State Warriors is the highest in the history of the NBA; he’s in the third season of the five-year, $201 million contract he signed in 2017. Curry’s production company, Unanimous Media, has a development deal with Sony Pictures. Unanimous’ first movie, Breakthrough, was released in April, with Curry playing a role in marketing the Christian-oriented film, which grossed $50 million on a $14 million budget.

Durant has the NBA’s second-biggest annual shoe contract after James’ at an estimated $26 million this season. His total earnings from his playing salary and endorsements is $73 million. Nike sells more KD shoes in China than in North America, according to Durant’s business partner Rich Kleiman.

Like James and Curry, Durant has his own production company, which is co-producing a new basketball-themed drama, Swagger, that is inspired by Durant’s youth basketball experience and will air on the Apple TV+ streaming service.

The Car Vending Machine

It’s finally here, the giant ‘car vending machine’ once was a fantasy is now a reality and it is open for business in China. Ford and Alibaba teamed up to design a massive machine, located in Guangzhou, China, and offers a variety of vehicles for three-day test drives.

The five-story contraption, which holds 42 vehicles in all, is essentially a Ford-branded garage with rotating platforms, similar in design to parking garages commonly seen in Japanese cities and other countries in Asia.

The World's Longest Bridge

For a guy like me who is afraid of heights, you may never catch me walking on this bridge. The Europe Bridge spans 494m and hangs up to 85m above a ravine near the town of Zermatt, and has a system in place to prevent swinging.

The bridge for hikers billed as the longest hanging pedestrian bridge in the world has opened in Switzerland. China has built five of the 10 longest suspension bridges in the world, including the Xihoumen bridge. It's a man-made wonder, the world's highest (and maybe even scariest) tunnel-to-tunnel bridge.

Vanilla Ice Rants Off

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) The rapper and reality TV personality can be seen yelling at a guy who told him that he should have been “watching the monitor, dude.” He screamed at the guy after yelling at two Delta employees. “Hey, I don’t need any information from you, man. Shut your f**kin mouth. I don’t give a f**k. Shut your mouth. I don’t need anything from you. You don’t work here. Shut up,” said Vanilla Ice.

He screamed at another employee before talking to the woman seen in the video, according to China K, the person who uploaded the video onto YouTube. China K claimed Ice cursed out the other employee before he walked away. The woman in the video was summoned after his initial outburst.

The rapper commented on the situation after the video was released, as he Tweeted, "Hahha- funniest thing about this video is the guy that was the smart ass, had a TMNT shirt on I told him he's not worthy. #Funny." He added, "How funny, vanilla ice has a meltdown. More like over caffeinated, and no sleep. Wrong actions but right point."

Baby With 15 Fingers And 16 Toes

Hong Hong is four months old. At first glance, he may look like any other bouncing bundle of joy — but on closer examination, he’s a little different. Hong Hong was born with 31 fingers and toes. Shortly after his birth in January in China’s Hunan province, doctors diagnosed him with polydactylism.

Polydactyly is relatively common, affecting around one in 1,000 newborns — but in China, it’s even more common and affects 2 in every 1,000. The condition is hereditary and, there’s a 50% chance that parents with polydactyly will have offspring with multiple digits, too. So, it’s not surprising that Hong Hong’s mother suffers from it as well.

Because he’s just an infant, Hong Hong is too young for surgery right now. Also, the family told CNN that docs are saying the surgery could be more complicated than most, in part because it would involve reconstructing thumbs.

The family doesn’t have money to spare, so the $30,000 price tag is a stumbling block as well. At first, they decided to try online fundraising, but after receiving mixed comments, they ended the campaign.

Shaquille O’Neal And Allen Iverson Nominated For The Hall of Fame

The larger-than-life 7-foot-1 big man and the ultra-quick 6-0 point guard lead the 10-member Class of 2016, which was announced Monday. Much like during their playing careers, there was no stopping Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson when it came to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

O’Neal won four NBA championships and an MVP award and is in the league’s top 10 in career scoring. Iverson won four scoring titles and was the league’s MVP in 2001, when his 48-point performance for the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals handed O’Neal’s Los Angeles Lakers their only loss of the most dominant postseason in NBA history.

Iverson and O’Neal will be enshrined along with Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, former Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, former WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes and Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf. Longtime NBA referee Darrell Garretson, coach John McLendon and former stars Zelmo Beaty and Cumberland Posey will be enshrined posthumously.

O’Neal is one of four players to win three Finals MVP awards, joining Michael Jordan (6), Tim Duncan (3) and Magic Johnson (3). He was one vote shy in 1999-2000 of becoming the first unanimous MVP in NBA history as Iverson received the only other first-place vote.

Izzo has reached seven Final Fours and earned 524 career victories since becoming the head coach at Michigan State in 1995. In 2000 he guided the Spartans to the NCAA national championship with an 89-76 win over Florida.

Ming, the No. 1 overall pick by the Rockets in 2002, didn’t have the numbers of some other great centers, but he bridged a path for the NBA to China. The third Chinese player in league history was an eight-time All-Star before injuries shortened his career, as he missed 159 out of a possible 164 games in the last two years in the NBA. Ming was a first-team all-rookie in the 2002-03 season. In his first game against O’Neal, he blocked his first three shot attempts in the first three minutes of the game.

Swoopes was the first player signed by the WNBA. She went on to win three MVP awards and four championships in the league, but it was her 47-point performance in leading Texas Tech to the 1993 NCAA championship that many think of first when talking about one of the greats of women’s basketball.

Freddie Roach Talks Floyd Mayweather

Since their mega-fight was announced amid much fanfare on Feb. 20, neither Floyd Mayweather Jr. nor Manny Pacquiao have had anything bad to say about the other. But Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, isn’t as interested in playing nice.

In a telephone interview with Yahoo Sports from Macau, China, where he is preparing Zou Shiming to challenge Amnat Ruenroeng for the IBF flyweight title in Cotai Arena, Roach blasted Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., and said Mayweather Jr. would be far better off with his uncle, Roger Mayweather, working his corner.

Roach said Roger Mayweather is a better trainer than Floyd Mayweather Sr., and said he believes he’d face a more challenging battle when the welterweight title fight happens on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas if Roger Mayweather were the one giving Floyd Jr. the instructions.

“My whole thing is, Floyd’s not going to have his best cornerman in his corner because there’s no question in my mind that Roger is the better trainer,” said Roach, who turns 55 on Thursday. “Floyd got 90 percent of his wins with Roger working with him. Roger is way better. I think Floyd Sr. is a terrible cornerman, I really do. That’s going to work to our advantage on fight night because in the corner, I’m not going to be nervous and I’ll be able to calmly talk to Manny and make whatever adjustments we have to make.

Mayweather Sr. has had great success in his career, but most notably with his son. Mayweather Jr. is 47-0, the long-time pound-for-pound champion and one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport. But Roach, a six-time winner of the Eddie Futch Award as the Trainer of the Year, disputed a contention that Mayweather Sr. deserves a lot of credit for his son’s development.

“Look, Floyd was in the gym when he was five and the guy was born to fight,” Roach said. “Everyone who has been around this sport knows that. You have to give him a ton of credit. He has great talent, but he’s extremely smart in the ring and he knows what he’s doing. He’s training himself now. I know that. He’s a self-made guy.

Steve Francis Gets His Chain Snatched

Former Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic and New York Knicks guard Steve Francis got dragged to the floor, stepped on and choked by his own chain, which was later stolen, during an altercation at a hip-hop show in Houston over the weekend.

Francis, 38, was one of many people on stage during a concert by Houston rap duo the Sauce Twinz. For one reason or another, beef began to broil, and before long, Francis found a hand around the gold chain around his neck, then found himself on the floor. Sources told TMZ that the as-yet-unidentified man who grabbed the chain ended up making off with it, and that police were not called to the scene in connection with the fight or the theft.

This is the latest in a string of sad and somewhat concerning updates on Francis over the past year, as the nine-year NBA veteran and former No. 2 overall pick in the 1999 draft — who last played pro ball in China in 2010, making just four appearances for the Beijing Ducks before being cut — has become considerably more likely to make headlines for things going awry or getting weird in nightclubs than for anything else.

Beijing Highest In Billion-Dollar Startups

While it’s undeniable that a good bulk of billion-dollar startups come out of Silicon Valley, it seems that the majority of these billion-dollar valuations actually come from cities elsewhere. According to recent data presented on data visualization platform Silk.co., of the 156 Internet and software startups that have met this billion-dollar bar, 63 percent come from cities outside of the Valley. Overall, San Francisco, CA and Beijing, China were found to be the top cities with the highest concentration of these billion-dollar companies.

The data was analyzed by the London, UK-based Atomico, a growth-stage, global venture firm, and looked at the overall state of billion-dollar startup valuations. While their data does indeed back up this notion that the Bay-area is prime spot for technology companies (with San Francisco leading the billion-dollar company count at 29 startups; 57 total in the overall Silicon Valley-area), they also show that opportunities lay outside that area – even outside the United States (with Beijing coming in at second with 17 billion-dollar companies; 20 total in the overall area in and around Beijing). On a per-continent basis, North America leads with 88 companies, followed by Asia with 43, and then Europe with 25.

To compile the Silk report, Atomico looked at data on billion-dollar valuations between 2003 and 2014. On average, they discovered that an average of 14 companies have reached the much-desired billion-dollar valuation each year in the last decade. They also found that the average time it took for these companies to reach the billion-dollar mark was six years from their initial founding; however, they also found there’s a increasing trend towards companies reaching this bar at a much faster pace than previously – with 32 companies in their data having surpassed the billion-dollar mark within three years of being founded. Looking at the data even closer, we find that 70 percent of the companies (110 out of 156) didn’t reach that mark until after the start of 2013.

Further, the data looks into the sectors represented by these startups and whether their offerings were enterprise- or consumer-facing. Whereas enterprise and consumer products share a pretty equal split among North American billion-dollar companies, the dynamic is different in Asia, where 93 percent of their billion-dollar companies had consumer products. Enterprise apps overall led in terms of sectors producing the most billion-dollar companies – with 28 companies offering some kind of enterprise product.

The report suggests that Silicon Valley isn’t the only place in the world where tech startups can find success. From international startup hubs like Stockholm, Sweden (which has seen 5 companies reach the billion-dollar mark) to U.S. cities like Austin, TX (which has had 3 companies in the billion-dollar club), the opportunity to become one of these billion-dollar unicorns can happen literally anywhere in the world. For an in-depth look at the data, visit the interactive Silk report or head directly to Atomico’s summary of the data.

New Microsoft Lumia Smartphones

Microsoft has leapt on the bling bandwagon with the launch of a gold edition of its flagship Lumia 930 smartphone, as well as its recently-unveiled Lumia 830. Announced back in April, the Lumia 930 was one of the first devices announced specifically for Windows Phone 8.1, and already shipped in a number of bright colors, including green, orange, and white.

The phones aren’t entirely caked in gold, however. They will come in black or whte variants, with a gold finishing touch. The Lumia 830 incarnation will be available from next month in Europe, Asia Pacific, China, India, and across select markets in the Middle East and Africa. The price will vary across the boad,

The Lumia 830 Gold is expected to be available in black and white in February. This smartphone can be purchased in select countries in Europe, Asia Pacific and China, and India, the Middle East and Africa. The price will vary by region and network, though for guidance the existing device costs around $430 SIM-free.

A Place For Pedestrians

Chongqing is one of China’s biggest and fastest growing cities with a population of around 11 million people. In recent years, pedestrianised streets have been turned into motorways in the Chinese metropolis Chongqing. Now the city council is returning the streets to pedestrians and cyclists, and has teamed up with a Danish urban planner.

Chongqing has developed in the same way as hundreds of other Chinese metropolises: skyscrapers shoot up everywhere, while old buildings are demolished. Cars have taken over with multi-lane motorways, while pedestrians and cyclists have been displaced.

But now the citizens of Chongqing are about to reclaim their streets. Chongqing city council has teamed up with the Danish urban research and design consulting firm Gehl Architects, which pecialises in pedestrianised streets and pedestrian-friendly urban spaces.

The objective is to create an interconnected pedestrian network through central Chongqing, which like Manhattan in New York, consists of a peninsula between two rivers. This can be achieved by making urban routes recognisable and easy to navigate, for example by using uniform paving, good lighting and signposting, and setting up benches and similar urban furniture.

Denmark has long had a liking for pedestrian-friendly city spaces. 50 years ago, one of the world’s first carfree pedestrianised streets, Strøget, was established in the capital city Copenhagen. At 1.1 kilometres in length, it remains one of Europe’s longest pedestrianised streets.

The same backlash against the domination of the car is being seen in China. Urban planners, mayors and citizens are all insisting on better conditions for pedestrians in cities. Kristian Villadsen comments that the same themes which have developed in the West are also emerging in China today, i.e. to create attractive, vibrant, safe, sustainable and healthy cities:

“In China, people are very good at using public transport, but if public transport is seen only as a means of transporting the greatest possible number of people from A to B and it is forgotten that people don’t live at the station but also have to get there, it won’t function. Public transport then becomes solely for those who don’t have a car”.

Top 3 Places To Visit In The World

The Wrap-Up Magazine.com has released the top 3 places to visit in the world.

First on the list is the photo above is The Colosseum in the city of Rome. The ancient Roman Amphitheater still stands in the Italian capital, and you can tour it for less than $20. And once you’re in Rome, it’s not like you won’t find anything else to see and do.

The Great Wall Of China came up next on the list of top 5 places to visit. Much of the wall that stands today is from the Ming Dynasty of the 14th-17th centuries, but for its entire existence the Great Wall of China was nothing short of a work-in-progress. It’s officially 5,500 miles long, and you can visit this manmade barrier at several locations throughout China.

The Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, Egypt is 3rd on the list. They’re one of the true Seven Wonders of the World, but no one can seem to agree on just exactly how these 4,600 year old pyramids were built. Still, everyone definitely agrees that the Giza Pyramids are a bucket list destination. Hop on a camel and traverse the complex, or see the temples while sailing down the Nile.
