Woman Stabs Transgender Man

This past week, a transgender man named Ijan Jarrett was stabbed by a woman on Christmas night while riding the MTA 4 train in New York City after offering her his seat. She was charged with weapons possession, reckless endangerment, and assault as a hate crime.

According to Jarrett, a woman named Stephanie Pazmino was riding the 4 train along with her cousin when he decided to offer his seat to the woman. Pazmino declined, then immediately told her cousin that she doesn't want to sit next a black person. Jarrett said "I got up anyway and said to her that she didn’t have to sit next to me. I took a seat across from her and just forgot all about it.” From there, when the woman got up to get off the train, she began to punch Jarrett. However, the woman also had a knife in her hand, which Jarrett did not realize. According to police reports, the woman had a two-inch knife which she used to slash the man in the face with. From there, Jarrett hopped off the train and ran to alert the police, then passed out shortly after. Pazmino ended up getting caught at the corner of 125th Street and Lexington Ave in Harlem.
