$100 Million Endowment Fund for Slavery Reparations

 

News recently surfaced noting Harvard University is setting $100 million aside as part of an endowment fund to “close the educational, social and economic gaps that are legacies of slavery and racism.” The news was revealed during Harvard's president's email sent to students, staff, and faculty. 

A 100-page report was linked to the email, which a 14-member committee created on Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery. A legal historian and constitutional law expert named Tomiko Brown-Nagin served as a chair.

According to an announcement from Twitter, the company revealed they entered a deal to be acquired by the billionaire for $44 billion. Twitter shareholders will reportedly receive $54.20 per share, and the social media network will become a privately held company upon the finalization of the deal. As a result of the news, trading for Twitter was halted.

Jazz-soul singer Tosha Owens led the slate of winners Sunday night at the 31st Detroit Music Awards, taking three honors across multiple genres.

Owens took outstanding blues artist, rock-pop recording (“Love More, Hate Less” with Bob Mervak) and vocalist in the streaming ceremony, the show’s third year as an online-only event.
