Selena Gomez and J.Lo headlining concerts for COVID-19

 


Backed by an international concert hosted by Selena Gomez and headlined by Jennifer Lopez, Global Citizen is unveiling an ambitious campaign to help medical workers in the world’s poorest countries quickly receive COVID-19 vaccines.


The anti-poverty organization is announcing the musical event — “VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World” — with the goal of enlisting corporations and philanthropists to raise $22 billion for global vaccinations. The concert, which airs May 8 on ABC, CBS and FOX as well as on iHeartMedia radio stations and YouTube, will also showcase the Foo Fighters, Eddie Vedder, J Balvin and H.E.R.

Africa’s First Ever Continental Sports Car


Made in Nigeria and available in West Africa, Mallo’s company, Bennie Technologies Ltd., made history as the first Afro-centric sports car, Black Business reported.


The red luxury car, called the Bennie Purrie, is made out of recyclable material, making it eco-friendly. Instead of using materials like aluminum alloy or galvanized sheets to protect the car’s hood and exterior, the Bennie Purrie uses recycled fiberglass, also known as reinforced plastic.

Police Seize $1.7B Worth of Cocaine

 


According to reports, police in Belgium noted they seized 28 tons of cocaine after they were able to gain access to an encrypted phone network used by dealers. The estimated value of the amount of cocaine seized reportedly came out to 1.4 billion euros, equal to almost $1.75 billion USD.


The Belgian Federal Police issued a statement on the matter earlier this week, said that police seized almost 28 tons of cocaine from the port of Antwerp. One of the shipments found reportedly contained 11 tons of cocaine and was shipped overnight from April 2 into the 3rd.

No Limit Rapper Mac Granted Clemency

 


No Limit rapper McKinley "Mac" Phipps Jr. has been granted clemency by Louisiana's Governor after serving 21 years of a 30-year sentence.


Mac served prison time for the murder of a teen fan. The rapper was 22-years-old at the time of his arrest and maintained his innocence throughout his incarceration. In addition, various individuals came forward and supported Mac's claims.
