A $57.25 Million Luxury Condo

Murdoch is buying the top four floors of new Manhattan luxury condo One Madison for $57.25 million. The 60-story glass tower on E. 23rd St. offers amazing New York city views, including clear views of the new World Trade Center. Murdoch’s new “quadruplex” penthouse includes more than 10,000 square feet, features five bedrooms, 5½ bathrooms, a spiral staircase and wide-open living areas, all wrapped by floor-to-ceiling glass. The condo also has an internal private elevator.

Mr. Murdoch recently became a bachelor after he and his former wife, Wendi Deng, divorced last November, ending 14 years of marriage. As part of the divorce settlement, he signed over to Ms. Deng a triplex penthouse at 834 Fifth Avenue, which he bought for $44 million in 2005. The couple’s two young daughters, Grace and Chloe, will live with their mother.

Mr. Murdoch’s new apartment will be on the 57th through 60th floors of One Madison, a building near Madison Square Park. The owner of the building, Related Companies, said in a statement announcing the sale — without naming Mr. Murdoch as the buyer — that the apartment encompassed more than 10,000 square feet.

The residence “offers a soaring double-height great room with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and a wraparound terrace, with uninterrupted cinematic views of Manhattan, river to river and from the World Trade Center to the uptown tip of Madison Avenue.

Dance Stopped Due To Twerking

A Peters Township High School dance had to be stopped early due to students “twerking.” The Observer-Reporter says school administration stopped the dance, and students were told they could leave about an hour early.

Board member Williams Merrell was chaperoning the dance, and told the paper that he has contacted the local Arthur Murray Dance Studio to see if the students could be taught dance lessons. Merrell said he hopes the students learn dance moves, as well as social graces.

The school district says it was not a school-sponsored dance, and the district is reportedly discussing how to avoid similar situations in the future. There were a reported 600 students at the dance.

Lil Wayne’s Friend Killed By Police

Rumors are that +YMCMB YOLO member +Lil Tunechi also known as +Lil Wayne friend has been killed by police. Keith “Magik” Atkinson, close friend of YMCMB bosses Lil Wayne and Mack Maine, was killed last week by New Orleans police, and his family and friends say the circumstances surrounding his death are questionable.

Atkinson, 31, happened to be at a convenience store when police came to respond to a shoplifting incident. The description given said the suspect was wearing a blue shirt. Atkinson also was wearing a blue shirt, but witnesses present have gone on record and stated that Atkinson was not the shoplifter. Nonetheless, he ended up being shot four times by officer Jonathan Hirdes. Apparently, when told to put his hands up, Atkinson had a drink in his hand that Officer Hirdes supposedly mistook for a gun.

Atkinson had his fair amount of run-ins with the law as he was on probation for a cocaine possession charge at the time of his death. Despite his trouble, his father, Keith Joseph, says he didn’t deserve to die like this.

Kentucky Approves Felon Voting Bill

The hour-long debate during a committee hearing included a visit from U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Bowling Green, who testified in support of the bill and said the compromise satisfied him. Kentucky’s Senate approved the restoration of voting rights for thousands of former felons, but changed the legislation to impose a five-year waiting period.

Before the Senate voted 34-4 on Wednesday Republicans said their amendment was necessary to move the issue forward. House Bill 70′s backers said it wouldn’t be an improvement over the current process, in which felons must appeal to Kentucky’s governor to regain the right to vote.

A standing room-only crowd packed the committee hearing room and Capitol staff set up an overflow room. The Senate’s changes include a requirement that a person who commits a new offense would be banned from voting forever. The House can either agree to the Senate’s version or send the bill to a conference committee to work out the differences.

Just like last year’s North American dates, Drake’s future stops across Europe will see the Canadian artist decked out in custom gear from the iconic American fashion house. 

Designed by Calvin Klein creative director Italo Zucchelli, the new range contrasts last year‘s predominately blue hues with a more somber grey-based palette that includes sleeveless pullovers, denim jackets, graphic sweatshirts, jeans, and even a custom version of the “Obsession” sweatshirt from Klein’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection – complete with “Drake” emblazoned across the back.
