Lil Nas X Sued For $25 Million

The mission for the entertainment business was to stop Lil Nas X from entering into the Country music category, but this just takes the cake away from the young artist.

Lil Nas X is being sued over a song he released five months before he hit it big with "Old Town Road" and the company going after him is $25 million in damages.

The company then claims that in June of 2019, Sony acquired the rights to all of Lil Nas X's songs, including "Carry On." The Music Force claims that Sony "knew or should have known ... to make sure all elements of 'Carry On' had been cleared."

The Music Force is suing for copyright infringement and they are also asking for the court to rule that Lil Nas X's song is "a joint work" owned by The Music Force and the defendants. They are seeking $10 million in damages and then an additional $15 million in punitive damages.

How Eminem, Justin Bieber and More Helped Ed Sheeran to Dominate

Ed Sheeran has already broke multiple records during his career, but now he is getting major support from the Hip-hop community.

As his new album No.6 Collaborations Project debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with close to 200,000 equivalent units shifted, Ed Sheeran also grabs almost 10% of the spots on the Hot 100.

Up first for Sheeran is his collaboration with Justin Bieber, “I Don’t Care,” which this week bounces back to No. 3. The tune debuted and peaked in the runner-up spot earlier this year. The cut almost became another chart-topper for both musicians, but Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ record-breaking “Old Town Road” refused to budge.

Next among Ed Sheeran singles is “Beautiful People” with Khalid, which rises to a new peak of No. 19, entering the top 20 for the first time. Former single “Cross Me” with Chance the Rapper and PnB Rock lifts to No. 25, while “Antidote” with Travis Scott debuts at No. 37.

With his new charting hits, Ed Sheeran’s career total Hot 100 appearances now climbs to 37, and while that’s not one of the largest in history, it’s certainly impressive, especially for someone who is only four albums into their tenure as one of the world’s most popular superstars.

Should Lil Nas X Be Enlisted As A Country Artist?

Why is Lil Nas X finding it hard to gain acceptance in the world of mainstream country mirrors? Influential black artists found it difficult to get airplay on country radio.

Lil Nas X's viral country rap hit "Old Town Road" soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lil Nas X now has the ultimate revenge story as his song, "Old Town Road" which was pulled from Billboards country charts for not being country enough, is now the no.1 single in the country.

In a world where everything is racist, this goes to show how even the music industry has discrimination. Lil Nas X has introduced African Americans to a new sound of Country music which they have come to love.

Who am I to tell Billboard that "Old Town Road" is Country and deserves it's spot. Many blacks of today's generation didn't even know who Billy Ray Cirus was unless you talk about Miley Cirus.

We can now say that all cultures from hip-hop to country can now swing to a new tempo. Times are changing and I do believe that this may be the correct way to go. This vote this song even higher. Let it be known that more will come for its spot in country music billboards.

"Old Town Road" Remains At #1

It's safe to say that Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is the biggest hit of the year, and he recently showed off the streaming numbers to prove it. The hit song has five of the biggest streaming weeks in the U.S. this year.

The news comes as "Old Town Road," which features Billy Ray Cyrus, remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the sixth consecutive week. The song also returned to #1 on Digital Song Sales for a fourth week.

Last month, it was revealed that "Old Town Road" broke Drake's streaming record. Drake previously held the record for 116.2 million streams for "In My Feelings," which Lil Nas X smashed with 143 million streams for the week of April 20.
