How Music Is Life

Music has always been a part of my life. Without music, I probably would have gone crazy a long time ago. More than that, it has helped shape my personality and outlook on life. Music has taken me to places in my mind I didn’t know existed.

What It Mean to Have a Toxic Family

I decided to write this article about a toxic mom or family because of the situation I'm dealing with. The word ‘mother’ stands for affection, care, warmth, and positivity. But a toxic mother is the complete opposite of it. Instead of love, a toxic mother feeds lies, rebuke, ignorance, humiliation, and other negative traits to her child.

Is Beyoncé And Jay-Z Compatible?

Astrology seems to be a more popular topic than ever, as more and more people research what may happen in their futures and learn more about personality traits of their star sign. As The Atlantic noted, astrology never went away, but with the internet, it has become increasingly easier to look up zodiac signs. For example, the app Stardust is known for tracking women's menstrual cycles, as well as telling the user what's in store for them based on their star sign. Zodiac compatibility has also taken flight in popularity, as people determine whether or not they are compatible with their current (or future) significant others. This interest has also inspired us to look up the signs of celebrities — and their significant others.

Did Instagram Addiction Result in Eating Disorder

A California family is suing Meta, claiming Instagram is to blame for their teenage daughter’s eating disorder and mental health issues.

NBC News reports the lawsuit was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, by Kathleen and Jeffrey Spence on behalf of their daughter Alexis Spence. The lawsuit alleges Alexis, who began using Instagram at age 11, suffered from “anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, and, ultimately, suicidal ideation” after becoming addicted to the social media platform.

When Love Hurts

You have probably heard a lot of people say that “love hurts” — and we all tend to follow the crowd and believe that “love hurts” but this isn’t true.

I think Love is the most incredible thing in the world — but sometimes we become bitter, we blame love — we start losing hope in love. The worst part about the heartbreak is that we lose ourselves trying to hold on to that person who doesn’t care at all.

Mr. Forge Releases #NewMusic Titled "Paper Cuts" #NowPlaying @cosmicchicano

Following the release of his last single, "We Love You," Mr. Forge drops another joint with producer Ariano. The latest single "Paper Cuts" features dark cords and heavy bass, bringing out the raspy pain in every verse laid down by Mr. Forge. Despite the sadness and moodiness of the track laid bare in the understanding that while some relationships leave bruises and cuts, there is a hopeful resilience in the knowledge that you can't truly heal without unveiling the wounds.

Watch Method Man Verzuz Redman Live!

Method Man, the only rapper to appear on Notorious B.I.G. and 2 Pac albums while the two artists were alive, is primarily known for his music as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan (“Method Man”). In 1994, Method Man released the first of his six solo albums including “Tical,” a RIAA-certified platinum album, and “Tical 2000: Judgement Day.”

Standout tracks from those albums include “Bring the Pain,” “Judgement Day,” and “Break Ups 2 Make Ups,” featuring past Verzuz guest D’Angelo, and “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By,” Method Man’s duet — a wildly popular wedding song — with legendary R&B singer Mary J. Blige.

RZA Talks Second Chances and Cut Throat City Film

There calling him the leader of Wu-Tang Clan. RZA, or Bobby, as he is known to close friends and colleagues, had a particular way of putting beats to razer-sharp lyrics that made you feel part of a song’s creative process. Fans feel RZA’s music, both from Wu-Tang and his solo and collaborative efforts, on a cellular level.

An urban-bred intellectual who expresses through a mic or camera lens, RZA is considered prophetic to his community and perhaps a unicorn to mainstream culture. With a penchant for Eastern philosophy as is evident in the name Wu-Tang Clan and lyrical nods to Shaolin Kung Fu, RZA shared, “One thing I’m looking forward to doing in the near future… I’ve never been to India, and I have to check that one off,” referring to the top item on his bucket list. I recommended he connect with Indian author and yogi, Jaggi Vasudev, also known as Sadhguru, when he makes the trip. RZA is so well-read and well-versed, it felt novel giving him someone and something beyond his scope to Google.

RZA and GZA of Wu-Tang Talk 'The Game Of Life'

For as long as the two leaders of the Wu-Tang Clan have known each other, it still shocks GZA that he never played chess with RZA as a kid.

The pair are busy practicing this week for their Twitch debut on Saturday, where they will play and compete in a chess tournament hosted by Chess.com and Hennessy. It’s to benefit Black, Latinx and Asian small businesses struggling with the pandemic. GZA says he still remembers vividly to this day when his cousin taught his 9-year-old self how to play chess.

“I guess I remember it well because he had a black and red checkerboard, but the pieces were like clear plastic neon,” GZA tells The Washington Post in a video interview, who said he never forgot the lesson. “And they were weird colored, and they were caked in green. And he showed me the names of the pieces and how they moved.”

New Sneaker Subscription Service By Nike

Nike is hoping to help parents who don't live near a shoe store, so they don't have to drag the kids to try on shoes every few months to buy shoes that they outgrow every few months.

Nike launched a new sneaker subscription for kids aged two through ten, which is called Nike Adventure Club. The subscription is offered in three tiers: Four sneakers a year for $20 a month, six pairs for $30 a month or 12 pairs for $50 a month. Parents will be able to choose from around 100 sneakers.

Dave Cobban, general manager of Nike Adventure Club, addressed these problems, telling CNN Business, "We've discovered a huge pain point for parents around shopping for kids' shoe. This was a great opportunity to experiment with different solutions."

Why Ashanti And Ja Rule Had The Empire We All Wanted

Murder Inc. was the record label every company wanted to be. In the early 2000's you couldn't turn on your radio without hearing a Ja Rule and Ashanti song.

Hailing from Hollis, Queens, Ja Rule made his debut in 1999 with his first studio album Venni Vetti Vecci  lead by the single "Holla Holla." From 1999 to 2005, Ja Rule would reign as one of the top-selling hip-hop artists.

Ashanti was discovered as a teenager and signed to Murder Inc. in 2001. After generating buzz following her appearance on Big Pun's "How We Roll,"  she teamed up with Fat Joe and Ja Rule for the hit single, What's Luv?" In 2002, Ashanti released her self-titled album, Ashanti. The album sold over half a million copies within the first week.

In 2001, Ja Rule released his third studio album Pain Is Love. He teamed up with Caddillac Tah, Black Child, and Ashanti on the track "The Inc." While the album had some hit singles, "The Inc." fell short in creating the vibe of a gangsta crew that they were going for.

After the success of Ashanti's first self-titled album in 2002, she didn't wait long to release a follow-up album. Chapter II was released in 2003 and the hit singles, "Rain on Me," "Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)," and "Breakup 2 Makeup" were all on this album.

In 2002, Murder Inc. Records was a force to be reckoned with; the label was producing hit albums and singles under the direction of CEO Irv Gotti. Gotti released the compilation album Irv Gotti Presents: The Inc. The album featured songs from all the artists on the label. "Down 4 You," was the first single off the record and featured Ja Rule, Ashanti, Vita and Charlie Baltimore.

Ja released the remix to "The Pledge" featuring the Queens rapper,  Ashanti, and Tupac Shakur. As usual, Ashanti was on the hook adding her vocals to make the song catchy, and fans ate it up.

When "Always On Time" hit radio airwaves in 2001 it was an instant hit. The song paired with the video introduced fans to Ja Rule and Ashanti as a dynamic duo. The single was Ja Rule's first number 1 hit to top the Billboard Hot 100.
