What If R. Kelly Is Found Innocent?

It's been seven times the embattled singer has been arraigned on sexual abuse-related charges in a little more than a year.

The new indictment adds several allegations of abuse involving a victim referred to only as Jane Doe 5. Two of the new counts carry mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years in prison if convicted, according to prosecutors.

But what if R. Kelly is found innocent through all this or the case gets thrown out due to lack of evidence? Does this mean R. Kelly gets to sue the justice system along with the people who helped to bring him down?

Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez Pardoned By Trump

As one of his final acts as president of the United States, Donald Trump issued more than 140 pardons and commutations on Tuesday night (Jan. 19). Among those granted clemency were Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, early Death Row Records backer Michael "Harry-O" Harris and rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, according to the White House.

Perez was granted a full pardon for being involved in a conspiracy to distribute narcotics, the White House said, a conviction that is more than 25 years old. "Since her conviction, Ms. Perez has taken full accountability for her actions and has turned her life around," the White House said in a statement. "She has been gainfully employed and has been an advocate for criminal justice reform in her community."

"I'm grateful to have received a pardon and to have formally closed that chapter of my life in the eyes of the law," Perez said in a statement provided to Billboard. "I have taken full accountability for my mistakes from 25 years ago, but I also take tremendous pride in my personal growth, perseverance and accomplishments since then. This pardon reinforces my lifelong commitment to advocate for criminal justice reform and social justice initiatives."

Groom Attacks Wife

Have you ever asked how far you would go for a shot of booty? A bride’s fairytale wedding day ended in a nightmare beating. Amy Dawson said her groom attacked her on their wedding night because he couldn’t help her out of her white gown.

But even before the wedding, the British couple’s relationship was rocky. When 22-year-old Dawson became pregnant while they were dating, 29-year-old Golightly became abusive, she said. Still, they wed in West Rainton, England, last year. That night, they retired to their room, where Golightly tried to help Dawson out of her dress. When he couldn’t get the gown off his bride, he threw her on the ground and started punching her, she said.

ITT Technical Institute Shuts Down 130 Campuses

Nearly 40,000 students and most of the 8,000 employees from ITT Technical Institute campuses across 38 states faced bad news on Tuesday morning, [September 6] when ITT Educational Services Inc. announced that it is closing down each of its 130 locations, effective immediately.

News of the school's closure comes a month after the U.S. Department of Education ordered the for-profit operator to freeze enrollment of any new students who receive public dollars via federal aid. The company behind the institution had been under investigation by the Massachusetts Attorney General, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Securities and Exchange Commission, among a dozen other state and federal authorities accusing it of financial mismanagement.

ITT Tech was noted among for-profit schools, for incurring one of the largest pools of revenue, 80% of which came from Pell Grants and federal student loans. But it sinks with a for-profit college industry that has taken a hit in recent years, with the government cracking down on its recruitment tactics and heavily scrutinizing its funds. Such operators as DeVry Education Group and Apollo Education Group, have been forced to downsize as enrollment has dwindled, and the ability to secure financial backing has become increasingly difficult.

A.J. Calloway Under Investigation For Sexual Misconduct

It seems as if every star is under fire these days. Longtime Extra host A.J. Calloway has been suspended after several women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct.

The suspension comes months after THR first reported a claim of abuse against Calloway and as the publication has been preparing a new story with additional allegations. THR has reached out to an attorney for Calloway for comment on the suspension. The host previously has denied any wrongdoing.

Full Story

"Upon becoming aware of allegations of sexual misconduct against AJ Calloway, we began an internal review to determine whether there had been any misconduct by Mr. Calloway on Extra and whether any employee of the show had been the victim of any such misconduct."

Warner Bros. added, "In light of additional allegations brought to our attention, we are expanding our ongoing inquiries, and Mr. Calloway has been suspended pending further review. We take such allegations very seriously and are committed to doing everything we can to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace for all of our employees."

Subsequently, more accusers came forward in a Jan. 4 article published by The Daily Beast. In the wake of these allegations, Warner Bros. said the company had not received any complaints regarding Calloway.

How Lyft and Uber Is Killing The Taxi Industry

It's starting to get rare to see Taxi drivers on the road, but Uber and Lyft are starting to pop up every where. Why is that all of a sudden. Who would have ever thought that a App could change the way we get transportation?

Many taxi drivers worked part time or temporarily, like Uber drivers. In so many way's they are the same. As Uber and Lyft expand into Chicago, taxi drivers in the city are struggling to afford medallions as the number of riders drops.

The taxicab industry believes the playing field has so far not been level. With their limited capital investment in vehicles (drivers generally bring their own) and employees (the overwhelming majority of ride-share drivers are independent contractors without benefits), and so far limited regulation, the ride-share companies have severely damaged the traditional yellow cab industry.

Lyft matches drivers with passengers who request rides through our smartphone app, and passengers pay automatically through the app. Lyft provides additional insurance policies, at no cost to the driver.

Uber Technologies Inc. is a peer-to-peer ridesharing, taxi cab, food delivery, bicycle-sharing, and transportation network company. Its platforms can be accessed via its websites and mobile apps.

A taxicab, also known as a taxi or a cab, is a type of vehicle for hire with a driver, used by a single passenger or small group of passengers, often for a non-shared ride. A taxicab conveys passengers between locations of their choice. This differs from other modes of public transport where the pick-up and drop-off locations are determined by the service provider, not by the passenger.

150 More Jobs Added To Ohio

A $2.5-million expansion at Ridgeview Behavioral Hospital in Middlepoint, Ohio will nearly double the size of the facility and create an estimated 150 new jobs. The hospital will hold a groundbreaking for the 16,500-square-foot addition.

The 40-bed facility will have about 76 to 78 patient beds after the expansion. Ridgeview has a staff of 150 employees; with the expansion the hospital plans to expand this to 250 to 300. The hospital, which began seeing patients in May 2012, has tried to use local subcontractors and vendors for the construction as much as possible. Although the hospital was eligible for a tax abatement, it declined.

Ridgeview Hospital is a 40-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital that is committed to providing the highest quality of care to individuals dealing with mental health issues, or mental health issues with co-occurring chemical addictions. All three commissioners are enthusiastic about the project and believe an expansion of its size is promising in Van Wert County, said Van Wert County commissioners Chairman Todd Wolfrum, adding that Ridgeview is creating much needed, well-paying jobs for the residents of Van Wert County.

Bad Boy Records Closes

+Bad Boy Records has officialy closed its doors and moved to +Revoltt. This should come as no surprise Bad Boy Records apparently is closing its doors and moving to Revolt! In the 90s it was all about Bad Boy Records with The Notorious BIG, 112, Lil Kim, Total, Faith Evans, Craig Mack, Mase, Loon, G-Dep, Carl Thomas and many more, but those days are long gone and the golden era of hip hop has truly faded.

These days, Bad Boy Records has been less than impressive with lackluster artists and groups like Day 26, Danity Kane, Cassie, Diddy-Dirty Money and many more seen here in the artist graveyard or as Bad Boy would say, their Rooster. Bad Boy has always pumped out hits, but NOT like the 90s and many artists were thrown to the waste side after one or two albums.

Diddy has FIRED all his employees and sent the rest to the REVOLT. You may remember REVOLT is a new music network created by the mogul that is also rumored to be bumpy start and is still not in many cities yet. As for French Montana and Janelle Monae, they’ll be transferred over to Interscope Records.

Will R. Kelly's New Lawyer Get Him Acquitted?

R. Kelly’s new lawyer asked for an acquittal in his sex crimes case on Thursday, February 17, arguing that prosecutors were influenced by the Me Too movement in bringing charges that didn’t fit the allegations against him. Prosecutors were “invigorated by an influential social movement determined to punish centuries of male misbehavior through symbolic prosecutions of high-profile men,” Jennifer Bonjean, who successfully appealed Bill Cosby’s conviction, wrote in court filings.

$17 Million Awarded To Injured Woman At Walmart

A jury in West Virginia has returned a nearly $17 million verdict after a woman was injured when staffers tried to detain a shoplifter in Walmart.

A lawyer for 53-year-old Diane Ankrom says employees tried to detain the shoplifter when he ran into her shopping cart, in which she was pushing her granddaughter. Ankrom fell to the ground with the cart falling on top of her.

The jury found Walmart 30 percent responsible and the shoplifter 70 percent, though it's unclear how the money will be split.
