Young Thug appears in court after Atlanta arrest

 

The popular rapper Young Thug was arrested in Atlanta on Monday, and faces a slew of accusations from Fulton County's district attorney, including that he was allegedly a founder and active leader of the violent Young Slime Life street gang.

6LACK is back at it again with new #musicvideo “Nonchalant”

Over the dark and moody production, the Atlanta native reflects on his success, competition, and buzz. “I give a piece of me to everybody I meet / Not because they want it, it’s because its probably a need,” he raps. “Claim they woke but they probably asleep, in a cage / Thinking if they make a mil they be free like Meek, nah.”

After grappling with fame on “Switch,” 6LACK is feeling “Nonchalant” on his latest single.

6LACK is prepping for the release of his sophomore album East Atlanta Love Letter, the follow-up to his 2016 debut FREE 6LACK, which he describes as “a sonic love letter written to his friends and family at home, significant other, past significant others, and most importantly his fans.”

Ralo‘s apartment was raided by the FBI

Atlanta rapper Ralo‘s apartment was raided by the FBI on Thursday for reasons that are not yet being publicly released. Ralo was not home at the time of the raid, because he was in jail in Dekalb County for a criminal conspiracy charge.

Young Thug Being Sued

A California limo service claims Young Thug stiffed them on the bill and they want him to pay up. The company is now suing for the full amount of $18,676.

Hollywood Stars Limousines has filed a lawsuit against the Atlanta rapper for allegedly failing to pay a $18,676 bill, according to TMZ.  In the court docs, the company claims they chauffeured Thugger and his crew around for a total of 11 times during the summer, and he still hasn't paid his bill despite them giving him "plenty of time" to do so; he instead refused to hand over the money.

The news of the suit comes just a week after Young Thug was arrested at an Atlanta mall after an officer recognized him and remembered he missed a court date for his car's tinted windows.  He was later released on $500 bond and posted a since-deleted Instagram video in which he claimed to be “bigger than the law.”

Waka Flocka Arrested

Rumors are that rapper +Waka Flocka has been arrested at an atlanta airport for having a handgun in his bag. Waka didn’t have a permit, so he was arrested and charged with Carrying a Weapon in a Prohibited Place. He was taken to Clayton County jail.

Waka’s rep, Debra Antney, says it was all a big mistake. He accidentally grabbed his fiance’s bag — which contained the gun. She explains they’re in the process of moving and all their stuff got mixed up in the move, which is how the gun ended up in the bag.

Joking about Ebola is the newest way to get yourself in trouble at the airport, but bringing a gun through security is the classic way as Waka Flocka Flame learned on Friday morning. Flame was busted at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when a security scan turned up a loaded handgun in his bag.

What Happened To Lil Jon And Crunk Music?

Was Lil Jon the last of "Crunk Music?" This was a time in rap music that had a big and short impact on the community.

The Atlanta-based rap group that would become Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz was originally formed in 1997. Lil Jon was the lead vocalist for the group Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz from 1997 to 2004.

The group signed to Atlanta’s Mirror Image Records, and in 1997, released their first album, distributed by Ichiban Records. A couple years later, Lil Jon & his Boyz started BME Recordings, and released their sophomore album.

Not long after, Bryan Leach heard from his street teams that Lil Jon was an artist to watch. He went to a show, and was immediately impressed. Comparing Lil Jon’s stage presence to the Beastie Boys, Leach immediately tried to sign the group to TVT Records. He succeeded, and in 2001 released Put Yo Hood Up.

Shawty Lo Killed

Atlanta rapper Carlos Walker aka Shawty Lo was killed in a car accident early this morning.  Shawty's car was hit by another vehicle on I-285 at Cascade Rd, hit two trees and then caught on fire.  During the accident, Lo was ejected from the car.  Two other people in the car were injured and sent to the hospital.

Shawty Lo was the founder of D4L along with Fabo, Stoney and Mook-B.  The group released the #1 hit single "Laffy Taffy" and "Betcha Can't Do It Like Me" which eventually earned them a gold album.  "Laffy Taffy" became the poster child for Atlanta's "Snap Music" scene which helped launch the careers of Soulja Boy, Yung Joc and Dem Franchize Boys.

Lo went on to launch the independent record label D4L ("Down for Life") and released the solo hit song "Dey Know" which earned him "Track of the Year" and "Rookie of the Year" trophies at the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards.  His singles "Dunn Dunn", "Foolish" and "Supplier" also cracked the charts.  His debut album "Units In The City" debuted at #2 on the Rap Album Chart.

What Happened to Jagged Edge?

 

Jagged Edge is an American R&B group from Atlanta, Georgia. The group, initially signed to record producer Jermaine Dupri's So So Def Recordings. Born out of church choirs, Jagged Edge was formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1995.

Jagged Edge parted ways with Columbia Records shortly after the release of their self-titled fifth album and signed back with Dupri. Dupri re-signed the group to So So Def through Island Def Jam, which handles the distribution for So So Def, and where Dupri was president of the urban division.

Benzino Shot

Rumors are that “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star Benzino was shot by his nephew Gai Scott, 36, during his mother’s funeral procession. Scott was arrested by Plymouth police and charged with assault with intent to murder.

He was rushed to South Shore Hospital with non-fatal injuries and listed in critical condition. Benzino’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” castmate Stevie J. posted pictures of his visit to the hospital. Benzino is reportedly in stable condition.

Benzino has been expressing his grief at his mother’s passing for the last week on social media, receiving support from his friends and castmates, including Stevie J. According to various sources, a fight broke out between family members and Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, was shot three times by his nephew en route to the funeral service in Duxbury, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. One Twitter user posted the following picture of a hearse with police tape around it:

Two of New York’s finest hip-hop acts are coming together for a collaborative tour. On Tuesday (April 19), the Wu-Tang Clan and Nas announced their New York State Of Mind Tour.

Produced by Live Nation, the 25-stop event begins Tuesday, Aug 30 in St. Louis, Missouri and will continue through major cities across North America including Toronto, D.C., Raleigh, Atlanta, Houston, and Oakland, before wrapping up Tuesday, October 4 in Los Angles, California.
