FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Snotty Nose Rez Kids
As the first Indigenous group to win a JUNO Award for Rap Album/EP of the Year (2025), the Snotty Nose Rez Kids are a First Nations hip hop duo composed of Haisla rappers Darren "Young D" Metz and Quinton "Yung Trybez" Nyce who are originally from Kitamaat Village, British Columbia. In 2023, they signed with Sony Music Entertainment Canada and released their sixth studio album—and first major label debut—RED FUTURE in 2024. Following the release of RED FUTURE, the duo embarked on a 35-city North American tour. Known for their high energy and electrifying performances, they played over 70 shows last year across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Australia, the UK, and the Netherlands. Their live presence has also led to performances at major sporting events, including games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Toronto Raptors. Celebrated for their artistry and impact, they have earned six JUNO Award nominations, four Polaris Prize Shortlist placements, and a SOCAN Award among many other accolades.
Shub
For over a decade, Shub (formerly known as DJ Shub) has been at the forefront of a movement that reshaped the landscape of Indigenous electronic music. A trailblazer who coined the powwow-step genre and a former member of the JUNO-winning A Tribe Called Red, Shub has spent years blending the ancient rhythms of powwow music with the pulse of modern beats, scratching, and bass-heavy production. With a new name and vision, Shub is stepping beyond the DJ booth—emerging as a composer, storyteller, and renowned artist.

What Happened To Lil Flip?
Texas had a big impact on the music scene in the mid 2000's and Lil Flip was a big part of the movement. Lil’ Flip these days is perhaps most well known for his feud with fellow rapper T.I.
Flip started rapping for Suckafree Records out of Houston, Texas, when he was 18, in 1999. He released his first album, The Leprechaun, the next year. Eventually selling more than 200,000 copies, it featured the hit single “I Can Do Dat.”
The single, “The Way We Ball,” helped propel Lil’ Flip into the national spotlight. The rapper was also able to work with Yung Wun, Ludacris, and Three 6 Mafia that year. This gave him the clout necessary to create U Gotta Feel Me, a double-disc album released in 2004, distributed by Sony Urban Music.
Lil Flip went on to start his own record label, which he named Clover G Records, after Cloverland, Lil’ Flip’s home neighborhood in Houston.
While T.I. was incarcerated for parole violations, Lil’ Flip used the opportunity to object to T.I. calling himself “King of the South.” The heavily publicized feud led to T.I. going to Cloverland, to expose Lil’ Flip as a fraud. When T.I. arrived in the neighborhood with his crew, Lil’ Flip approached him with his respective crew.

#Stream Rich Forbez "Who Is Rich Forbez" #Album on #Itunes @RichForbez
Lima, Ohio producer/artist Rich Forbez formally known as Yung City has released his debut album "Who Is Rich Forbez."
The eleven track EP comes crammed packed with hit songs for both the streets and the ladies. Presented by Strarlife Music Group, this is one album you don't want to miss out on.
In Rich Forbez own words: "The motivation behind this album was life it’s itself. This album was a form of therapy that help me get to a brighter place after coming out of a heavy dark muddy funk and a heart break."
Community members of Lima always asked Fobez why was he still living in the city? Why he never left to go to the big city? And his response was: "Based off my confidence people wouldn’t know that I was actually nervous as shit to put my music out there to be judged. Also I felt over the years I’ve put myself on the back burner artist wise to service other artist in the area like shooting/editing music videos and running a recording studio while quietly working and perfecting my craft. I eventually got fed up if being asked the question and took action and stop over thinking my process and just went with my first ideas the beats told me to do. In that time I realized that only I was holding myself back from the world."
