A man shot and killed his wife and their 8-year-old son at a gas station and then turned the gun on himself in Varnell, Ga. Thursday night. The woman, Melissa Ball, pulled into a joint Shell station and McDonald’s around 7 p.m. with her son Grayden Whitmore in the backseat, police said.
Her husband Christopher Whitmore pulled up to them at a gas pump, shot his son in the car with a handgun, shot Ball and then killed himself, WTVC reported. Police said Ball and Whitmore had a history of domestic issues and were separated, but it’s unclear what motivated the horrifying shooting, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.
