A Yonkers man apparently collecting bottles and cans became trapped in an apartment building‘s 2-foot wide trash chute for around an hour late Tuesday night before he was freed. Only two bare feet belonging to the unidentified 58-year-old could be seen hanging out of the chute when help finally arrived, a photo provided by News12 showed.
Police said the man was reaching into the first-floor dumpster when a garbage bag falling from an above floor knocked him in head first. His desperate cries for help were what alerted a nearby resident who contacted building security to investigate. Authorities said the man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for inspection but said that he was not seriously hurt.
