Separate The Real From The Fake

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) It seems easier said than done but at some time in our lifetime we must separate the real friends from the fake ones. Finding a good mentor is a smart way to stay on track as your pursue your goals in life. And just as important, having a good role model will keep you inspired through your toughest challenges.

More often than not, the real role models are in our schools, not on the football field, up on the movie screen, or singing at concerts. In my mind, schoolteachers are the true stars of our society. The people selling drugs had money and power, and this was what the students respected.

Role models should also be individuals who demonstrate qualities that contribute to good character development, who have a strong sense of integrity, and who believe that success is more than just what is in your bank account, that what matters is what is inside you as a person.

Free Yourself

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Are you one of those kids who are tired of getting picked on or fingers pointed at saying your doing this and doing that? Instead of feeling down, pick your head up and try to find a way out of your rut. “From this instant on, vow to stop disappointing yourself. Separate yourself from the mob. Decide to be extraordinary and do what you need to do.

Have you recently felt guilty for something you didn’t do? Perhaps, feeling guilty for not replying to emails? Guilty for not reaching all your goals for the day? Stop worrying about what other people think and commit to it as a way of life. While hanging onto your morale compass, free yourself from being consumed.

Keep Educating Yourself

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Knowledge is power and education is the key. You can educate yourself or go to college. For many young people, earning a college degree is the logical first step on the path to a successful career. Keep a open mind and look for distractions.

Read lots of books. When you think you can read at a higher grade level, start reading harder books. After all the reading, you should have learned something. Use the Internet. The Internet has a lot of useful websites, and some not very useful ones to. Use only the reliable websites to learn as much as you can. Self-directed learning is one solution to the college debate.

All education is self-education. Period. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting in a college classroom or a coffee shop. We don’t learn anything we don’t want to learn. Can you educate yourself? Of course you can. It requires a willingness to learn, the self discipline to stay focused and do what you have to do.

Count Your Blessings

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) When you feeling down and out like no-one loves you, think about the blessings you have gotten to help settle you down. Most people seem to think alot about the bad things in their life. Be with those who make you laugh. Love without holding back. Don't wait to count the blessings in your life.

Be grateful for small things, big things, and everything in between. Count your blessings, not your problems. Focus on your priorities, but take things in stride. Make decisions, not excuses. Live one moment at a time. Count your blessings, not your troubles. Let the wrong things go. Look for lessons in unforeseen obstacles. Ask for help. Give as much as you take. Make time for those who matter. Laugh when you can. Cry when you need to. And always stay true to your values.

Life is very short to argue and fight. Count your blessings, value your friends and move on with your head held high and a smile for everyone. Life isn't a choice or an obligation, its a gift, so embrace it as much as you can. You never know how much time you have left in life.

The little things in life make all the difference. A bad day can turn into a good day with just one smile. Even when you feel as though things aren't going well in your life, you have reasons to be grateful. Today, take time to appreciate the gift of life and all its wonders. Count your blessings and cherish what you have.

Inmate Found Decapitated

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) A North Carolina inmate who escaped prison using a toothbrush shank was found decapitated two weeks after escaping. Kelvin Singleton’s headless body was discovered April 7 by a hunter walking through the woods in Bertie County, 15 miles from the Chowan County Detention Center. He was naked and his body was partly decomposed.

Authorities identified the body on Tuesday, and were still searching for the escaped inmate’s missing head. The beheading remains a mystery to investigators. Singleton’s headless body had been in the open field near Ashland Church Road for about a week. Singleton escaped on March 29, after he carved a shank out of a toothbrush and forced a guard to release him.

The 26-year-old had been behind bars for robbing an Edenton tobacco store at gunpoint and speeding off in the clerk’s car in January, police said. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, attempted kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle.

Kendrick Lamar Sued

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Kendrick Lamar and his label Top Dawg Music are being sued for a Bill Withers sample used in the Compton rapper’s song “I Do This” off 2013’s Kendrick Lamar EP mixtape, according to a lawsuit obtained by Billboard.

George Karl Fired

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Divac had pushed to make a coaching change in February before Kings minority owners, according to league sources, scuttled the move, citing financial concerns and other factors. But sources said this week that Divac insisted on the change at season’s end as part of his recent contract‎ extension and will now commission a deliberate, broad search in which he hopes to speak to several candidates.

Karl also nearly lost his job in November after a public dispute with center DeMarcus Cousins.
“While I would have loved to continue on this journey, I am very proud of our work and I want to thank Kings management for the opportunity to have coached this exciting team with such a bright future,” Karl said Thursday in a statement. “It’s my heartfelt feeling that the magnificent new arena will be hosting many playoff runs and an eventual championship, which the Sacramento fans, some of the most loyal and supportive people I’ve ever known in my many years in the NBA, very much deserve.

“With a profound humility, moving forward, I wish nothing but the best for this franchise and its players.”

NBA coaching sources told ESPN that Kevin McHale, Mark Jackson, Vinny Del Negro and Nate McMillan are among the names Sacramento is considering for its coaching job. The Kings, sources told Stein, also have strong interest in Tom Thibodeau and Scott Brooks but concede that competition for those two will be fierce.

Kobe Bryant Sets New Record

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) According to ESPN, the average fan inside the arena spent $61 USD on merchandise, with the average bill totaling $230 USD. Limited edition lambskin and Italian cashmere hats from the Lakers’ high-end “24 Collection” — which 2 Chainz previewed here and were priced at $38,024 USD and $24,008 USD respectively — sold well, with only three out of a total 16 units left at the end of the night.

All pins, coins and jerseys also sold out by the end of the night, including an $824 USD jersey limited to 248 units. Only three of 24 Swarovski crystal-embedded leather jackets remained unsold, with the retail price of $5,824 USD.
