Missy Elliott Talks Her Return To Music

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Considering Missy Elliott had been away from the music scene for the past couple years, fans are hoping that the release of her newest single “WTF” and upcoming album means this comeback is a long term thing. Everyone is happy Missy is back, but as far as her musical hiatus goes, the rapper simply said she “needed a break.”

Missy left fans hanging after releasing two very low-key tracks with partner Timbaland in 2012. She re-emerged again, joining Katy Perry on the halftime stage at the the 2015 Super Bowl. And after her surprise performance, there were even rumors of new works coming soon. Now it’s clear those rumors were in fact truth. This month the artist dropped a new single, video, and announced the release of her upcoming project.

And she opened up to i-D magazine concerning her comeback, new single and the pressures of coming back better than ever. She also reveals that we should be giving a shout out to Pharrell for her long awaited return. Check out excerpts from Missy’s interview with i-D.

Steve Harvey Being Sued

A Nashville-based private jet company is suing Steve Harvey for $200,000, saying the Family Feud host failed to pay for pricey alterations they had made to the jet. The suit alleges that Harvey paid half of the amount due for the alterations before ultimately deciding that he did not want to lease the plane, and now the company is suing for the other half of the money owed them, a sum of around $205,000.

According to the suit, filed Wednesday by Business Aircraft Leasing Inc, Harvey had “orally promised” to lease the jet for $97,000 per month and had also agreed to a price of $400,000 for customization, reports the NY Daily News. The redesign included custom carpet and seating as well as changing the cabin seating from 16 to 14 seats.

Wanting The Finer Things In Life

We hope everybody want to have a piece of the American Dream. Although the “finer things in life” are often associated with material items, even love can be fitted into the section. Does appreciating the finer things in life mean “ I know what is good and what is bad. We must live while we can. We'll drink to our cup of laughter.

White Actor Will Play Martin Luther King Jr

The casting of a white actor as Martin Luther King in an Ohio university production of Katori Hall’s acclaimed play The Mountaintop was “a disservice to not just Dr King but an entire community”, the playwright has said.

“I didn’t want this to be a stunt, but a true exploration of King’s wish that we all be judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin,” Oatman said. “I wanted the contrast … I wanted to see how the words rang differently or indeed the same, coming from two different actors, with two different racial backgrounds.”

Oatman did not respond to a request for comment, but Hall said she had a respectful phone call with the director about a month after he staged the play at the university’s Department of Pan-African Studies’ African Community Theatre from late September to early October.

“I feel as though a lot of theatermakers were a bit appalled at the choice that the director made – and that it was supported so wholeheartedly by the institution,” Hall said. “So it was really a moment to talk about playwright intention, but to then, beyond that, talk about much bigger issues, about not only being a black artist but also being a black person in America.”
