Joe McKnight Shot And Killed

Ronald Gasser and McKnight's vehicle were stopped side-by-side at an intersection where they reportedly got into an argument. A witness told the Times-Picayune that she saw a man yelling at another man, who was trying to apologize. McKnight was shot multiple times. The witness added that the shooter shot McKnight, stood over him and said, "I told you don't f*** with me."  He then fired again.

“At approximately 2:43 p.m. today we received a call of a shooting that occurred here at Holmes and Behrman Highway,” Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said. “Our officers arrived on the scene and immediately began giving CPR to an individual who was shot, lying on the ground, with EMS and others assisting at this location."

McKnight died of his wounds; he was just 28-years old. Normand says Gasser stayed at the scene and gave his gun to responding officers. Gasser was taken into custody and is being questioned. Sheriff's spokesman Col. John Fortunato says they're anticipating charging Gasser, but it's unclear what he will be charged with.

McKnight is a native of Kenner, Louisiana, and a former John Curtis High School football standout. He played for the University of Southern California, the New York Jets, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

McKnight is the second NFL player this year to die as a result of a possible road-rage incident. The trial is set to begin Monday for Cardell Hayes, who's accused of shooting and killing former New Orleans Saint Will Smith, as well as shooting and injuring his wife in the Garden District in April after a traffic crash and subsequent altercation.

Drake Sends Lil Wayne A Message

Lil Wayne celebrated his 34th birthday on Tuesday [September 27], and as might be expected for one of the most celebrated artists in music, he received a lot of birthday love, with everyone from his ex-wife, Toya Wright, to estranged mentor Birdman honoring him on social media. He also received a deep shout out from Young Money titan Drake, who gave the legendary New Orleans rapper credit for helping spawn his career.

“Everything I got is because of God and you,” Drake wrote via Instagram. “Happy birthday to my brother. Thanks for believing in all of us when you didn’t have to. YM we still alive Free C5.”

Fans might note that Drake closed his message by calling for the release of Tha Carter V. The world might not have to wait too much longer before Cash Money Records puts the long awaited album out, as a recent court ruling got the ball rolling in the direction of resolving Wayne and Birdman's bitter legal dispute. The Cash Money mogul was given a month to hand over a full record detailing how the $70 million Wayne was promised a share of was spent after a judge determined that the 22,000 pages of documents previously released were insufficient. While the judgement proved to be a set-back for Birdman, it didn't keep him from wishing Wayne a happy birthday, as he went about flooding his Instagram page with blessings for the man he's long referred to as his son.

Birdman And Mannie Fresh Reunites

It has been over a decade since Birdman and Mannie Fresh split after a legendary run together as the executive + producer team behind Cash Money Records' rise in the rap game. But come October 7, they will have officially put their long estrangement behind them, as the duo announced a Big Tymers reunion show that will mark Fresh's return to the label.

Holding down the exclusive role as in-house producer of Cash Money since 1993, Mannie Fresh was almost solely responsible for the production work behind the Hot Boys albums that put New Orleans rap on the map. He would also compose the solo projects of members Juvenile, BG, Turk and Lil Wayne, before forming the Big Tymers tandem with the label head himself. But in 2005 a royalties dispute spelled the end of his relationship with Birdman, and the two went their separate ways.

News of the group's restoration comes on the heels of the label's deal to release a documentary titled, "The Cash Money Story: Before Anythang," through Apple Music. On Friday, September 2, tickets went on sale for fans interested in seeing the Big Tymers perform hits off of their 5 album catalog, at the New Orleans' House of Blues. The show promises to feature special guest appearances, and with such a nostalgic Cash Money Films project abound, Birdman just may make a push to bring other members of the original Cash Money camp back into the fold.

Darren Sharper Sentenced To 18 Years

Former NFL All-Decade Team Safety Darren Sharper was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Thursday, August 18. The 40-year-old fallen star was handed down the judgement following U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo's rejection of a plea deal that would have allowed for the Virginia native's release after nine years. Sharper plead guilty to conspiracy and distribution of Alprazolam, Diazepam, and Zolpidem with the intent to commit rape, back in March of 2015.

The charges that lead to a conviction stem from up to 16 women coming forward to accuse Sharper of drugging, and in some cases, sexting them on separate occasions between October 2013 and January 2014. Before Sharper admitted to the crimes, prosecutors were primed to go to court with the case, having discovered a trail of incidents across Arizona, Nevada, Louisiana, and California. "They didn't deserve anything being a part of my heinous decisions," Sharper cried, having just learned of his fate for the next two decades. "I still don't know why I lived my life right for 38 years, and then I took this path."

Through 14 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints between 1997 and 2010, Sharper established himself as one of the best defensive players in the game. He was a Super Bowl champion [2010] and a 5-time Pro Bowler, who at the time of his retirement held firm at number six on the all-time interceptions list. In 2016, Sharper made the Hall of Fame ballot. It remains to be seen whether the committee will at some point elect to vote him into the Hall, considering the fact that off-field behavior is not supposed to be taken into account in the process.

C-Murder New Music Video

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) C-Murder, also known as Corey Miller, released a video “Dear Supreme Court/Under Pressure” last week. The Louisiana rapper serving life in prison for killing a 16-year-old boy is appealing to the state’s Supreme Court for help — through his music.

The 45-year-old rapper proclaimed his innocence in the video and asked the state’s high court to release him, even though he has been convicted twice for the slaying. Prison officials are looking into whether the rapper recorded music while in the Angola prison. C-Murder told prison officials that any material released by his record company was recorded before he was jailed, but he refused to take a polygraph test.

The rapper recorded all of the vocals on the album while under house arrest several years ago, according to his manager, Manuel Ortiz. “He had a studio at his home,” he said. “He has recorded an ungodly amount of unreleased music.”

C-Murder was first found guilty in 2003 for shooting teen Steve Thomas during a brawl at a nightclub just outside of New Orleans. A state district judge later ruled prosecutors withheld information about the criminal background of a witness, and ordered a new trial. C-Murder was convicted again for the same crime in 2009.

Miller proclaims his innocence and asks the state’s high court to release him, charging that his two trials were rigged. He claims in the video that he ended up in prison because “a judge wanted a better job than what he had, because detectives wanted a raise and a slap on the back.”

"It was no doubt about that, [that] him and Suge would probably work it out." He told DJ Vlad, "One thing about P, he's not into the foolishness either, he's like a straight forward."

Young Thug Changes Album Title

I still lost all respect for +Young Thugga only due to the fact of whats going on with +Birdman and +Lil Wayne. Young Thug has renamed his upcoming album to the Barter 6. In addition to switching the title, Thugga took to Instagram to announce that his first show, following the album’s release, will be in Hollygrove, Louisiana.

Young Thug is referring to the same Hollygrove neighborhood in New Orleans, Lil Wayne and Mack Maine grew up in. “YSL Carter 6 coming out Friday. First show, New Orleans, Hollygrove fuck nigga, meet me there, better yet beat me there,” Thug says in a new Instagram video, as two men stand behind him waving firearms. Just a few days later, Thug uploaded a video to Instagram that features various clips of him performing while a woman narrates what seems to be shots at Wayne and his imprint.

The “New Atlanta” rapper has been using his Instagram account to fuel his feud with Lil Wayne. After Wayne urged fans to “stop listening to songs of niggas who pose naked on their motherfucking album covers,” Thug responded by saying, “I understand that Lil Wayne is frustrated about his career and I feel him on that, but this is my idol. I would never in my life swap words with him or beef with him about nothing. This is a person that I look up to. Ha Ha.”

Randy Phillips Launches Global Entertainment

Congrads to former CEO of +Aeg Live +Randy Phillips on the launch of his new global entertainment business. Former AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips has been tapped as CEO of Global Entertainment, a newly-launched U.S. division for London-based Global, the Media and Entertainment Group. The multifaceted, “360″-styled content company will include touring, label, publishing, artist management, branding/sponsorships and marketing divisions, with new headquarters based in Los Angeles and a London office.

Touting a “real 360 content creation company that genuinely offers a vast array of services to artists, combined with Global’s financial commitment,” Phillips believes the Global model is the way of the future. “I believe that within three to five years, all of the major labels that exist will look like Global,” he tells Billboard.

Global Radio is the U.K.’s largest commercial radio company, with national stations in every genre. Global founder/executive president Ashley Tabor has used this base to create an entertainment company that now includes Global Television and Global Publishing (Ellie Goulding, Corinne Bailey Rae, LMFAO), with the latter to be part of the Global Entertainment U.S. division under Phillips.

Phillips comes to Global Entertainment after 13 years as CEO at AEG Live, where he promoted world tours by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Rod Stewart, and Prince. He oversaw the expansion of AEG Live’s Festival Division (Coachella, Stagecoach, New Orleans Jazzfest) and produced films featuring Michael Jackson, Bieber and Katy Perry. In his diverse music-biz career, Phillips also managed or co-managed Stewart, Toni Braxton, Lionel Richie and Usher, and, with former partner Arnold Steifel, launched the Gasoline Alley imprint in a joint venture with MCA.

Phillips became a major player on a global stage at AEG Live, overseeing a network of regional offices and working with such ongoing subsidiaries as Goldenvoice, Concerts West, and TMG-AEG Live. Virtually out of the gate, AEG became a global touring deal competitor to Live Nation (albeit on a significantly smaller scale), with creative marketing and promotion for a wide range of touring clients. Phillips left AEG Live amid massive restructuring at the firm following the resignation of former AEG CEO Tim Lieweke, with his departure coming in a year where the firm reported best-ever Boxscore grosses totaling $1.1 billion.

Since his exit from AEG Live, the typically outspoken, highly visible Phillips has been noticeably absent from the music scene. He tells Billboard he actually signed his deal with Global on April 1 of last year, and has spent the interim fine-tuning the model and building a roster of executive talent. “Doing a startup is different than stepping into an existing job,” Phillips says, pointing out that he has launched similar ground-up businesses in AEG Live and Gasoline Alley. “Building a business from scratch is like putting together a puzzle, the pieces all have to fit. You can’t just hire people because they have great resumes, they have to be able to work with the other people you bring in.”

In that regard, Phillips has hired a team of industry pros, including executive vp/chief financial officer Chuck Ciongoli, formally of Universal music; longtime Phillips associate David Loeffler as chief creative officer; and business affairs executive Rand Hoffman. In addition, executive vice president and urban music head Garnett March brings in his own multi-faceted joint venture entertainment company in Global/The Chemists, which steers the career of Anthony Lewis. Other senior executives are also already in place, and will be announced shortly.

In the U.K., Global boasts national radio stations in virtually every genre: Capital FM (Top 40), Capital Xtra (Urban/Rhythm), Heart (Hot Adult Contemporary), XFM (Alternative), Gold (oldies), Smooth Radio (adult contemporary), Classic FM (classical) and LBC (news/talk).  Tabor has used this base to create an entertainment company that now includes Global Television (the UK national Capital and Heart video music networks) and Global Publishing, now under the Global Entertainment umbrella.

While no Global Entertainment tours or events have been announced yet, it appears the firm is positioned to compete–or partner–with Live Nation and AEG as a tour producer and promoter on a global level. Sources cited several projects in the works, and while Phillips declines to elaborate, he tells Billboard, “It’s a new age we live in. There are no absolutes any more. They always say politics breeds strange bedfellows, well, business really does.”

In addition to Tabor, Global is led by Group CEO Stephen Miron, COO Ian Hanson, and director of broadcasting Richard Park. It is chaired by Lord Allen of Kensington.

Top 5 Most Stressed Out Cities

The Wrap-Up Magazine did its own survey on the top 5 stressed out cities in America. This is a survey done by recent cities visited in my lifetime. Take a look at what came out of my road travels in The United States.

1. Detroit
Detroit's historic bankruptcy isn't the only thing stressing Motor City's residents out. Murder and property crime are prevalent in this troubled city, which has had its police force slashed in the past decade for Detroit.

Many residents are also struggling to make ends meet. The metro division's unemployment rate is hovering around 9%, several percentage points higher than the national average. Meanwhile, more than a quarter of Detroit's residents live below the poverty line.

2. Houston

Known for its many oil jobs, Houston, Texas is the place which you can require 80-plus hour weeks in the oilfields. The metro area has the longest average workweek of all 55 places. Getting to work can also be a major frustration due to traffic congestion. Houston's massive sprawl means that residents are often forced to brave the roads.

Blame it on the booming economy. Close to 400,000 jobs have been added to the area in the past four years, said Patrick Jankowski, vice president of research at the Greater Houston Partnership.

Brutal winters aren't the only thing raising Chicago residents' stress levels. The unemployment rate is still above the national average. Rush hour traffic is a pain. And with sunny days occurring around half of the year, residents don't often get the mood boost that the sun's rays can provide.

Chicagoans aren't exactly living the healthiest lifestyles. Binge drinking is common here, as is smoking -- and nearly 20% report they are in fair or poor health, according to a Centers for Disease Control survey.

In New Orleans, Crime is rampant: The city has battled the notorious moniker of "Murder City," with a murder rate consistently among the nation's highest. On the bright side, it's cheaper to live here thanks to below-average living costs. The median home price, for example, is around $160,000.

Health concerns are also weighing on many residents. Almost a quarter of people surveyed by the CDC reported they were in fair or poor health. Smoking and lack of exercise are also common.

5. Memphis
There can be a lot to sing the blues about in Memphis. Crime is rampant here, with a murder rate that trails only Detroit and New Orleans. Around 20% of the metro area's residents live below the poverty line.
