Dad Kills Son

An elderly Minnesota father fatally shot his son during a dispute over installing cable in the family home, then held a SWAT team at bay during an hours-long standoff. During the argument, Chue Vang — who owned the home and shared it with his parents and four siblings — told his father he could move out if he didn’t like the rules.

Pang Vang barricaded himself in his bedroom, according to court records, and when Chue Vang opened the door, his father blasted him once in the chest. A relative grabbed the rifle from the dad, a former member of the Laotian military, as family members fled the home and called the cops.

Pang Vang refused to come out of the home, prompting a two-hour standoff. When officers finally found the man, he was bleeding from the neck and chest from self-inflicted stab wounds. Pang Vang was hospitalized in critical condition before being booked into county jail early Wednesday. He’s charged with second-degree murder.

Two Jumps In River And Dies

Ken Hoang, 26, of St. Paul Minnesota was taking a photo of the river with his cellphone when he dropped it onto the ice, his brother told the Chicago Tribune. He stepped down to retrieve the phone, but fell in the water while doing so. The 21-year-old woman and the 23-year-old man that he was with stepped onto the ice to try to help him, but they fell in as well.

One man is dead and one missing woman is presumed dead and a third man is in stable condition after they fell into the Chicago River. The woman was still missing after Monday night and is presumed dead, the Tribune states.
