Jay-Z Sells Off One Bottle Of D’usse

 

Jay-Z’s auction of a rare bottle of his D’usse Cognac raked in mid-five figures during an auction with Sotheby’s.

The Roc Nation honcho sold off a luxury D’usse 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition bottle for $52,500 to raise funds to support professional advancement and entrepreneurship workshops for students.

The decades-old cognac has a 24-karat gold foil around the neck, a diamond decanter design encased in a leather box. This particular bottle of D’usse was even rarer because it was engraved with Jay-Z’s signature.

Yo Gotti Sues Car Dealership

Gotti is the one doling out the scrutiny now though, with the rapper seeking restitution from the dealership that massively mishandled his ride. Yo Gotti may be in need of some cheering up, perhaps in the form of a revealing DM or snap, as TMZ is reporting that the rappers $409,000 Lamborghini Aventador was wrecked by an employee at the dealership meant to repair it.

Shawn Marion Signs With Cavaliers

+Shawn Marion has just struck a deal with the +Cleveland Cavaliers. Free-agent forward Shawn Marion has committed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to league sources. Sources told ESPN.com that Marion informed the Cavaliers this weekend that he intends to sign with them this month, despite the fact that Cleveland can only offer him a minimum deal.

The chance to play with LeBron James and immediately compete for a championship, sources said, clinched Marion’s decision to choose Cleveland in the face of a ramped-up pursuit by the Indiana Pacers. As ESPN.com reported earlier this week, Pacers president Larry Bird invited Marion to Indianapolis earlier this week for a face-to-face recruiting pitch over dinner, with Indiana in desperate need of veteran help on the wing after the season-ending compound leg fracture suffered by star swingman Paul George on Aug. 1

The Cavaliers have widely been considered to be the front-runners to sign Marion since it emerged that they’re poised to complete a trade for Minnesota’s Kevin Love later this month. Cleveland is restricted to offering Marion a minimum salary of $1.4 million this season after using all of its cap resources and exceptions elsewhere.

The Pacers confirmed this week that they’ve already been granted a $5.3 million disabled player exception by the league in the wake of George’s season-ending injury suffered on Team USA duty, so Indiana did have the means to outbid Cleveland. But the Pacers would stray into luxury tax territory if they spend more than $1.7 million of that exception, with Bird vowing at his news conference that Indiana — maintaining a longstanding team policy — remains unwilling to be a tax team.

Sources say that Marion had been telling teams for weeks that he hoped to wind up with a championship contender if he left the Dallas Mavericks in free agency. Marion spent the past five seasons with the Mavs and helped them win the first championship in franchise history in 2011 as a key role player who guarded players at four positions.

A property developer paid 12 million yuan ($1.9 million) for the one-year-old golden-haired mastiff at a “luxury pet” fair Tuesday in the eastern province of Zhejiang, the Qianjiang Evening News reported.

A Tibetan mastiff puppy has been sold in China for almost $2 million, a report said Wednesday, in what could be the most expensive dog sale ever. “They have lion’s blood and are top-of-the-range mastiff studs,” the dog’s breeder Zhang Gengyun was quoted as telling the paper, adding that another red-haired canine had sold for 6 million yuan.

Alessandro Michele Named Gucci Creative Director

Gucci and parent company Kering on Wednesday appointed Alessandro Michele creative director of the Italian luxury brand. He will succeed Frida Giannini, who departed last month from the Italian fashion and leather goods house.

“After a considered and thorough selection process, Alessandro Michele has been chosen to assume the role as Gucci creative director, based upon the contemporary vision he has articulated for the brand that he will now bring to life,” said Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci. “Alessandro and I are fully aligned on this new contemporary vision needed by the brand and we will be continuously inspired by that new identity in our respective roles and duties.”

Michele, 42, joined Gucci in 2002, and became Giannini’s deputy in 2011 when he took over the leather goods, shoes, jewelry and home collections. He is also the creative director of Gucci’s porcelain brand, Richard Ginori. He previously worked at Fendi as a senior accessories designer and studied at Rome’s Accademia di Costume e di Moda.
