Freddie Mercury was a British singer, songwriter, record producer, and lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. Regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of rock music, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range.
Freddie Mercury became internationally known as the lead singer of Queen with the release of the successful 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack. A Night at the Opera (1975), featuring the song “Bohemian Rhapsody,” made him a star.
At the time of his death in 1991, Mercury owned real estate worth the inflation adjusted equivalent of $40 million and had $13 million worth of other liquid assets.
Freddie Mercury died at the age of 45 on November 24, 1991 from complications brought on by AIDS.
John Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles.
John Lennon was honored with a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991, and posthumously again in 2014 as a member of the Beatles. In addition to the 15 Beatles works in the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame, Lennon has one solo work in the Hall: "Imagine," which was inducted in 1999.
When John was gunned down in 1980, his net worth was estimated to be around $800 million. Leading the way is Paul McCartney. A singer-songwriter with The Beatles, Paul's songwriting partnership with former bandmate John Lennon is one of the most successful in history.
