The World’s Largest Superyacht

The 600-foot-long REV Ocean has been launched at the VARD Tulcea shipyard in Romania.

Building this massive ship that will be able to visit any ocean on Earth is only part of Norwegian businessman Kjell Inge Røkke’s desire to start a global foundation with an extremely important, yet simple goal: to make the oceans healthy again.

Røkke has personally helped fund REV to advance ocean understanding and conservation further than anyone has before. After an extensive and complicated build period over the past 18 months, the entire REV team was extremely excited when the new vessel was finally lowered into the water earlier this month.

Over the coming weeks the vessel will be towed down the Danube River, into the Black Sea, out through the dramatic Bosporus Strait in Istanbul, traverse the Mediterranean, exit around the Strait of Gibraltar, and finally arrive at the VARD shipyard in Brattvag, Norway.

REV Ocean will be equipped for conducting missions that cover the entire marine ecosystem. It will be used by scientists and innovators for ‘solutions’ oriented research that explore issues such as the impact CO2 emissions have on the ocean, plastic pollution, and unsustainable fishing.
