Foremost among these venues is MilkBoy, run by producer/engineer Tommy Joyner, who also produces music at the Philadelphia recording studio of the same name. Hosting and recording sessions for artists like Lana Del Ray, Silk Sonic, Miley Cyrus, and James Taylor, Joyner is a songwriter himself, and, surrounded by so much creativity and growth, it was inevitable that he’d eventually get around to recording his own music.

DA Charged With Bribery

On Tuesday a federal grand jury indicted a Philadelphia district attorney on charges related to a five-year stretch of corruption that saw Seth Williams, 50, accept thousands of dollars in bribe money, a trip to the Dominican Republic, and a 1997 Jaguar.

Meek Mill Gets House Arrest

(The Wrap-Up Magazine) Meek Mill was found in violation of his parole in December. He blamed his erratic concert schedule, but Philadelphia prosecutors linked the problem to his romance with Nicki Minaj, who sat in the front row for Friday’s hearing.

Jay-Z Announces The Return Of Made In America Festival

 

The Made In America Festival is returning to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this Labor Day Weekend. The 2021 edition of the Roc Nation-produced musical event is scheduled for Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5.

Made In America was founded by Roc Nation leader/Hip Hop icon Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter in 2012. Last year’s MIA was rescheduled due to safety concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest in America at the time.

Meek Mill Facing Prison Time

Meek Mill is going to court on Monday, November 6, to find out if he'll be disciplined for two recent arrests that could result in probation violations. The 30-year old Philadelphia rapper, born Robert Williams, was picked up at a St. Louis airport in March for an alleged fight. In August he was arrested in New York City, accused of reckless driving.

In February of 2016, Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley, sentenced Meek to 90 days house arrest and extended his probation by six years for leaving Philadelphia on several occasions without notifying his probation officer.

If Brinkley determines that the "House Party" hit maker has violated his probation again, she could impose a sentence of up to 20 months in prison, according to TMZ.

Method Man added to Godfather of Harlem season 2 cast

 

Wu-Tang members Method Man has been added to Godfather of Harlem season 2. Hip Hop icon Method Man, who also stars on Power Book II, will play Sam Christian, the head of the Philadelphia Black Mafia, and a longtime friend of Bumpy Johnson’s.

From Epix: Godfather of Harlem Season 2 finds Bumpy Johnson battling the New York Crime Families for control of the lucrative and murderous “French Connection,” the pipeline for heroin that runs from Marseilles to New York Harbor. With a distribution syndicate that includes black crime bosses from other major U.S. cities, Bumpy takes a cue from his friend Malcolm X’s message of black economic nationalism.

Jay-Z Wants to Invest in a Sportsbook Betting Platform

 

Just days after Jay-Z and Roc Nation took part in a $325 million investment in the Fanatics sports e-commerce platform, the rapper, along with Fanatics onwer and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin have applied for a New York gaming license to form Fanatics Sportsbook. The news was first reported by TMZ and ESPN and confirmed by Variety. A rep for Roc Nation had no comment.

Lawsuit Dismissed Against Jay-Z & Meek Mill

 

Jay-Z and Meek Mill have reportedly settled a lawsuit with a Philadelphia police officer who sued both of them along with Roc Nation after a depiction of her in the 2019 Amazon original doc ‘Free Meek.’

The documentary spoke on Meek’s incarceration, and how the rapper shifted his focus on calling out the injustices of the U.S. prison system and criminal justice system in Philadelphia. Crooked police officers in Philly were highlighted as well, but it was revealed that one of the officers—Saqueta Williams, was reportedly proven to be innocent of any wrongdoing as a cop. Williams ultimately sued Roc Nation, Jay-Z, and Meek for invasion of privacy and defamation as a result after she was labeled as a crooked police officer.

But while serving time at the Buck County Correctional Facility, Lyrico said he had a powerful vision from God that instructed him to accept Jesus as the son of God and as his personal Lord and Savior. Moreover, he said God told him that if he did this and obeyed Him, he would bless his legal fight and take him from jail, transforming his life in ways far beyond he could ever imagine. Lyrico accepted Jesus and told God that he’d service him with his unique gifts, talents, and abilities to the best of his abilities. 

DeSean Jackson Robbed

Rumors are that +Desean Jackson of the +Philadelphia Eagles was robbed during a home invasion. Fox 29 in Philadelphia reported that Jackson, who was out of town when the home invasion occurred, returned on Saturday to find that $250,000 in cash, $125,000 worth of jewelry and two semi-automatic handguns were taken from his home.

Athlete or not, coming home and realizing almost $400,000 in valuables have been taken from you is a nightmare scenario for anyone. The only good news from this story is that Jackson wasn’t home when the burglars broke in.
