Understanding #MoviesWeLove Menace II Society

Menace II Society is much more than your typical hood movie. Caine narrates the story of his life, explaining how after the riots, drugs came into effect, and affected his home life as a child.

Tupac Shakur was originally supposed to play a role in the film but was fired by Allen Hughes, apparently because Tupac was causing problems on the set. Things later escalated on the set of a music video, when members of Tupac's entourage were found beating up on Allen Hughes.

Menace 2 Society is about a young street hustler attempts to escape the rigors and temptations of the ghetto in a quest for a better life. In an unflinching look at the mean streets of the contemporary urban American ghetto, a Black youth--despite his dreams for a better life--ultimately succumbs to the cycle of violence that pervades his community.

The opening scene not only introduces the film's two main characters, but, just as important, it establishes the motivation for their actions. The impetus for almost all the violence is vengeance fueled by pride. Caine is shot during a carjacking in which his cousin is murdered for refusing to give up his car.

Too Short played the role of Lew-Loc in the film Menace II Society. Too Short has also worked in the adult film industry, with the 2003 film Get In Where You Fit In.

Cain was shot and killed at the end during drive by which was meant for him. At the time he was packing the car and getting ready to move to Kansas or something with his Muslim friend and the black chick with the long dreds and her son Anthony.
